Sponsor information to assist the Equine Goals & Dreams junior equestrian team to represent Australia at
the 2012 UTM International Horse Show, in Johor, MALAYSIA. Show dates are 12-15 th April
Background:
Equine Goals & Dreams is a non-profit company that was established in 2006 to help support young horse lovers
who worked with or were seeking to find career opportunities in the equine industry. During this time the company
was instrumental in establishing some historical milestones in the horse racing industry such as the inaugural 2006
Thoroughbred Employee of the Year awards, the Stable Employee Association and the successful RVL Rider Talent
Identification camps. In 2009 EG&D set up 10 international job swap opportunities free of charge for stable workers
studying national qualifications who wished to travel, earn and learn. The company has a large network of key
contacts in many equine disciplines around the world which has led to an international equine industry skills passport
being approved and is currently under development. Horses are an international language!
In January Equine Goals & Dreams received a request to be a key note presenter at the 2012 UTM International
Equine Trade and Business Expo in Johor, Malaysia from the 9 th -12 th April which leads into their International Horse
Show. This was agreed to at no fee if we could offer some young riders a chance to form a team to compete at their
show. The Malaysian Equine Council then extended the invitation for EG&D to bring a team of riders to compete in
the pony club events at their show. EG&D have selected 8 junior riders from the North Eastern Victorian pony club
zone who will assist at the expo and then compete in the riding events from the 12 th – 15 th April.
The UTM International Horse Show is only in its second year and the first show in 2011 attracted 50,000 visitors. This
year prominent international professional world champion riders and icons such as John Whitaker, Nick Skelton and
Lady Ellen Whitaker are also guests of the event. Our team of young riders will not only represent themselves, their
families, their local communities, and their country but also your business on the international stage as they take a
step towards their own Equine Goals & Dreams…

Timeframe:
20 th January 2012 Official invitation received from University of Technology & Malaysian equine Council to bring a
team of riders to compete in 2012 UTM International Horse Show
30 th January 2012 Invitation sent to 8 riders to form Equine Goals & Dreams equestrian team for the competition
February 2012 Seek sponsors for each individual rider. Arrange passports. Find and book flights. Design and
purchase uniforms with team and sponsor logos.
March 2012 3 training days for all riders as a team. Confirm and pay for entries for all events
Saturday 7 th April Fly from Melbourne to Johor Bahru direct
9 th – 12 th April Participate in Equine Expo and get to know horses before competition starts
12-15 th April Compete in Pony Club competitions
Monday 17 th April Return flight Johor Bahru to Melbourne.
Expenses include:
We are seeking sponsorship for any part of the expenses that you may be able to offer and thank-you for taking the
time to even consider our request. Seeking individual sponsors for each rider or for team as a whole.
Flights and Travel Insurance per rider Approx $1,300
Uniforms – 1 team jacket with rider & sponsor logos, 3 polo shirts, 1 dress shirt, 1 saddle Approx $300 per rider
cloth with the riders name & Australian team logo stitched in.
Accommodation for riders (UTM are only paying accommodation & meals for 4 riders as Approx $400 per rider
original invite was for a team of 4…I couldn’t help it too many worthy riders)
Total sponsorship per rider we are trying to raise $2,000
As much as I would love to be able to pay for the team myself, I truly can’t, but I can give them this unique
opportunity and the guidance. Why do I feel so strongly about assisting youth that love horses? Because I was one of
them once, a pony club kid from Wangaratta with a horse racing dream that took me all around the world.
