ONCE IN A LIFETIME – SKILAND DER TRÄUME
Suvretta Snowsports’ heli-skiing trip to the boundless powder snow mountains of
British Columbia
Patrik Wiederkehr’s Choice
Many are the times I’ve been asked whether we could plan a heli-skiing trip. This was the incentive behind our
decision to organise a week-long exclusive heli-skiing week, in collaboration with CMH and Knecht Reisen, the
leading specialists in the field, in the “skiing destination of one’s dreams”: British Columbia in Canada. As ski
school director, it is my lucky duty and a great pleasure to personally accompany you and share with you this
“once in a lifetime experience”.
Back to the Roots
Our first trip takes us to the place where heli-skiing was invented. The diverse and demanding Selkirk
Mountains seem to have been created in answer to the dreams of all freeriders. High glaciers, wide,
interminable descents and fantastic “tree skiing” is what awaits us in this mountain range in British Columbia.
A sea of virgin, glistening powder snow. No lift queues, no pistes, no advertising – just long, free downhill runs
of dry, spraying powder!
The highest landing sites are more than 3,000 metres above sea level, guaranteeing fantastic conditions until
well into the spring. On bad weather days there are wonderful forests with large gaps between the trees.
Snow unimpaired by wind or sun as far as the eye can see.
The Adamants Lodge is a real Canadian mountain hut! Its cosy rusticity and small luxuries such as a whirlpool
and massage facilities offer the perfect way to relax after long, adrenalin-fuelled days in the snow.
A new dimension
Everyone is looking to trace his or her own route through the endless, twinkling powder. Whether gliding
smoothly over mountain rises, skiing with the utmost concentration through forests or jumping with abandon,
the heart of every skier and snowboarder beats faster here. The only thing that will force you to perform a
sudden downhill turn are your burning thighs.
Experience skiing at its purest one more time towards the end of the season, between 13 and 22 April 2012, in
what is probably the most extensive and isolated mountain range in the world. Delight in the skiing destination
of your dreams – for me it’s not merely a profession and a hobby, it’s a passion and a vocation. So join in and
share this unique adventure with me!
