An Introduction of Maharishi’s Jyotish
Prof. Bhuvnesh Sharma
Vice-Chancellor Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic
Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur
Jyotish is the Science and Technology of consciousness. Pujya Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji has given complete
knowledge of Jyotish for its practical use & proper application for individuals, society & even nations as well.
Till now generally the concept of Jyotish or Astrology is considered only as the effects on an individual by the
Heavenly or Cosmic bodies i.e the various planets, but actually it is something more than that, because Jyotish
is the science of Consciousness ,which can lead the individuals to live life with perfection in the material world
and also to reach the highest goal of human beings, Enlightenment or the state of “Aham Brahmasmi” means
"I Am Brahma".
Maharishi Jyotish is one of the aspect of Vedang.Vedang means the part or limbs of the Veda.Vedang has its six
branches as following:
Vedang
The manifestation emerges from Pure Consciousness through Shiksha with transformation by Kalpa and
expression through Vyakaran, after the complete expression it reverts back to Self or Pure Consciousness
through Nirukt, quantifying in the form of Chhandas and reaching its on Self Pure Consciousness through
Jyotish, so we can say that Maharishi Jyotish is the most nearest to the Pure Consciousness or self of an
individual.
We can realize its importance by the following Shloka: ^^nwjsn`’ke~ x`gizfre~ vFk;qZe~**means when the consciousness
of the individuals itself looks beyond expanding outgoing to the Cosmos and finally reverts backs to find that the
whole manifestations or the expressions of creation is nothing else, but the impulses of one's own Self.
Maharishi Jyotish being sciences of Consciousness, it controls whole Manifested World besides the life of all
individuals.
By using the technology of Maharishi Jyotish we can realize the Ideal Goal of mankind as mentioned in the
Vedic Text in the order of Dharma (Action in accordance with the natural law), Artha (Getting the means for
realisation of the desires), Kama (the real accomplishment of desires)and Moksha (realisation of own self).
