TAbLE Of COnTEnTs
Dear customers, business partners and valued readers
We are proud to present you the first adenta catalogue in our brand-new corporate design and an entirely
redesigned setup and layout for better orientation and an enhanced informative content.
Looking back on 24 years experience in the orthodontic business, it has always been our utmost goal to
deliver products and services in a superior quality, that meet the actual needs of orthodontist and offer
solutions to support them in their daily work.
It is extremely important to us to maintain close contact with our clients, as we try to foster a working relation
that allows the orthodontists to exchange experiences arising from their daily work with our products
and services as well as potential ideas for improvement.
At adenta we join this with the extensive knowledge of our german engineers and a vast know-how of highly
precise manufacturing techniques and processes.
This combination makes our products and services innovative, creative, and reliable.
Simply: “Inspired by orthodontists, engineered by Adenta.”
Being a manufacturer, it is naturally that all our products undergo various tests and have to be proven from
an orthodontic point of view, before they are launched in the market. This is possible through our network
of research partners in the orthodontic field.
As a family owned company, it is of course not only the product that has to be superior. Thus, we strive for
having a fast, responsive and reliable customer service together with a more than convincing logistics solution.
Yet, we do offer a great value as even our superior products are fairly priced and simplify our customers’
work – both cost wise and efficiency wise.
Discover … performance!
FLAIR®SLT – More, than just self-ligating! 4 – 7
Discover … unmistakably German!
The CROWN®Bracket System 8 – 10
adenta’s vestibular and lingual patented
self-ligating brackets combine the best of
both worlds.
They were designed in order to combine
the flexibility of an elastic ligature with
the economic advantages of a self-ligating
clip by eliminating the clinical limits of a
locking self-ligating sliding clip.
+ minimize binding
+ avoid notching
= less friction & faster results
Discover … resources!
The ECONOLINE® Bracket – German engineering
meets budget! 11 – 16
Outstanding biocompatibility due to the built-in SAFETY RELEASE FUNCTION
Discover … cleverness!
The ¾ Deep Bite Bracket 17
– Conventional self-ligating brackets become a convertible tube: At a certain
degree of rotation, all locked/sliding self-ligating brackets create a tunnel with
four rigid walls, resulting in undesired considerable forces, adding friction to
the system. Especially in highly rotated teeth, locked/sliding self-ligating clips
produce binding and create notching, which slows down the treatment process.
+ Elastomeric adjust to the malocclusion: The elastic ligature flexes especially with
highly rotated teeth and therefore does not force the wire into the slot as locking
self-ligating clips do – the periodont is unlikely to be overpowered.
The adenta FLAIR® self-ligating spring clip functions as an active flexible
spring that will alleviate pressure appropriately when force is exceeded over
900gms and will release the wire totally as soon as the force created on the
tooth is too high. This feature plays a key role for the earlier insertion of stronger
wires and protects the periodont.
= More comfortable for the patient as pressure is alleviated on over stressed
teeth.
Product Line Vestibular Metal Brackets
The non-locking flexible ROTATIONAL SPRING CLIP
Unique Rotation Control
With highly rotated teeth, the interactive
self-ligating clip flexes as the archwire
presses against one side of the clip, gently
rotating the tooth into its position by reducing
at the same time binding and avoiding
notching.
Superior Bonding Strength
Micro-etched integral bonding base with
mechanical undercuts for superior adhesive
retention. Rated highest bond strength in
clinical study. (S.K. Sharma-Sayal, University
of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, 1999).
• The FLAIR® self-ligating spring clip is engaged even if the wire
does not fill the slot, this early torque control and passive
ligation significantly shortens treatment time compared to
conventional brackets.
• The FLAIR® self-ligating spring clips flexes according to the
malocclusion. As the spring clip constantly presses the
archwire into the slot it ensures effective rotation and torque
control allowing earlier archwire changes and less visit frequencies
than with other conventional self-ligating systems.
Easy to open, easy to close
• The FLAIR®self-ligating clip is designed to work like a spring,
very little force is needed to open and close the bracket,
creating optimum handling for the doctor and
comfort for the patient.
• Insert the opening instrument into the hole located on the
top of the clip. Holding the opening instrument between your
thumb and forefinger, make a small rotation of the instrument
by rolling between your fingers.
• The FLAIR® self-ligating spring produces an average of 650
grams of force when active, optimal force needed to control
treatment.
• Sturdy clip withstands the rigors of numerous wire changes.
Early Torque Control
The adenta FLAIR® self-ligating flexible clip
provides stable torque by the application of
constant pressure to a rectangular archwire
by the spring clip, offering full and early
torque control.
