Jacob’s Winter Tour 

It was so good to meet and put names to faces of many of you who 

call or write me at Moriel in Pittsburgh. The tour has gone well and the 

conference in Tempe, AZ on Jerusalem went very well. The teachings

were great and Jacob brought forth some new teachings that were very challenging, 

and I look forward to hearing them again in order to take in all he taught. It was very 

anointing. We should have these teachings ready very soon, so tune into the website 

for ordering details. Some of the new media is already available. 

Jacob’s upcoming American Summer/Fall Tour 

We are filling up dates very fast and we do have some dates open at this point. So, 

if your church would like to have Jacob, please give me a call as soon as possible at 

the Pittsburgh office. At this point we start in Chino Hills at David Hocking’s annual 

prophecy conference and end at the annual Winnipeg Canada Prophecy Conference. 

We will also be having Jacob in Pittsburgh for his Labor Day weekend visit. Also we 

will be doing the 2 nd annual Laredo Texas Conference. We are also planning to go to 

Mexico to do some teaching at some of the churches there, so we request prayers for 

this endeavor. This is a wonderful chance to reach many people with the gospel of 

Jesus. The most up to date details can be found on the website. 

Prayer Needs 

This coming June Jacob will be traveling to the Far East visiting Japan, Hong Kong, 

Singapore and finishing his Far East tour with Australia and New Zealand. As many 

of you know Moriel has opened a branch in Japan and have a website up in Japanese, 

and the work has started to grow. So, we need prayer for the Japan’s administrator 

Geoff, his family, church and the work he is doing there. Japan is one of the toughest 

mission fields there is and the gospel has barely penetrated there. But, the website is 

drawing hits so please pray for this budding work. Also, Geoff is working simultaneously 

expanding into the Philippines. A number of churches there have expressed an 

interest in the Jewish roots of the faith as well as learning to understand the way the 

apostles and Jews handle the scriptures midrashically. 

Also on top of this some meetings have been arranged in Hong Kong to possibly 

expand Moriel teaching into China and Vietnam. This is an exciting opportunity. As 

many of you know the apostasy is in full swing as many are departing from the faith 

because of the use of global television networks such as TBN. While the false teachers 

and doctrines have preceded Moriel into the Far East, there is a faithful remnant 

searching for Truth and it appears that God is opening the door to Moriel. So, again, 

please pray we can expand the teaching the Lord has given Moriel. We will need 

translators for the various languages and we would ask help with this in seeking the 

Lord’s providing nature in these endeavors. 

After Jacob leaves New Zealand, he returns to America were we will be starting with 

David Hocking’s annual Prophecy Conference at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, which 

is always filled with great teaching. Later in August we will return to Laredo, Texas 

for the 2 nd Annual Bible Conference. The theme this year is, Rescuing Your Loved One 

From Deception. Speaking this year will be our good friends John Higgins and Mike 

Gendron. Also, we will be introducing my good friend Keith Walker who is a full 

time evangelist to both Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses. He has a wonderful way of 

witnessing to these groups and you will learn a lot from him. So, we are planning on 

doing some great sessions that will equip and help you to lead your loved ones from 

the deceptions that ensnare them. Tune into the website for details and times these 

sessions will be broadcast on Godly Conferences. Sessions will be on how to witness 

to those in Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses and Judaism. We 

have not fully worked out all the sessions topics, so please pray that this conference 

will be helpful to those of us who have family trapped in deception. Another positive 

event might happen we are still working on, is having some meeting across the border 

in Mexico. An evangelist to the Mexicans came to the meetings last year in Laredo, 

liked what he heard, and is trying to arrange some meeting. All of this needs your 

prayers to cover Jacob and Moriel as we follow Him through the doors He is opening. 

As I close, I ask for your prayers for myself as I am trying to transform from full time 

employment into full time ministry. Moriel has grown and the responsibilities have 

increased greatly and are demanding more and more of my time. Please pray I can do 

this in the Lord’s timing and strength. So, thank you all for your prayerful support.

Let us begin with 2 Peter 2:1… 

But false prophets also arose among 

the people, just as there will also 

be false teachers among you, who 

will secretly introduce destructive 

heresies, even denying the Master 

who bought them, bringing 

swift destruction upon themselves. 

