EDINBORO FILM SERIES KICKS OFF SPRING 2011 PROGRAM NEXT WEEK<br />

<strong>Edinboro</strong>, PA, January 20, 2011 – The <strong>Edinboro</strong> <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Series</strong> is proud to announce its Spring 2011<br />

Program. All films start at 8:30PM on the campus of <strong>Edinboro</strong> University in the Pogue Student Center.<br />

Regular screenings are $2 General Admission and free for EUP students. Admission at the door. New<br />

for 2011: for just $2 film fans have a chance to win a large one-sheet poster of the movie shown that<br />

January 27 th - VERTIGO (1958)<br />

Introduction by filmmaker and professor Brad Pattullo<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Multi-Purpose Room<br />

A classic Hitchcock thriller. A San Francisco detective suffering from acrophobia<br />

investigates the strange activities of an old friend's wife, all the while becoming<br />

dangerously obsessed with her.<br />

Rated PG.<br />

February 10 th – SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD (2010)<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Multi-Purpose Room<br />

Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes in order to win her heart.<br />

“Scott Pilgrim is a breathless rush of a movie that jumps off the screen, spins your<br />

head around and then stealthily works its way into your heart.” – Peter Travers, Rolling<br />

Stone. Starring Michael Cera. Rated PG-13.<br />

February 24 th – GODS AND MONSTERS (1998)<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Multi-Purpose Room<br />

The last days of “Frankenstein” director James Whale are explored.<br />

Academy Award Winner for Screenplay, nominated for Best Actor (Ian<br />

McKellen) and Actress (Lynn Redgrave). Rated R.<br />

March 3 th – TOKYO GORE POLICE (2008)<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Scot Cinema Theater<br />

Introduction by filmmaker Len Kabasinski<br />

This is the story of samurai-sword-wielding Ruka and her mission to avenge her<br />

father's assassination. Ruka is a cop from a squad who's mission is to destroy<br />

homicidal mutant humans known as "engineers" possessing the ability to transform<br />

any injury to a weapon in and of itself. Rated R.<br />

March 24 th - COLLAPSE (2009)<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Scot Cinema Theater<br />

A documentary on Michael Ruppert, a police officer turned independent<br />

reporter who predicted the current financial crisis and peak oil. The New<br />

York Times’ “Critic’s Pick”. Roger Ebert “4 Stars”. Entertainment Weekly<br />

“Superb! Grade-A”. Rated PG.<br />

April 7 th – SIX-STRONG SAMURAI (1998)<br />

Location: Pogue Student Center Scot Cinema Theater<br />

A mysterious and powerful hero of the classic kind, Buddy, is as skilled<br />

with his guitar as he is with his samurai sword. Thrown together with a kid<br />

whom he saves in a spectacular battle, the two of them must now escape<br />

their enemies and reach "Lost Vegas," the rock 'n' roll<br />

capital of this future world. Rated PG-13.<br />

April 21 st – WORLD’S GREATEST DAD (2009)<br />

Location: Frank G. Pogue Student Center Multi-Purpose Room<br />

A comedy about a man who learns that the things you want most may<br />

not be the things that make you happy, and that being lonely is not<br />

necessarily the same as being alone.<br />

Starring Robin Williams. Directed by Bobcat Goldthwait. Rated R.<br />

ABOUT EDINBORO FILM SERIES – Our goal is to Entertain and Educate. We strive to broaden your<br />

film vocabulary through our Programs and Spotlight Events. Standing out from other series by bringing in<br />

<strong>Film</strong>makers and giving those in attendance the opportunity to ask questions and meet the Artists. These<br />

events are organized by a dedicated committee of students and will build leadership, budgetary, and<br />

promotional skills for those involved in the program.<br />
