Economics, Göteborg University.<br />

From September 1985 to March 1989 I was employed at FIEF, the Trade Union<br />

Institute for Economic Research, Stockholm.<br />

Starting March 1989 I was employed at IUI, the Research Institute for Industrial<br />

Economics, Stockholm.<br />

In May 1987 I was appointed associate professor (oavlönad docent) at the Department<br />

of Economics, Göteborg University.<br />

During the summer of 1988 I was visiting lecturer at Michigan State University, USA.

In1996 I was again employed at FIEF.<br />

In August 2000 I was appointed Professor (adj) of economics at the School of<br />

Economics and Commercial Law at Göteborg University.<br />

In March 2004 I became the deputy director of FIEF.<br />

In January 2006 I was employed at the Swedish Institute for Social Research,<br />

Stockholm University.<br />

Since May 2010 I hold a chair as professor in International Migration and Ethnic<br />

Relations, at the Swedish Institute for Social Research, Stockholm University.<br />

Awards<br />

In 1983 I received the Erik Lindahl Prize to "a promising young Swedish researcher<br />

in economics" for my thesis (B2).<br />

In January 1999 I received the Gunnar Myrdal Prize for the best article<br />

(”Avreglering och arbetskraftsinvandring i ett utvidgat EU”, (E34)) in Ekonomisk<br />

debatt during 1998.<br />