Notice that Peter is inspired by the 

Holy Spirit to use “false teachers” and 

“false prophets” interchangeably. The reason 

he does this is because if somebody’s 

doctrine is wrong, if their teaching is 

wrong, if their “didaskin” is wrong, their 

prophecies will be wrong. 

Why do people like Rick Joyner and 

Cindy Jacobs and Benny Hinn predict 

things that do not happen? Why do they 

get it wrong so often? Why do they usually 

get it wrong? I would have to say that 

there are fortune tellers and astrologists 

who are more accurate than people in the 

church claiming to be prophets because 

people who openly practice the occult 

– witchcraft, have a better track record 

than people like Benny Hinn and Cindy 

Jacobs. Why do they get it wrong? Well, 

their prophecies are wrong because their 

doctrine is wrong. If somebody’s teaching 

is wrong their prophecies are going to be 

wrong. God will not give a prophetic revelation, 

certainly not something with some 

future prediction, to somebody who is unable 

to test it and weigh it and evaluate it 

biblically. It just does not work that way. 

Introducing a Mixture 

But Peter continues… 

…they will secretly introduce destructive 

heresies… 

The Greek prefix “para” as in “paramedic”, 

“paralegal,” “paramilitary” means 

“next to.” The Greek word used here, “pareisaxousin,” 

means they put truth next 

to error. As we warned, God hates the 

mixture. The Hebrews could not make a 

garment of wool and flax. (Dt. 22:11) In 

Laodicea was the hot water and the cold. 

“I wish you were either cold or hot”, but 

when you have the mixture – the lukewarm, 

you spit it out. (Rev. 3:16) Forget 

about this argument there is “some” good 

in it or there is “some” truth in it; the notion 

that we will take just the “good” bits – that 

is man’s wisdom not God’s. “A little leaven 

leavens the whole lump.” (1 Co. 5:6; Gal. 

5:9) But it says when they do this they will 

deny “the Master who bought them.” You 

will see this and then you will know the 

truth about them. 

Kenneth Copeland said on television 

once, and it is on a DVD we have, 

he could have died for our sins instead of 

Jesus Christ because he is born again. He 

denies the Master who bought him. On the 

cross Jesus said, “It is finished” (Jn. 19:30) 

and “Father, into Your hands I commend 

My spirit.” (Lk. 23:46) But they say, “No, 

Satan got the victory on the cross – Jesus 

was tortured in hell three days and three 

nights and had to be born again in hell after 

He became one nature with Satan.” They 

deny the Master who bought them. 

The believability, the plausibility, the 

credibility of the Gospel depends on the 

historicity of the resurrection. If Christ is 

not risen as an objective, historical fact the 

New Testament actually says we should be 

gambling and getting drunk and fornicating 

and carrying on with the world; (1 Co. 

15:32) we are foolish for not living decadent, 

immoral lives. We are foolish to believe 

what we believe. We should be out 

living like the world does, partying with 

the world. We are foolish for not being like 

them if Christ is not risen. 

Yet we are confronted with the Emergent 

Church guru Brian McLaren telling 

people Christianity is not now, nor has it ever 

been based, on propositional truth. Propositional 

truth means something is either true 

of false – it is a true or false statement. If 

Christ has not risen as a propositional truth 

there is no Gospel worth believing! There 

is just no Gospel! They deny the Master 

who bought them. And they always play 

the same game; they put truth next to error. 

Sensuality for Spirituality 

Continuing with 2 Peter 2:2… 

Many will follow their sensuality, and 

because of them the way of the truth 

will be maligned; 

Now we have a problem. What draws 

people to follow such people as Kenneth 

Copeland or Benny Hinn or Cindy Jacobs? 

These people are sensual and those who 

are led by sensuality are attracted to them. 

Some of the videos I saw of the “Laughing 

Revival” in Toronto were not only sensual, 

they were sexual. They were vulgar. 

Them were immoral. They were unspeakable. 

Well something happens when you 

lose a biblical base – feeling and emotion become 

confused with spirituality. The Bible 

is tossed out, and once the Bible goes, dis-

cernment goes. A spirit of sensuality takes 

over which they imagine to be spiritual. 

This is exactly, precisely what takes 

place in Kundalini yoga in mystical Buddhism 

and in Hinduism. It is exactly 

Kundalini yoga, the serpent spirit. The 

soothsayer at Philippi had a pytheon spirit. 