Built-in Over-Rotation Arch
No additional bracket bonding is necessary
as the built in rotation arch of the adenta
FLAIR® self-ligating clip allows to directly
over-rotate a tooth with a heatactivated
adenta Thermalloy archwire .012”.
Patented Crown Base
The tooth shaped base for easy direct
bonding and true 3D base coverture allows
precise bonding by using the 4 visual cues
of the bracket base, reducing the margin of
error in setting brackets.
Ultra low IN/OUT
As a unique milled truly one-piece bracket
the FLAIR® SLT bracket is characterized by
a remarkable proximity of the archwire to
the point of force application, the center of
resistance of the tooth.
Outstanding oral hygiene
No hooks to accumulate plaque or overlap
the marginal gingiva.
Patient satisfaction
A low profile and smooth surfaces as well
as rounded clip edges provide enhanced
patient comfort. Due to the truly flexible clip,
earlier wire changes are possible which
result in fewer appointments. In addition to
elastomeric free treatment, longer appointment
intervals and enhanced oral hygiene
provide freedom to the patients.
Responsive
Conventional self-ligating bracket lock the wire and therefore
increase binding and notching.
The patented adenta FLAIR®
clip flexes like an elastomeric
ligature and therefore responds
to the actual malocclusion with-
out losing force, which reduces
binding and prevents notching
especially with highly rotated
teeth.
Passive and active
It is passive with wires smaller
than .018” producing nearly
frictionless movement resulting
in an efficiency increase in the
leveling stage.
With wires larger than .018” the
bracket actively but gently
guides the wire into the slot,
creating early torque control and
increasing treatment time and
efficiency.
Optimum Force
With an active force of approx. 650 cN/grams the adenta FLAIR®self-ligating clip
provides on average approx. 50% more power than a new elastomeric ensuring a safe
and reliable archwire ligation. Especially in the finishing phase with large rectangular
wires, as the lumen of the adenta self-ligating brackets will be increasing, the clip is
stronger as a new elastic ligature.
Scientific accuracy
Analysis of Crown forms
After extensive evaluation of intact crowns, a standardized crown form based on the principle of a
congruent surface was determined with scientific accuracy.
Early diagnosis of problematic tooth forms
This congruent design can also prove successful with difficulties such as partially chipped teeth.
Superior adhesive retention
All adenta brackets offer superior adhesive retention, due to the
mechanical undercuts in the bonding base of the CROWN®Bracket.
* study AJO v:124
Micro-etched and sand-blasted integral bonding base with mechani-
cal undercuts result on average in 20–40% higher bonding strength.
* Rated highest bond strength in clinical studies, all adenta bracket bases have been designed with very strong horizontal groves. This gives a high resistance
against off bites/shear bond strength than mesh based brackets.
German Precision
adenta’s unique state-of-the- art milling
techniques enable an ultra-precise slot
with smallest possible tolerances, offering
to you full torque and rotational control.
At the end of the treatment, you will have
achieved desired optimum treatment goals.
Ultra Small In/Out
The ECONOLINE®Bracket is a one-piecemilled
bracket, no base pad is added and
therefore offers an ultra-small In/Out.
True One-Piece-Bracket – No separation
failures
No possibility of separation failure as the
base and hooks are milled into the bracket,
creating extra strength and durability.
Superior adhesive retention
All adenta brackets offer superior adhesive
retention, due to the mechanical undercuts
in the bonding base. *study AJO v:124
Easy ligation
Raised tie-wings for easier ligation and
round edges for less irritation.
Precise bracket placement
All adenta brackets feature an anatomical
3D curvature on the base providing a
precise fit to the tooth.
Vestibular Metal brackets ¾ Deep bite bracket
Discover … cleverness!
The ¾ Deep Bite Bracket by Dr. Schütz
• Lower anteriors can be placed earlier in treatment
• Lower shearing forces result in fewer repairs and reduced chair-time
• Brackets can be placed more incisal on a short clinical crown
• Incisal placement improves leveling
The ¾ Deep Bite Bracket
Deep bite correction normally requires time consuming advance preparatory tooth movement to
create room for the bonding of the lower incisors resulting in increased treatment time.
The adenta ¾ Deep Bite Bracket provides you with a solution that enables you to bond the lower
incisors early in treatment. It minimizes treatment delays and extra steps, speeding up the treatment
time.
Decrease treatment time for your Deep Bite cases
Incisal space restrictions in a Deep Bite patient eliminate the use of a conventional bracket.
The adenta Deep Bite Brackets sagittal dimension of the incisal bracket wing is reduced to a
minimum, increasing the incisal space by 38%. This creates the room needed
to bond brackets on the lower incisors early in treatment, reducing the overall treatment time.
