Projects
Oswestry School’s governors continue to invest in the
School at all levels. It is clear that, despite its size and the
current economic climate, Oswestry School continues
to flourish and expand.
WiFi on Campus
Pupils and staff may now enjoy
free Wi-Fi access throughout the
Senior School site, inside and
out. This innovative project will
enhance and support Oswestry
School’s reputation for academic
excellence. The Wi-Fi project,
at an investment of over £130k,
allows pupils to bring their own
devices (BYOD) into class for
a fully interactive lesson in any
subject.
Maes-y-Llan Car Park
At a cost of over £30k, local
contractors have provided a ‘green’
solution for the new Maes-y-Llan
car park, allowing water to filtrate
through the soil back into the
ecosystem, rather than through
drains. The new car park will
ensure the Senior School site is
traffic free.
The Quarry Building
The Quarry Building has been
converted into Humanities
classrooms. Geography,
Business Studies, EAL, Politics,
Psychology, Religious Studies
and Economics now benefit from
refurbished classrooms. We now
have a completely updated and
refurbished Learning Support
Department Suite complete with
new kitchen. Over £10K has been
spent on new girls’ WCs in the
Quarry building.
Spooner Cottage has been converted,
at a cost of £100K, to an IGCSE Study
Centre. Oswestry School used local
contractors for the entire project,
helping to boost the local economy.
A Jubilee Bench has been placed by the
Memorial Garden, at a cost of £1500.
School House has had a new wet
room and showers installed – a
£20k investment, completed by local
contractors. Over £10K has been spent
renovating the Georgian staircase.
Bellan House The redecoration of the
Prep Department’s foyer and staircase
is a further £10K investment. A new
Year 5 classroom has been created, at
a cost of £5k. The Prep Department
now benefits from refurbished WCs.
New outside changing rooms are being
created from a previously unused
outbuilding.
Dedicated Sixth Form Centre A new
dedicated Sixth Form Centre has been
refurbished from the previous Lower
School building, to include a common
room, private study rooms, reading
room and new cloakroom facilities for
staff and Sixth Form pupils.
Mini Buses The School has invested
in two 17-Seater Vauxhall Movano
Minibuses. After viewing various makes
the School chose the Vauxhall Movano’s
due to their generous storage capacity,
low emissions and fuel efficiency.
