Ceramics for Seniors

Thursdays, January 12-March 29 from
12:30-2:30 PM
Try something new! We have a wide variety of
bisqueware just waiting to be decorated with glaze
in your own special way. Our staff will be on hand
to help with glazing tips and easy techniques. A
$15.00 fee includes studio time, glaze, firing and
selected ceramic bisqueware. Pieces will be kiln fired
and ready to pick up in a week. We also offer senior
group programs either at the Creative Arts Center or
at the convenience of your facility.

WORKSHOPS
Ceramic Celebration Plate
Bring something special to the table at your next
celebration. Decorate a ceramic plate that will become
a family treasure. Our creative ceramic instructor will
offer tips, tricks and techniques to help you embellish
your ceramic plate and make it perfect for any occasion.
Workshop includes 12"-14"ceramic plate, glazes, firing.

from 12:30-4:30 PM
Choose from a large selection of bisque fired pottery
pieces to glaze and make your own. Come for an
hour or two - alone or with a friend and let your
creative juices flow. Pay only $6 per hour plus the
cost of bisque-ware. No pre-registration required.
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by
an adult. Leave your piece with us and we will have
it fired in about a week. Cash or check only please.

All Level Pottery Classes
Beginner and advanced students will learn or refine their
pottery skills. Knowledgeable instructors will provide
demonstrations and personal instruction in all aspects of
wheel-throwing and hand-building. Class includes 25 lbs.
of clay, glazes and firing. Tools can be purchased at the
studio.

Advanced Wheel-Thrown Pottery
These classes are for students who have experience on
the potter's wheel and are looking to further develop their
throwing skills. Advanced techniques and in-depth forms
will be presented. Fee includes glazes, firings and 25 lbs. of
stoneware clay.

Sculpture Class
Beautiful sculptural forms will be the focus of this pottery
class. Instructor will share techniques for building,
supporting and firing your own handbuilt creations.
Pottery wheels will be available for students who wish to
work independently. Class includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes,
and firings.

Raku and More!
This class will focus on the ancient art of Raku, a rapid
firing process that produces rich metallic and smoky hues.
An opportunity to participate in one or more alternative
firing methods such as saggar or barrel will also be offered.
Students must be proficient enough to work at their own
pace. Class includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes and bisque firing.
Students will be charged per piece for raku firing at the
rate of $0.10 per cubic inch.

Family Time Pottery
(ages 10-17, with adult)
Parents and children will be up to their elbows in fun at
the potter’s wheel. Together we will learn the basics of
throwing while creating works of art. Fee includes glazes,

Innovative Techniques for Pottery
and Ceramics
Beautiful and functional ceramics can be made without
using a pottery wheel. We’ll share with you some of the
most inventive handbuilding techniques from the simple
coil built pot to complex slab built sculpture. We will also
experiment with pre-cast ceramic greenware to create
original designs by piercing, carving, cutting and joining
multiple castings together. Beginner through advanced.

slip cast items. Beginners will gain knowledge about
greenware, bisque, underglazes and glaze. Freehand and
stencil decorating will be explored. Advanced students can

tools can be purchased at the Creative Arts Center. Fee
includes firings, glazes, underglazes and instruction.
