BACKGROUND OF THE CINCINNATI, PORTSMOUTH, BIG SANDY AND POMEROY<br />

PACKET COMPANY<br />

CINCINNATI, POMEROY & CHARLESTON PACKET CO., known also under the<br />

nick-name WHITE COLLAR LINE (which came from the two white<br />

collars painted on the stacks),was a steamboat company with a<br />

wharf-boat located in 206 E. Front St., <strong>Cincinnati</strong> <strong>and</strong> operated<br />

on Ohio River in 1890s. In 1904 the company was bought by Captain<br />

Gordon Green in 1904 <strong>and</strong> renamed it as a GREENE LINE.<br />

Description<br />

This Cabin Register Book dates back to 1895 <strong>and</strong> goes<br />

through 1896 for the Steamers Bonanza <strong>and</strong> Sunshine. It states<br />

the dates of departure <strong>and</strong> the trip number. It also provides<br />

information on the passengers such as the room number,<br />

passengers’ name, embarkation, destination, <strong>and</strong> the amount that<br />

they paid.
