Dear Pupils,<br />

<strong>Bromsgrove</strong> <strong>School</strong> is offering pupils in the Upper 4th and above a fantastic opportunity <strong>to</strong> <strong>Learn</strong> <strong>to</strong> Scuba <strong>Dive</strong><br />

and gain an internationally recognised qualification <strong>with</strong> <strong>PADI</strong>. The <strong>PADI</strong> Open Water course is the worlds most<br />

popular course and will introduces you <strong>to</strong> the adventurous diving lifestyle. Places are limited and so <strong>to</strong> take<br />

advantage of this offer be sure <strong>to</strong> sign up as soon as possible. The <strong>to</strong>tal cost of the course will be at an<br />

introduc<strong>to</strong>ry price of £200. This is fantastic value, as on average, this course would normally cost you in excess of<br />

£350<br />

The <strong>PADI</strong> Open Water Qualification consists of 3 main phases<br />

1. Knowledge and Development – understanding the basic principles of scuba diving<br />

2. Confined Water <strong>Dive</strong>s – <strong>to</strong> learn the basic skills<br />

3. Open Water <strong>Dive</strong>s – <strong>to</strong> review your skills and <strong>to</strong> explore your new underwater world<br />

The <strong>PADI</strong> Open Water Certificate is open <strong>to</strong> anyone over the age of 15. The only other prerequisites are that you<br />

are healthy, can swim 200 meters continuously and tread water / float for 10 minutes<br />

The Course will be run over a two-week programme consisting of 2 Classroom & Pool sessions on a Wednesday<br />

and Friday from 7-9:30pm and 4 open water dives on consecutive Sundays from 9am-4pm.<br />

Communication and Procedures<br />

Adapting <strong>to</strong> the Underwater World<br />

Personal Buoyancy and Navigation<br />

<strong>Dive</strong> Accessories and Exposure Suits<br />

The price includes:<br />

I. All tuition from highly qualified instruc<strong>to</strong>rs<br />

II. All Course Manuals and Tables<br />

III. All Equipment Hire<br />

IV. 4 hours Confined Water Scuba Diving<br />

V. 4 Open Water <strong>Dive</strong>s at a local <strong>Dive</strong> Site inc. transport costs and dive site fees<br />

Mr Darren Ellis, <strong>PADI</strong> Direc<strong>to</strong>r of Scuba <strong>School</strong> and his team of Instruc<strong>to</strong>rs and <strong>Dive</strong> Masters will lead the Open<br />

Water qualification. Mr S. Noble, also a <strong>Dive</strong> Master <strong>with</strong> a number of years experience, will be coordinating the<br />

programme as a member of <strong>Bromsgrove</strong> <strong>School</strong> Teaching Staff. If you would like <strong>to</strong> complete this course next<br />

Term you will need <strong>to</strong> get your Parent / Guardian <strong>to</strong> Sign for permission. On doing so, a non-refundable charge of<br />

£200 will be added <strong>to</strong> the <strong>School</strong> Bill.<br />

In addition <strong>to</strong> the permission form, the following <strong>PADI</strong> specific forms will need <strong>to</strong> be completed:<br />

1. <strong>PADI</strong> Medical Statement (only the first page is required unless YES is answered <strong>to</strong> one of the questions)<br />

2. <strong>PADI</strong> Safe Practices Statement of Understanding<br />

3. <strong>PADI</strong> Statement of Risk and Liability<br />

All Permissions and Application Forms must be returned <strong>to</strong> Mr Noble by Thursday the 18 th April 2013. Once all<br />

applications have been made, pupils will be given the dates of their course. Places are limited and so applications<br />