Small incisal bracket wings allow early bonding and faster leveling
The small sagittal dimension of the incisal wings enables you to position the bracket more incisal,
facilitating better leveling and increasing the efficiency of the appliance.
Superior bonding strength meets zero separation failures
It is especially important in patients that present with a deep bite, that the bracket used have a
strong bond and is durable enough to deal with the high shearing forces. All adenta brackets offer
superior adhesive retention, due to the mechanical undercuts in the bonding base. * study AJO v:124
All adenta brackets are milled in one piece, eliminating the chance of separation failures and creating
a strong and durable bracket.
The Deep Bite Brackets’ small sagittal dimension of the incisal wing, coupled with the palatinal
concaving of the incisors, provide the orthodontist with a reduction of shearing forces, resulting in
fewer repairs and less chair time.
Use for pre-molars to achieve better intercuspation
The Deep Bite Bracket can be useful even in the premolar region, when there is too little space
for the correct placement of a regular premolar brackets. When better intercuspation is achieved,
the Deep Bite Bracket should be removed and replaced by a correct premolar bracket.
CLEAR®Ceramic Bracket
Monocrystalline sapphire ceramic brackets offer you a truly transparent material.
Nearly invisible against any tooth shade and stays crystal clear without staining.
Why we choose Monocrystalline sapphire
Most of the ceramic brackets on the market are made out of
either polycrystalline or monocrystalline sapphire.
The primary difference between these two materials is their
optical clarity. Monocrystalline alumina ceramic brackets have
a more translucent (clearer) appearance whereas polycrystalline
brackets are more whitish (toothcolored).
This form of alumina has been selected because of its
superior physical strength and favorable optical and
aesthetic properties. Our ceramics are non-porous,
resistant to staining and so do not absorb odors.
The Science behind bond strength
Micrographs show clearly our unique Double Fusion Method.
The base of the bracket is coated with Zirconia powder,
which produces Spheroid particles; each particle has a
mass of tiny dendrites. These properties allow for a secure
retention during the length of treatment and provide predictable
de-bonding at the end of treatment.
Maximun Tie-Wing strength
Easy and reliable ligation
Correct material produces big advantages
Monocrystalline Sapphire alumina has a modulus of rupture
greater than 35,000 psi (241.3 MPa). This strength is essential
to producing a ceramic bracket without breakage issues.
Standard ceramic brackets are rather bulky as they have to
overcome the physical property limitations of other types of
material, so they tend to be somewhat uncomfortable to the
patient. Monocrystalline Sapphires strength enables us to
offer a small and comfortable bracket for the patient. It offers
our orthodontists the mechanical strengths needed for
predictable treatment.
Patented non-locking rotating clip resulting in
unique flexibility
Patented slot for horizontal arch wire insertion
in the front and unique milled truly onepiece
bracket
Overcoming the limitations of self-ligating brackets by using the advantages of elastomerics
adenta’s vestibular and lingual patented self-ligating brackets combine the best of both worlds.
They were designed in order to combine the flexibility of an elastic ligature with the economic advantages of a self-ligating
clip by eliminating the clinical limits of a locking self-ligating sliding clip.
Responsive
Passive and active
It is passive with wires smaller
than .016” producing nearly
frictionless movement resulting
in an efficiency increase in the
leveling stage.
• Early torque, rotation, and angulation control
• Passive, intermediate, and truly active treatment options
• Secure and reliable clip opening even with bad patient oral
hygiene
• Outstanding oral hygiene with no hooks to accumulate
plaque or overlap the marginal gingival
• Built-in safety release – the only self-ligating bracket in the
world that safely opens in order to prevent the periodont
from being overstressed without deforming the clip
• Easy wire insertion
• Direct and full transmission of torque and angulation
• Early transmission of torque and angulation
• Smooth round edges providing highest patient comfort and
oral hygiene
• Self-ligating clip is used as a bite plane accelerating bite
opening.
The patented adenta EVOLU-
TION SLT® self-ligating clip flex-
es like an elastomeric ligature
and therefore responds to the
actual malocclusion without los-
ing force, which reduces binding
and prevents notching especially
with highly rotated teeth.
With wires larger than .016” the
bracket actively but gently
guides the wire into the slot,
creating early torque control and
increasing treatment time and
efficiency.
The non-locking flexible clip – overcoming the limitations of self-ligating brackets
The adenta EVOLUTION SLT® bracket eliminates the need for ligation significant chair time reduction. It was designed to solve
the problems ligation that are usually experienced in lingual orthodontics.
Outstanding biocompatibility due to the
built-in Safety Release Function
With its built-in world-wide unique SAFETY
RELEASE Function the rotational clip will
release the wire at the appropriate force
starting from approx. 900 grams in order
to protect the periodont from overpowering.
