Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees<br />
<strong>Indiana</strong> family physician,<br />
pharmacist and member <strong>of</strong><br />
the American <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Family</strong> <strong>Physicians</strong> and the<br />
<strong>Indiana</strong> Chapter, Edward L.<br />
Langston, M.D., was<br />
elected to the American<br />
Medical Association Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Trustees at the AMA’s<br />
annual meeting in Chicago<br />
on June 17. One <strong>of</strong> 20<br />
board members, Langston will serve a four-year term.<br />
Langston proposes three areas <strong>of</strong> focus for the AMA:<br />
• Access to healthcare coverage to all<br />
• Advocacy for patients and physicians at the state and<br />
federal level<br />
• Action to create a more responsive and efficient AMA<br />
"I’m honored to have been elected by my colleagues to<br />
represent their interest to the American Medical<br />
Association," said Langston.<br />
A member <strong>of</strong> the AAFP/IAFP since 1978, Langston has<br />
served the <strong>Academy</strong> in a variety <strong>of</strong> roles. Including<br />
President <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Indiana</strong> Chapter and Vice President <strong>of</strong> the<br />
AAFP Board <strong>of</strong> Directors, Langston is a past director <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Community Hospital <strong>Family</strong> Practice Residency Program,<br />
<strong>Indiana</strong>polis.<br />
Langston’s career in health care spans many issues and<br />
regions, including member <strong>of</strong> the ISMA Board <strong>of</strong> Trustees,<br />
Vice President <strong>of</strong> Medical Affairs and Medical Education<br />
for the Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island, IL,<br />
and <strong>Family</strong> Practice Program Director for the Memorial<br />
<strong>Family</strong> Practice Residency Program at Memorial Hospital<br />
Southwest in Houston, TX.<br />
