The department welcomes students with a biological science<br />
background to read Physics as a subject for their General<br />
Degree. They are even eligible to read for a Special Degree in<br />
Physics provided they reach the required standard.<br />
Postgraduate Level :<br />
The Department accommodates M.Phil. and Ph.D. students.<br />
Present postgraduate projects are centred around Geophysics,<br />
Digital Electronics and Mathematical and Computational<br />
Physics. An M.Sc. Degree programme in Physics Education<br />
is also <strong>of</strong>fered in collaboration with the National Institute <strong>of</strong><br />
Education (NIE).<br />
Student Activities:<br />
Undergraduates are encouraged to join the Physics Society to<br />
actively take part in Physics based co-curricular activities.<br />
The Physics society organizes exhibitions, film festivals and<br />
popular talks that make the student life at the department more<br />
vibrant and exciting. The Department annually organizes<br />
special<br />
programs on themes<br />
such as “Physics and Music”,<br />
“Physics and Colors” etc.<br />
which have become very popular<br />
among the students. Also the<br />
department organizes seminars and informal<br />
discussions on topics such as Science,<br />
Religion, Literature, Philosophy etc.,<br />
through its popular science gossip program.<br />
Student Outcomes:<br />
The Department <strong>of</strong> Physics is proud <strong>of</strong> its<br />
student achievements. Our graduates have<br />
secured high pr<strong>of</strong>ile careers as University<br />
academics, Scientists, Administrative<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficers, Managers, Teachers etc. and are<br />
contributing to uplift the productivity and<br />
economic growth <strong>of</strong> the nation.<br />
