As Abby’s parents look on,
Athletic Director R.J. Beach
announces the retirement of
Abby’s volleyball jersey.
At the ceremonies Athletic Director R.J.
Beach made CCES history by retiring
Abby’s volleyball jersey Number 3—the
first time a CCES female athlete’s athletic
jersey was retired. Abby joins Mills Ariail
’91 and Rasmi Gamble ’02 in having
their jerseys hanging in McCall Field
House.
Continuing the celebration, Volleyball
Coach Jennifer Numberger recognized
Karen Cochran Kee ’95, Hannah
Rogers Metcalfe ’95, Annie
Woods Parker ’97, and Caroline
Cheves ’95, all members of the
1994 Volleyball team, the first to
win a CCES State Championship. She
also recognized volleyball state champions
Thea Van der Zalm ’01, Emily
Reynolds ’00, Katherine Chisholm
’01 (represented by her mother Susan
Chisholm), and Kate Williams Powell
’01 (represented by her father Doug
Williams, our JV Volleyball Coach), who
were all on hand to celebrate this very
special occasion. ■