(Acts 16:16) It goes back to the snake, the 

serpent in the Garden. People are draw 

into it by sensuality. Emotion and physical 

expression are to be controlled and applied 

in a biblical and godly way. They are to 

be the “tools”, not the “carpenter;” they 

are to be the “servants”, not the “master.” 

But when arises sensuality, the sensuality 

usurps what should be the new creation 

controlling these things – the new creation 

in league and motivated by God’s Spirit 

and working on the basis of His Word. 

This gets usurped. 

So there is an element of sensuality in 

this stuff. Sensuality leads itself to spiritual 

seduction and even to something called 

“post-hypnotic suggestion.” Psychologically 

it leaves itself open to post-hypnotic 

suggestion, but theologically it leaves itself 

open to spiritual seduction. So a lot 

of what we see today is a combination of 

spiritual seduction and post-hypnotic suggestion. 

A False Word 

… the way of the truth will be maligned…” 

Now Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the 

Life. (Jn. 14:6) He is the Way of Truth – the 

real Jesus and His teaching. The way of salvation 

becomes maligned, so what follows? 

… and in their greed they will exploit you 

with false words.. 

Those who do this are financially motivated. 

They have an economic incentive 

to malign the Word of God and to manipulate 

people with sensuality calling it “spirituality”. 

But this requires something and 

that we want to look at. In order to do this 

with their greed they will exploit with their 

false words. 

Jesus is the “Logos”, the incarnate 

Word. “En arche kai ho logos” – “In the 

beginning was the Word.” (Jn. 1:1) The 

Word is the Bible, the Word is Jesus. In 

Hebrew it is “dabar Adonai”. Greek uses 

case endings (nouns have case endings) 

– nominative, locative, accusative, genitive 

– do not worry about that, but “logon” 

is the same word as “logos.” It simply indicates 

the way the word “logos” is used in 

a sentence. (It specifies who is performing 

the action and who is the recipient of the 

action. In Greek the order of words does 

not matter; you can put the words in any 

order because the case ending reveals who 

is the subject and who is the object. Order 

does not matter.) But as previously discussed 

in the sermon, The Spirit of Truth 

and the Spirit of Error, I explained the 

“pseudologon.” We have a “logon” and a 

“pseudologon,” a false word of God. 

The Book of Mormon is a pseudologon. 

The Watch Tower is a pseudologon. 

A papal encyclical is a pseudologon. The 

Quran is a pseudologon. All these cults and 

false religions have pseudologons and all 

pseudologons try to imitate or counterfeit 

the Bible in some way. The Quran takes 

biblical passages and twists and changes 

them. The Mormons tried to put the Book 

of Mormon into King James English to 

make it look like Scripture. They all try to 

make it look like the logon. Pseudologon 

will always try to look like a logon. They 

all try to mimic the Bible in some way; 

they all ape the Word of God and people 

get taken in by it. The Mormons have TV 

commercials in America advertising, “It’s 

another testament of Jesus Christ.” It tries 

to make it look the same as the first one. 

This is a pseudologon. 

Pseudologon is the other word for “antichrist” 

that most people do not think of. 

“Antichrist” means “in place of Christ”, “a 

false Christ.” A pseudologon is a false word 

of God. However, there is a term here that is 

just as important, but it is not a pseudologon. 

A Fabricated Word 

I am going to read this now in the 

Greek language and it is really shocking. 

In verse 3… 

Kai en pleonexia plastois logois oupas 

emporeusontai hois to krima ekpalai 

ouk argei kai he apoleia auton ou 

nystazei. 

“Plastois logon.” “Plastois” is the 

source of two English words. It is the 

Greek word for “fabricated”, but it is also 

where we also obviously get what English 

word? “Plastic.” “The plastic Bible”. Look 

at verse 3… 

… in their greed they will exploit you… 

They are looking to exploit Christians. 

Peter is writing to believers, mainly to Jewish 

believers. That is also important and 

interesting. They will exploit with a “plastic 

Bible” – plastois logos. That is quite a 

thing. In their greed they will exploit with 

a plastic Bible. 

Cults, false religions, corruptions of 

Christianity which obviously are non-Evangelical 

in the biblical sense with a different 

gospel will have a pseudologos. They will 

have a Book of Mormon, a Watch Tower, 

a papal encyclical – something like that. 

