screamer in various punk rock bands. They'll soon give birth to Alexx & The Mooonshiners. Straight after, they found their bass player on the Internet, David Braud, fresh out of Conservatoire
de Paris where he was given double-bass lessons. His parents are both professional musicians (mother pianist, father sax) and his father-in-law (Clément Bailly) once was Magma's second
drummer. David used to be more into Jazz and Metal, and had never played a single blues note before the Mooons. With David, the band is getting complete as the drummers have always come
and go : the MoOons are in fact a 3-piece band + the drummer of the day. The style of the Mooonshiners is a multicoloured cocktail : some blues (probably the cement of their music), but also

Anyone with an avid interest in the traditional folk music of North America knows that Louisiana has long been, and still is, a place where the old styles survive and thrive and new sounds are
born. Its rich history of African, French, Spanish, Caribbean and Native-American influences has gifted the world with a unique culture that no catastrophe, natural or man-made, can ever
destroy. Arriving, mid-September, at Dirk Powell's Cypress House Studio in Pont Breaux, Louisiana, with a satchel of new songs, I felt the thrill of great expectations. The last time I'd met up
with Dirk was back in January when we both had been invited to be a part of the BBC's "Celtic Connections"- filmed in the Scottish countryside. That was the first time we'd had the opportunity
to playmusic together and we really hit it off. The original idea to record in Louisiana was hatched even earlier during a meeting with Matt Greenhill from Folklore Productions. His many
talents include getting like-minded musicians together in interesting combinations. Anyway, knowing that I was looking for a versatile multi-instrumentalist to record with alongside harmonica

Captain Luke from Winston-Salem, North Carolina sings in a basso-profundo voice that conjures the deep blues soul of Reverend Gary Davis and the velvet of Dean Martin. Captain Luke
(Luther Mayer) was born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1926. He grew up on his grandparent's farm in nearby Clinton, where he followed the furrows barefoot behind the plow as his Uncle
Jesse worked and sang to his mule. At fourteen he moved to Winston-Salem, N.C. with his mother and sister, where the exigencies of the situation carried him increasingly out of school and into
the work force. Luke was blessed with a deep natural baritone and he began quite early to carry the lowparts in the local church. Later, accompanied by whatever instrumentation available,
Luke used to travel in a wide circle from Winston (very often with Guitar Gabriel), performing in drink-houses, the social hubs of the African-American community in the North Carolina
Piedmont. Luke's music and art are rooted firmly in the African-American working class of the Carolina Piedmont and the mystique of his message refers continually to the blues experience.

Born in New Orleans, in 1952, Larry Garner grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, discovering the blues with Silas Hogan, Clarence Edwards, Slim Harpo and Jimmy Reed. First playing the

For his 10th album, Different Views, blues rocker David Gogo definitely had some unique sights to inspire him during the recording process. Instead of the usual confines of your typical
recording studio, the bulk of the album was recorded at his home - overlooking the 160-acre Christmas tree farm and forest that make up the Gogo family compound. The keyboard tracks were

Little Pink was born on July 13, 1954, in South Carolina. His father, Pink Anderson, a blues legend, raised him, teaching him the same Piedmont blues style, the same techniques he possessed
(old school, rural blues, Southern blues.). Blues has always been a part of Little Pink's life whether he wanted it to be or not. There were times when he felt the blues weren't for him. He recalled
the 1960's saying, "I'm sitting here playing this stupid music." Times have changed, however, and so have his attitudes toward blues music. ".now forty years later, I'm sitting here playing this
stupid music and enjoying it." Little Pink's life wasn't a fairy tale by any means. In 1972, he was arrested for armed robbery and spent seven years in jail. Many of his friends also, got caught
up in drugs and alcohol. Before to go in jail, didn't seem to be a priority for him "Well to be honest, for me, it was just a quick way to get a woman and few dollars." In 2005, Little Pink had a
stroke. Afterwards, his life began a downward spiral. As things got worse, Little Pink's health got worse as well. "The doctors told me told me I was a diabetic. it explained a whole lot of what

Arthur Neilson, born and raised in Queens New York, taught himself to play guitar on an electric Teisco Del Ray at age fifteen In 1979, Arthur caught the attention of the band Blue Angel with
his rootsy and aggressive guitar playing. After joining Blue Angel, they recorded an album for Polydor, which garnered much critical acclaim. Cyndi Lauper was the lead singer of the band.
In 1998, Shemekia Copeland found Arthur to be the guitar player that she was looking for to complete her touring band. Arthur has been performing with her across the globe and can be heard
on her latest record, "Wicked". Recently, Popa Chubby asked Arthur to be part of his New York City Blues record. Arthur contributed four of his songs, including the track "Fenderbender" which

Rezension aus Bluesnews (April/Mai 2006): Wohltuend erfrischend kommt die neue CD von Tom Principato aus den Boxen und wird seinem Namen "Guitar Gumbo" vollends gerecht. Es
handelt sich um eine gitarrenlastige Mischung aus verschiedenen Spielarten des Blues. Eigentlich sollte es reines New Orleans R&B Album werden und die Musik eines seiner Vorbilder, Snooks
Eaglin, widerspiegeln. Das ist es nicht geworden. Vielmehr bedient sich Principato teilweise an Louisiana-Rhythmen und vermengt diese mit seinem eigenen, eher rockigen Stil, Gitarre zu
spielen. Und das gelingt ihm und seinen Mitstreitern, John Perry am Bass und Joe Wells am Schlagzeug, sehr gut.Mit den selbst verfassten, rockigen Instrumentals "Return Of TRhe Voodoo

Blues and rock and roll musician Bo Ramsey is receiving international recognition for his distinstive guitar work, songwriting, record producing and powerful stage presence. In 1993, he coproduced
and played on High & Lonesome's release "Alackaday" and Kevin Gordon's self-titled album, both on Shed Records. In 1995, he played on and co-produced David Zollo's album,
"The Morning Is A Long Way From Home", on Trailer Records. His own label yielded "Brand New Love" in 1982, "Feelin's Gettin Stronger" in 83, "Northwind" in 86, "Either Way" in 88 and
"Rockinitis" in 1990. He contributed as producer, guitarist and vocalist on Greg Brown's "One Big Town". The album received a 3 1/2 star rating in Rolling Stone magazine and received the 1990
NAIRD Award for Best Adult Contemporary Pop Album Of The Year. Bo was guitarist and producer on Brown's 1990 release "Down In There" and played on Greg's 1992 record "Dream
Café". He was also guitarist and co-producer on Brown's 1994 release, "The Poet Game", named album of the month in the february 1995 issue of Stereo Review magazine before winning the

about 1966 Beverly didn't consider quitting music. She next joined up with original Ink Spot Eddie Tigner. Then there was a succession of bands. Sometimes she played in clubs, sometimes

playing guitar at the age of eight, he dedicated himself to the blues by the age of eleven, and quickly progressed from a regular at local blues jams to a respected member of Boston's
professional blues community. By the time he was fourteen, Mike had played with blues greats like Junior Wells, James Cotton, Hubert Sumlin, and Johnny Copeland, as well as stars like the
Blues Brothers Band with Dan Aykroyd, who gave Mike his nickname, "Monster Mike." Now, Monster Mike Welch presents "Just Like It Is", a very bluesy and "T. Bone Walker"oriented album
with jazz influences, including 11 Mike's songs out of 13, and certainely one of his finest to date. "Just Like It Is" was recorded the same way than the previous Mike's opus ("Cryin' Hey! ") with