The Safety Release does not damage
the clip and allows easy re-ligation.
Optimum Force
With an active force of approx. 650 cN/
grams the adenta self-ligating clip provides
on average approx. 50% more power
than a new elastomeric ensuring a safe
and reliable archwire ligation. Especially in
the finishing phase with large rectangular
wires, as the lumen of the adenta selfligating
brackets will be increasing, the clip
is stronger as a new elastic ligature.
Minimizing binding in
highly rotated teeth and
avoiding notching, resulting
in low friction
• Ensuring the protection
of the periodont as the
clip flexes as needed
and releases the wire if
appropriate
• No deformation of the
clip ensures secure and
reliable ligation and religation
Ultra low IN/OUT resulting
in remarkable proximity of
the archwire to the point
of force application, the
center of resistance of
the tooth
Easy, reliable, and forceless
opening and closing
of the clip
Simpler and faster horizontal
archwire insertion
in the front due to the
patented slot
Unique Rotation Control
With highly rotated teeth, the interactive
self-ligating clip flexes as the archwire
presses against one side of the clip, gently
rotating the tooth into its position by reducing
at the same time binding and avoiding
notching.
Early Torque Control
The adenta EVOLUTION SLT® self-ligating
flexible clip provides stable torque by
the application of constant pressure to
a rectangular archwire by the spring clip,
offering full and early torque control.
Patient satisfaction
As the leveling is achieved at an early stage,
it contributes considerably to the relief
of a patient’s anxiety, often experienced in
lingual treatments. Thus, achieving it early
in treatment helps the establishment of a
trustful and more relaxed doctor-patient
rapport.
2.35 mm effective slot width
EVOLUTION SLT®bracket has a broader
width with 2.35mm effective slot width, the
than other lingual brackets, making it very
effective in rotation control. In addition,
tipping of premolars in extraction cases
seems to be less likely to occur due to the
effective slot width.
EVOLUTION SLT®Self-ligating Clip in focus
The built in SAFETY RELEASE FUNCTION
The elastic ligature flexes especially with highly rotated teeth
and therefore does not force the wire into the slot as locking
self-ligating clips do – the periodont is unlikely to be overpowered.
- At a certain degree of rotation, all locked/sliding selfligating
brackets create a tunnel with four rigid walls,
resulting in undesired considerable forces, adding friction
to the system. Especially in highly rotated teeth, locked/
sliding self-ligating clips produce binding and create
notching, which slows down the treatment process.
+ The adenta EVOLUTION SLT® self-ligating clip functions
as an active flexible spring that will alleviate pressure
appropriately when force is exceeded over 900gms and
will release the wire totally as soon as the force created
on the tooth is too high. This feature plays a key role for
the earlier insertion of stronger wires and protects the
periodont.
= More comfortable for the patient as pressure is alleviated
on over stressed teeth.
Easy to open, easy to close
The built-in ROTATIONAL SPRING CLIP
• The self-ligating clip is engaged even if the wire does not
fill the slot, this early torque control and passive ligation
significantly shortens treatment time compared to conventional
bracket
• The adenta EVOLUTION SLT® self-ligating spring clips
flexes according to the malocclusion. As the spring clip
constantly presses the archwire into the slot it ensures effective
rotation and torque control allowing earlier archwire
changes and less visit frequencies than with other conventional
self-ligating systems.
• Clip produces an average of 650gms of force when active,
optimal force needed to control treatment.
• Sturdy clip withstands the rigors of numerous wire changes.
Very little force is needed
to open and close the
bracket, creating optimum
handling for the doctor
and comfort for the
patient.
The EVOLUTION® selfligating
clip is designed to
work like a spring, very little
force is needed to open and
close.
Insert the opening
instrument into the hole
located on the top of the
clip. Holding the opening
instrument between your
thumb and forefinger,
To close insert the opening
instrument into the
hole beated on the top of
the clip, make a small rotation
occusionally. An audible
“click” confirms the
make a small rotation
spring is safely closed.
gingivally of the instrument
by rolling between
your fingers.
EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP – precise, easy, and reusable bonding system
The EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP bonding system is an innovative lingual Bracket
positioning system, which differs considerably from all the other common positioning
systems. The aim was to provide a secure, repeatable, fast and precise way –
considering the individual situation for each patient and
the habits of the practitioner – for every indirect bracket transfer.
The EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP is a unique indirect bonding system based on the
principles of the HIRO® system. It offers the practitioner the benefits of bonding
each tooth individually, offering at the same time the speed of a full bonding tray.