They will have a Quran. They will have a 

pseudologon. They will have another book 

which they claim is equal in authority to 

the Scriptures. With Talmudic Judaism it is 

the Talmud. They will have another book. 

Again, Peter is writing to Jewish believers 

and he is warning Jewish believers about 

getting into rabbinic tradition. That is the 

pseudologos. This is something much more 

sinister. This is the plastois logos. This is 

a malignment of the actual Bible. It is not 

another book like the Book of Mormon; it 

is not another book like the Quran; this is 

an actual hatchet job on the Word of God. 

And the context of Peter is, in large 

measure, eschatological. Right after this 

he begins speaking about events to come 

eschatologically, comparing Sodom and 

Gomorrah and the rescue of Lot to the 

coming Rapture and so forth. He puts this 

in an eschatological context. 

But let us go back to understand this 

in context with the previous chapter. Remember, 

there is no chapter division in the 

original Greek. Chapter 1:20… 

But know this first of all, that no 

prophecy of Scripture is a matter of 

one’s own interpretation… 

When these guys do this one of the 

first things, if not the first thing they do, 

is make biblical prophecy a matter of their 

own interpretation to the point, sometimes, 

of being ridiculous. “When I look upon 

Thy word I shall tremble.” (Is. 66:5) “Well 

that’s a prophecy about somebody on the 

floor shaking crazy in Toronto.” I have actually 

heard them say this in England. It 

is nuts because it is a matter of their own 

interpretation, and of course it appeals to 

people on the basis of sensuality. 

The Original Languages 

But let us look at the Logos. We will 

begin with Nehemiah 8:8 The historical 

setting of this is when the people come 

back from the Captivity in Babylon, at that 

particular time, Hebrew was merely a liturgical 

language known, essentially, by 

the Levitical priests. The common people 

took on the lingua franca, which was Chaldee. 

In the Babylonian Captivity they took 

on Chaldee, the original Aramaic. They 

spoke Aramaic. There was a Hebrew dialect 

of Aramaic that is the closest thing to 

it, probably what Jesus would have spoke, 

something called a Peshita Text, the closest 

we have to it probably, but they spoke 

Aramaic; they did not know Hebrew that 

much, it was a liturgical language. 

They read from the book. from the law of 

God… 

Actually it would have been a scroll, a 

“megilot torah”… 

… translating… 

… or explaining… 

… to give the sense so that they understood 

the reading. 

Not the “meaning,” but the “reading.” 

God gave His Word in Hebrew, Greek 


– and in certain sections of Daniel – Aramaic. 

The priority is always on the original 

manuscripts in the original languages. 

These are called “autographs.” 

Jesus is fully human and fully divine. 

He is not 50% God, 50% man – that was the 

Greek concept. Hercules was half man and 

half god. That was the Greek concept. Jesus 

was not half-and-half, He was a hundred 

and a hundred, fully human and fully divine. 

He was God and man. He is the Logos, 

is He not? The Logos became “sarx” – “the 

Word became flesh.” (Jn. 1:14) Therefore 

the Logos is fully human and fully divine. 

The gospel of Matthew is 100% the 

word of Matthew and 100% the Word of 

God. The book of Isaiah is 100% the Word 

of God and 100% the word of Isaiah. It is 

the Word of God in the word of man. It 

does not make it any less human, does not 

make it any less divine. Jesus is no less human 

because He is God and He is no less 

God because He is human. The Bible is no 

less divine because it is human and it is no 

less human because it is divine. That is the 

Bible, that is the autograph, what the Holy 

Spirit inspired the initial authors to write 

in the languages they wrote in. That is 

the autographs. 

Nehemiah says this was the priority, that 

people had to understand what they were 

reading. The original meaning of the original 

Hebrew had to be explained to the people 

because they did not know it any more. 

The priority was on the original language. 

The King James-Only 

Phenomena 

There are people today who do not do 

that. The worst malefactors are Ruckmanites 

– followers of Peter Ruckman, a man 

on his third divorce. I heard a tape of Ruckman 

when I was in New Zealand one time 

that one of his followers gave me. And I 

guess he was trying to defend the fact he 

was on his third marriage. And he prefaced 

the tape by saying, “As usual at no time on 

this tape will I refer to the original Greek 

or Hebrew for the simple reason that anyone 

who goes into error goes into error by 

deviating from the King James – the 1611 

edition of the King James.” Which is actually 

a translation of a translation. 

