Certified Wireless USB is a new extension to Universal Serial Bus (USB) that<br />
is based on the WiMedia Alliance’s ultra-wideband (<strong>UWB</strong>) wireless platform,<br />
which allows high-speed wireless communication over short distances<br />
(480 Mb/s at 3 meters, dropping to 100 Mb/s at 10 meters).<br />
The <strong>LeCroy</strong> <strong>UWB</strong>Tracer Product Family offers the most advanced analysis<br />
tools for WiMedia’s <strong>UWB</strong> common radio platform and Certified Wireless USB.<br />
It provides capture of over-the-air and wire-line MAC-PHY interface (MPI)<br />
traffic to assist early adopters integrating <strong>UWB</strong> chipsets. The<br />
<strong>UWB</strong>Trainer is a traffic generator that can be used to transmit<br />
valid and invalid WiMedia packets. Invaluable<br />
in the development of <strong>UWB</strong> silicon,<br />
firmware and software, <strong>LeCroy</strong>’s<br />
integrated analyzer / exerciser<br />
system allows design engineers to<br />
test functionality, error recovery and<br />
compliance for protocols based on WiMedia<br />
including Wireless USB and WLP.<br />
The <strong>UWB</strong>Tracer also offers interchangeable radio front-ends to add flexibility<br />
in supporting different physical implementations and upgradeability for future<br />
changes in the RF specifications.<br />

All <strong>UWB</strong>Tracer Systems are supplied with a dual-module chassis and include the carry case. The radio/MPI module occupies the righthand<br />
slot, leaving the left-hand slot available for the USB Association Option (included in Pro System, optional for Standard and<br />
Advanced Systems—see accessory modules below) or for the <strong>UWB</strong>Trainer Exerciser Option. The MPI Kit includes cables and board<br />
adapters for 40-pin IDE, and 68-pin and 60-pin Hirose connectors.
<strong>UWB</strong>Tracer/Trainer Modules<br />
These modules fit an existing <strong>UWB</strong>Tracer chassis. The chassis can<br />
contain a maximum of 2 modules at any one time.<br />