Superior clinical benefits – independent bracket bonding and
precise re-bonding
The prefabricated components work systemically and offer
highest precision. They work securely, fast, precise and
dependable during the bonding stage and consider each individual
patient situation and the clinician’s working habits. The
individual transfer caps can be stored and reused, if you need
to re-bond a bracket later.
Individual tooth bonding and tray bonding
The desired bracket positions is
encoded in the non-deformable in-
dividual transfer cap. The individual
transfer caps then can be inserted
into the transfer tray. As the trans-
fer cap is made of a special silicon
material, it is flexible enough to
correct minor teeth movement that
often happen between the dental
cast and the bonding. Thus, the
point of time when the brackets
are inserted into the mouth is un-
limited, as the tray will fit thanks to
its high elastic factor. This will not
have any negative influence on the
The EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP Components
SMART BASE
The Smart Base is the basic module of
the EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP Bonding
System. This prefabricated part with its
ball button is the connection module between
the elastic tray and the Smart Stick.
SMART CONNECTOR
The Smart Connector is a metal sheet,
connecting Smart Base and Smart Tube.
These two prefabricated elements form
an inseparable unit creating remarkably
unique bonding precision.
The EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP at a glance
• Fast, safe and precise transfer of lingual bracket positions
• Deformation-free, easy bracket fixation
• Fast and precise re-bonding
• Single cap placement
• Segmented working
• Tray bonding
• Timesaving
• Teamwork
actual bracket position. If placed separately, the caps will always
fit. However, it should be generally avoided to change the crown
shapes during the treatment period.
Increase team work and practice efficiency
The EVOLUTION SLT® SMART CAP Indirect Bonding System
offers the possibility to reconsider the work flows. Utilizing this
indirect bonding system, you get a new scope of action, supporting
the teamwork in your practice optimally.
Impression
The positioning of the bracket can be performed on a
• Malocclusion-model (labial/lingual)
• Set-up model (labial/lingual)
• Digital labial or lingual bracket positioning (transfer on a model
situation).
Safe and easy work means advantage in time and more precision for the orthodontist and the practice team.
SMART TUBE
The Smart Tube is an individual prefabricated
PE cap, precisely matching the dimensions
of the EVOLUTION SLT® bracket and
fixes the bracket securely.
SMART STICK
The Smart Stick can be connected to the
ball button of the Smart Base for comfortable
placement of single individual
transfer caps. It allows precise alignment
and secure fixation of the individual transfer
cap. It can be put on the rear side of
the EVOLUTION SLT® opening and closing
instrument, offering comfortable handling.
Adenta’s Lingual Archwires
Clinical Cases
As lingual practitioners are well aware,
there is zero tolerance for torque in any
lingual straight wire system. Pre-made
lingual mushroom arch-forms are available
but not recommended, as the offset needs
to be specific to your patient. Using lingual
archwires without an offset eliminates the need to buy many
different sizes and the adjustment of premade offsets to fit
the patient. Less forming, in turn lessens the chance of the
improper torque, as perfect symmetry is the primary aim.
How to bend the lingual Offsets?
The antimony of the lingual arch is positioned in such a way that it is customary to offset your lingual wire at the canine and sometimes
another offset at the distal face of the second premolar. This offset bend will adjust the lingual wire form and follow the lingual
arch, avoiding the molars. This bend can be completed with a Niti Three prong plier for the heat activated wires and a Bird Beak for all
other wires.
1. Mark the position of the distal face of the canine with a wax
marker.
2. Place the Three Prong on this mark and bend 90 degrees.
3. With a wax pencil mark the distance to the first premolar and
bend 90 degrees.
4. Make the same adjustment to fit the premolar/molar relation.
5. Eliminate any torque that would cause the wire to lift.
Excellent biomechanics resulting in remarkably short treatment time
The bracket is bonded close the center of resistance, offering excellent biomechanics for tipping
and rotating teeth. The first treatment phase can be achieved remarkably fast, as all 2 dimensional
cases will range from 12 to 18 weeks. Generally, only one wire is required so treatment is
fast, predictable and completely in your control.
Minimal Friction and optimal control of tooth rotation and inclination
The JOY® bracket is distinguished by its unique twin shoulder wing design. The elastic ligature is
placed on the shoulder wings of the JOY®bracket holding the archwire secure in the slot. Thus,
no friction is added to the system as the elastic ligatures will not touch the archwire. These two
supporting shoulders prevent friction in the slot in treated cases of wires up to .016”. This will
enable the leveling phase to move more rapidly and efficiently.
Even though the bracket has a very low profile, the archwire channel capacity in the mesio-distal
region is broad. As a result, it is possible to achieve exceptional control of tooth rotation and
inclination.
