Conditions for Continued Enrollment at UNCG

Student Academic Services (SAS) has approved your appeal to return to UNCG under the condition that
you fulfill the following expectations and requirements as outlined below. This program will require
your participation for the first semester following re-enrollment. You will participate in a number of
discussions, be introduced to multiple tools to use as resources, and will learn how to become successful
in your areas of interest here at UNCG. Listed below are the requirements of the program.
1. I will meet with Dr. Melanie Crump in Student Academic Services monthly to discuss my
academic progress. (August – November OR January – April)
2. I will meet with each of my instructors twice throughout the semester to discuss my academic
progress and potential grades. The first meeting will be scheduled before the deadline to
withdraw from classes without academic penalty.
3. I will meet with a representative from a support office at least once throughout this semester, as
directed. (Ex. LAC/SSS, Writing Center, Speaking Center, Career Services, etc.)
4. I will not enroll in more than 13 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters (4 per summer
session term; 8 total) until academic good standing is restored.
5. I understand that I must achieve a minimum 2.30 GPA each semester following my enrollment
here at UNCG until academic good standing is restored.
6. I understand that failure to meet the above requirements will result in immediate dismissal.
Students are expected to be aware at all times of their academic standing and are responsible for
monitoring their academic progress. By signing this contract you are confirming that you
understand the terms of this program and had an opportunity to ask questions.

Academic Standing Policy at UNCG
Failure to participate in the program sponsored by Student Academic Services during your first semester
following re-enrollment, and failure to restore academic good standing or earn a minimum 2.30 GPA
each semester will result in your immediate academic dismissal. If you are dismissed again, you must
sit out for one year before an appeal to return will be considered.
Academic Good Standing:
To be in academic good standing at UNCG, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of
1.75 for freshmen (0-29 semester hours completed), and 2.00 thereafter (30 or more semester hours
completed).
Calculating a GPA:
First, convert the letter grades to grade points. Then multiply the grade points by the number of hours
attempted for each corresponding course. The product will give you the number of quality points earned
for each course. A student's GPA is calculated by dividing the number of hours attempted into the total
earned Quality Points. You can view your total number of Quality Points and GPA Hours from your
UNCG transcript accessible through your UNCGenie account. Try to calculate your GPA on your own
using the GPA Calculations worksheet provided.
A+ = 4.3 B+ = 3.7 C+ = 2.3 D+ = 1.3 F = 0
A = 4.0 B = 3.0 C = 2.0 D = 1.0
B- = 2.7 C- = 1.7 D+ = .7
