Learn to Dive with PADI
Dear Pupils,
Bromsgrove School is offering pupils in the Upper 4th and above a fantastic opportunity to Learn to Scuba Dive
and gain an internationally recognised qualification with PADI. The PADI Open Water course is the worlds most
popular course and will introduces you to the adventurous diving lifestyle. Places are limited and so to take
advantage of this offer be sure to sign up as soon as possible. The total cost of the course will be at an
introductory price of £200. This is fantastic value, as on average, this course would normally cost you in excess of
£350
The PADI Open Water Qualification consists of 3 main phases
1. Knowledge and Development – understanding the basic principles of scuba diving
2. Confined Water Dives – to learn the basic skills
3. Open Water Dives – to review your skills and to explore your new underwater world
The PADI Open Water Certificate is open to anyone over the age of 15. The only other prerequisites are that you
are healthy, can swim 200 meters continuously and tread water / float for 10 minutes
The Course will be run over a two-week programme consisting of 2 Classroom & Pool sessions on a Wednesday
and Friday from 7-9:30pm and 4 open water dives on consecutive Sundays from 9am-4pm.
The Programme will cover the following and more:
Scuba Dive Equipment and the Buddy System
Communication and Procedures
Adapting to the Underwater World
Dive Planning, Dive Tables and Dive Computers
Personal Buoyancy and Navigation
Dive Accessories and Exposure Suits
The price includes:
I. All tuition from highly qualified instructors
II. All Course Manuals and Tables
III. All Equipment Hire
IV. 4 hours Confined Water Scuba Diving
V. 4 Open Water Dives at a local Dive Site inc. transport costs and dive site fees
Mr Darren Ellis, PADI Director of Scuba School and his team of Instructors and Dive Masters will lead the Open
Water qualification. Mr S. Noble, also a Dive Master with a number of years experience, will be coordinating the
programme as a member of Bromsgrove School Teaching Staff. If you would like to complete this course next
Term you will need to get your Parent / Guardian to Sign for permission. On doing so, a non-refundable charge of
£200 will be added to the School Bill.
In addition to the permission form, the following PADI specific forms will need to be completed:
1. PADI Medical Statement (only the first page is required unless YES is answered to one of the questions)
2. PADI Safe Practices Statement of Understanding
3. PADI Statement of Risk and Liability
All Permissions and Application Forms must be returned to Mr Noble by Thursday the 18 th April 2013. Once all
applications have been made, pupils will be given the dates of their course. Places are limited and so applications