Taking into consideration that different bracket dimensions are required for the treatment of
pre-molars, the JOY®pre-molar brackets are designed as a true 4 wing bracket in order to offer
the mesio-distal slot dimensions necessary for outstanding rotation and tip control.
Slim Profile for superior treatment Joy®
The adenta JOY® lingual bracket brings treatment joy to both
the patient and the orthodontist. It is one of the smallest
lingual brackets, but offers unlike other systems manifold
treatment options to the clinician.
It is a cost effective treatment system designed to easily fit
into the busiest of practices, offering highest patient comfort,
uncomplicated application, and can be used in any kind of
practice.
Optimum design for adult treatments
The adenta Joy® Lingual bracket is designed specifically for
adult cases that have relapsed or that only require two dimensional
treatments.
adenta NiTi lingual archwires
The adenta Flexadent Lingual Archwires are especially designed
for lingual treatments. The preformed archwires are extremely
flexible and take the lingual necessary force expression for
faster treatment into consideration.
The adenta JOY® lingual bracket offer for many patients the
ideal solution, to discretely, quickly, and comfortably correct
minor misalignments.
Minimal Force with Flexadent NiTi archwires
The low profile achieved by a unique milled true one piece bracket design provides minimal IN/OUT
occurrences. Thus, the bio-force application is very close to the lingual crown of the tooth. In combination
with adenta’s lingual thermoactivated NiTi alloy archwires as low as .012, which take into
particular consideration the neuromuscular and biomechanical aspects, the patient comfort
is remarkably increased.
We have all experienced Class II treatment difficulties: appliance breakage issues, elastics - undesired side effects, bulky and
uncomfortable, complicated or hard to handle appliances, loss of power and last but not least the need to stock different sizes
and forces.
The
FLEX DEVELOPER®is designed to deliver a reliable force
between mandible and maxilla. The power derives from an
elastic mini rod that can be thinned to enable a range of treat-
ment forces. The force ranges from 1,000 grams to as little
as 50 grams (10 – 0,5 N) and is individually adjusted for the
perfect fit for each patient. This one of a kind elastic rod is
highly durable, able to withstand the rigorous forces of treat-
ment while maintaining its power and elasticity.
2.5 mio cycles - Unbreakable and long lasting elasticity
The FLEX DEVELOPER's mini rod was put through an Un test
(in vitro). This test was stopped after 2,5 Mio. cycles, as
practically no changes in the force deliverance rate could be
observed. This equals 500 days of treatment time, if a bite
rate of 5,000 cycles per day is estimated. Clinical testing
proved optimal endurance and strength and has set a new
benchmark for inter-maxillary force deliverance.
Reducing undesired effects
HYCON®Tube
HYCON®ClipOn
The ability to customize the mini rod to your patients’ needs
eliminates your need to stock many different sizes and forces.
Length can be customized quickly, just measure and cut.
Force can be customized easily by reducing the diameter of
the mini rod, producing a range of forces from 1,000 grams to
as low as 50 grams.
In contrast to effect of Class II mechanics with elastics’ where
the forces increase and become more vertical with increased
mouth opening (undesired), the FLEX DEVELOPER®only produces
a horizontal force just before tooth contact. The vertical
force is negligible small. When the mouth is opened, it slides
back passively, without force or side effect.
“My colleagues tell me that they are able to
treat cases with the HYCON®device that before
Development approach
Partnered with Dr. Winfried
Schütz of Germany, our engineers
set out to design a device
that could provide a technical
approach to space closure.
We asked how to eliminate the
uncertainties associated with elastic forces, speed up treatment
and protect the periodont.
Inspired by one of the smartest elements of force in removable
orthodontics, the screw, the HYCON®device was designed based
on this principle, allowing that an exact defined pressure will be
applied.
Features
• Painless function
• Compatible with all straight arch systems
• Demands only minimum of tissue turnover
• Enables the application of intermitting forces
• Facilitates disassociation of activation length and generated
force
• Reduces chair-time as activated by the patient
• Improves and simplifies treatment
Bodily movement
The HYCON®device provides a
step by step movement: mesially,
distally, but more specifically
for space closure. With each
activation, the HYCON®device
provides exact and controlled
closure, the orthodontist maintains complete control of treatment
with a full understanding of force. Treatment is fast, predicable
and successful every time. With each 360 degree turn the
HYCON®screw closes the space by .014” / 0.35mm.
This step by step approach ensures permanent blood supply to
the surrounding periodontal structures, closely emulating ideal
bodily movement. Treatment is speeded up and offers pain less
function for your patient.
