BACKGROUND OF THE CINCINNATI, PORTSMOUTH, BIG SANDY AND POMEROY
PACKET COMPANY
CINCINNATI, POMEROY & CHARLESTON PACKET CO., known also under the
nick-name WHITE COLLAR LINE (which came from the two white
collars painted on the stacks),was a steamboat company with a
wharf-boat located in 206 E. Front St., Cincinnati and operated
on Ohio River in 1890s. In 1904 the company was bought by Captain
Gordon Green in 1904 and renamed it as a GREENE LINE.

This Cabin Register Book dates back to 1895 and goes
through 1896 for the Steamers Bonanza and Sunshine. It states
the dates of departure and the trip number. It also provides
information on the passengers such as the room number,
passengers’ name, embarkation, destination, and the amount that
they paid.