• Makes tooth movement and end of treatment predictable
• Overcomes any friction of the arch wire
• Permits easy and precise control of anchorage
• Provides almost ideal bodily tooth movement
• Speeds up space closure
• Warrants permanent blood circulation for the involved
periodontium
• Enables fast midline corrections
Precise activation and controlled, predictable space closure
Clinical Case Class I dental pattern – Class II skeletal pattern
The force necessary to move a tooth must overcome the friction
between arch-wire and bracket, and also must stimulate
tissue response.
With elastic forces the amount of stretching or deflection is
proportional to the total force required. In order to achieve the
appropriate amount of force, the activation length of an elastic
mechanism has to be far greater than the periodontal gap.
In contrast to this the threaded screw-type mechanism allows
the separation of force and distance. The movement of the
tooth is determined solely by the advancement rate of the
thread and the amount of activation turns.
Being independent of elastic forces it is thus possible to exert
a very precise activation at a fairly high force level, but at a very
short distance.
Speed up treatment – optimal recovery of the periodontal tissue
The HYCON®is activated in small steps at intervals which can
be determined according to the condition of the periodontal
tissue. By creating intermittent tooth movement, the HYCON®
allows recovery of the tissue in between activation steps.
In contrast to the characteristics of elastic elements of force,
where the power being generated is proportional to the activation
stretch - a screw driven mechanism enables the separation
of activation distance and force. The screw’s force only
plays a role insofar as being adequate enough to overcome
frictional forces.
After the adjustment of the HYCON®screw the appliance is
once again passive. There are no existing elastic forces, what
remains from the activation is a slight increase in “tissue
pressure”. This is the physiological stimulus for the desired
alteration processes.
This 30.4 year old male presented with a Class I dental
pattern and a moderate Class II skeletal pattern. He
showed severe crowding in his lower anterior segment.
Four first bicuspids were extracted. During treatment space
closure occurred routinely in the lower arch however was
Data reported by Dr. A. Khala 2005.
Quickest space closure with HYCON®
Experiment conducted by Prof. Dr. Anmol Khala concludes,
that out of the quantity measured alkaline phosphatase the
activity of the bone metabolism and consequently the rate of
bone turnover can be determined.
While in group 1 (sliding mechanics) there was an increase of
65 percent, in group 2 (HYCON®device) the measured level of
increase was found to be approx. 140 percent.
This indicates that the HYCON®device group had the highest
metabolic activity.
Consequently, the largest rate of bone turnover and hence
quickest tooth movement took place here.
Designed specfically with a
support-wire which is inserted
into the auxiliary-tube of the
molar band from the mesial
side and bent back.
A double buccal tube is
required for the use of this
appliance.
Holding pin of the HYCON®
Tube to be inserted into auxiliary
tube.
The HYCON®ClipOn was introduced
in 2007 to provide our
growing HYCON®users in the
United States.
In an effort to simplify installation
the HYCON®ClipOn was
Minimizing tissue turnover
The force exerted by turning the screw is entirely sufficient to
overcome friction, without requiring an activation greater than
the periodontal space. This permits adequate stimulation of
tissue response, ensuring permanent blood supply to the periodontium
and the surrounding structures. An ideal situation
for optimal metabolism, consequently osteoclast and osteoblast
activity is given.
Optimal biomechanics
As friction is of little concern, the HYCON®facilitates utilization
of arch dimensions that fully fit bracket slots and provide
torque control. Deflection can be practically neglected
because the activation is of such a short distance. These are
important bio-mechanical aspects because they allow a close
approach to ideal bodily tooth movement. As a result, tissue
turnover is minimized providing a high efficiency of tooth movement
while being stress free on the periodontium.
Lingual treatment option
EASY-WAY-COIL® SYSTEM for lingual and buccal treatment
clinically reliable, efficient, easy to use and economical system for the alignment of impacted and
ectopic teeth.
Many different traction appliance options are available for
the task of aligning the ectopic or impacted tooth. The forces
in some of these appliances are generated by elastics. The
quality of the material of elastics, elastic chains or an elastic
rubber thread makes frequent replacement necessary for the
purpose of re-activation. Lever designs are highly elastic and
supply effective force for a relatively long period of time, but
they are easily damaged, rather uncomfortable for patients,
and make oral hygiene more difficult.
The EASY-WAY-COIL®SYSTEM consists of a stainless steel
tension spring which is pivot-mounted to a lingual button with
a bonding base. The appliance is activated by systematically
shortening the spring. It is reliable and demonstrates a constant
application of force throughout the treatment procedure,
including stable maximum anchorage.
“New traction appliance with no undesirable effects.” (JCO 2008)
Clinical Case
Both sides palatinal impacted upper left and right curpids
Male, 14 years
Treatment Time: 20 months
The advantages of using a stainless spring vs. a Niti spring
can be seen clearly throughout all our clinical testing. Couple
this high functioning spring with a custom designed button
and you have the perfect traction appliance.
Sturdy and stable
Stainless steel springs permit accurate and sturdy formation
of the eyelet, with no introduction of torque and allows simple
and easy re-activation later in treatment.
Prevents undesired rotation of spring
An experimental study confirmed that the steel spring’s
rigidity has an anti-rotation effect and can thus generate a
counter-torque of 0.75 N mm, against the strong rotation of a
palatally ectopic cuspid.
Repels Mucosa and scar tissue
Mucosa or scar tissue can grow in between the separated
spiral winding of a NiTi spring, this prevents the spring from
contracting, and thus making it impossible to estimate how
much traction force is effectively being applied to the tooth.
Activation with the steel spring is low, the “tube from” is
retained and mucosa or scar tissue is easily repelled. This allows
the spring to contract and slide easily with little friction.
ting forces allow permanent blood supply to all surrounding
structures, allowing the optimum physiological stimulus for
the desired alteration processes.
Long activation
Activations are performed at 4-week intervals.
Constant precise force during activation
The outer diameter of the spring is 1.2 mm and the inner
diameter 0.75 mm, this generates an average force of 32 cN
over an active length of 2 mm. This constant value of force
can be seen throughout treatment, including stable maximum
anchorage.
Simple re-activation and variable direction
Re-activation is fast and easy.
1. Cutting of the eyelet
2. Shorten spring
3. Bend new eyelet
4. Ligate eyelet to archwire/space maintainer spring
5. As needed the direction can be modified easily by simply
ligating the eyelet to the desired angle onto the space
maintaining spring.
Vertical Pull and Mono Headgear
Clinical Case
• Vertical correction
• Intrude molars
• More than 500 grams of closing force
• Comfortable
• Ring shipped pad distributes pressure on chin area
• High quality material
Sebastian H, 13 years: circular open bite 55-65, chronic tongue. Six months vertical
Highpull bite planes , incisor spikes.. Total treatment time including fixed devices, 22
months. During this time we never needed to use vertical intraoral elastics.
Absolute Vertical
The Vertical Pull Headgear with Chin Cup
has been designed specifically to correct
vertical and a wide range of facial
myofunctional problems, such as open
bites. As soon as the therapy begins, the
Vertical Pull Headgear with Chin Cup holds
the mouth closed continuously, reducing
interdental habits and tongue protrusion.
In addition, the intrusive force on the molars is increased.
This appliance can quickly change a mouth breathing habit to
nose breathing.
Intrude Molars
The Vertical Pull Headgear also supports the intrusion of the
molars. An intrusion of 1 mm in the molar region causes a
closing of the frontal open bite by 2 mm. In this case, the Vertical
Pull Headgear with Chin Cup provides excellent support
“After doing some extensive research, I found
adenta’s Vertical Pull Headgear to be the
most comfortable, best quality vertical pull
chin cup in the orthodontic market. We’ve
had very good co-operation from our patient
and therefore excellent treatment results.”
Marth Mejia-Maidl D.D,S, MS
“The Vertical pull with chin cup is an easy adjunct
to help control vertical dimension. The
headgear is designed to be placed efficiently
and tolerated well by the patients. adenta is
an easy and knowledgeable company with
which to work.” Dr. Harvey, Moorehead MN.
with any treatment and helps removable or non-removable
appliances perform to their peak.
Increased patient co-operation
The Vertical Chin Cup is comfortable enough to be worn
all day long. It can be washed as needed. In combination
with the perfect fit of the headgear, it can produce more
than 500 grams of closing force. The arms of the chin cup
have been designed to avoid compression of the cheek
area, and for optimum comfort, a cotton pad is provided.
This ring-shaped cotton pad distributes pressure onto a
surface five times larger than the regular pressure zone
at the point of the chin. The so-created climatic zone and
perforations in the chin cup keep the skin dry and prevent
uncomfortable side effects, such as skin itching and
bacterial infections.
Mono Headgear
• Distalization for midline correction
• Class II correction
• Creating space on one side
• Occlusal plane correction
The truly unique Mono appliance has been designed specifically for one-sided treatment.
This new appliance consists of the adjustable COMBIquick® Headgear and
the Mono Module (J-Hook by Dr. Hickman). Forces from 20 to 2.000 grams may be
applied to just one side of the arch wire, or to a single tooth.
The Mono appliance can be used in cases with distalization, for mid-line correction,
class II, or for gaining space on just one side of the dental arch. It also can be used
for single side anchorage or unilateral intrusion or extrusion of the teeth (occlusal
plane correction). As the Mono appliance is premounted with elastics, this headgear
can be explained and handed to the patient within two to three minutes.
The Mono appliance can be set for either the left or right side.