He has taken a post-Elizabethan translation 

of a translation and gives it priority 

over the original languages to the point 

where he says that any additions in the 

King James not found in the original (and 

they follow the Textus Receptus in the New 

Testament and the Masoretic in the Old) 

– he actually says the additions in the King 

James are “further revelation.” 

There are all kinds of kooks who love 

this stuff, particularly British Israelites, people 

who say that the Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-Celtic 

nations are the lost tribes of Israel. 

It is complete anthropological and biblical 

nonsense, but the “purity” of the English 

language over the originals? Replacement 

Theology and related nonsense – they love 

this stuff. It is nonsense, but they love it. 

I am not putting down the King James 

you understand; I am not putting down the 

Bible. I am not putting down the work of 

Coverdale or the work of Tyndale; I am 

not putting that down. Those people themselves 

admitted they were faithful to the 

manuscript evidence they had. God used 

this Bible tremendously, but to say that the 

King James is the “standard” of orthodoxy 

is ridiculous. God did not give His Word in 

English and He especially did not give His 

Word in the 17 th Century! 

More than that I can prove to anybody 

that there are obvious mistakes in the King 

James. It does not follow the Textus Receptus 

or the Masoretic. I can show over fifty 

errors in the King James. That is not to say 

it is a corrupted Bible, but it is to say it is 

not perfect. Easter comes from Ashtoreth 

worship. Jesus rose from the dead, according 

to all four gospels, on the Hebrew Feast 

of First Fruits, the first day of the week of 

the feast of Hag Matzot, of Unleavened 

Bread. That is when it happened. Where 

does the King James justify using the word 

“Easter”? That is the first Sunday after the 

Spring Equinox and that was a pagan holiday 

based on Ashtoreth-worship. It is in 

the King James. The Holy Spirit is called 

an “It”. The Jehovah’s Witnesses love it. I 

will show you the Old Testament – plenty 

of mistakes. 

I am not putting down the King James 

or the people who read it, I am simply saying 

the priority is on the original languages. 

There are differences in the underlying 

manuscripts, but in the majority texts and so 

forth it is nothing that affects doctrine or historicity 

taken comprehensively as a whole. 

These crazy King James-only people 

are using another version, a translation, 

giving that priority over the originals of the 

autographs. And she writes, “There’s nothing 

wrong with our Reformation Bible!” 

There is nothing wrong with your Reformation 

Bible? Luther nailed the 95 Theses 

to the door of the Whittenburg Cathedral 

in 1513. The first comprehensive edition 

of the King James Bible was published a 

hundred years later after the Reformation 

in 1611. It had nothing to do with the Reformation! 

It is like John Calvin; he was 

a baby when the Reformation happened. 

These guys came after the Reformation. 

It had nothing to do with the Reformation. 

The Reformation was Erasmus and Luther 

and Zwingli. Those guys were the Reformation 

followed by Cranmer and Tyndale 

in England, but the King James Bible did 


not exist at that time! 

More than that, when the Pilgrims 

came to America they would not touch the 

King James Bible. They used the Geneva 

Bible which was brought back to England 

and translated from Calvin’s Geneva by 

people who were forced out of England 

during the persecution of Queen Mary. 

When they came back that is what they 

took. Why? Why did they not like the King 

James Bible? Because its mother was Mary 

Queen of Scotts, a Catholic, and there was 

too much Roman Catholic influence in the 

original King James. The “Feast of the 

Ascension,” the “Feast of the Annunciation” 

of the virgin Mary – that was all in 

the King James Bible. Additionally he was 

renowned to be, and to this day historians 

and even Churchill said, he was a homosexual. 

They did not want a Bible authorized 

by a homosexual. 

Who authorized the Authorized Version? 

A homosexual who had a young, 

male lover. The gay and lesbian agenda 

is to ordain homosexuals so they love the 

King James. “Gay people gave you your 

Bible!” They can say that, and they can 

say it with some truth, but the Pilgrims and 

the like would not touch it because King 

James persecuted born again Christians. 

He killed them. He killed Independents, he 

killed Baptists, he killed saved Christians. 

So we have the autographs. Now again, 

I am not putting down the King James or 

those who read it, I am simply saying they 

are a bunch of kooks. One woman in particular 

is a charlatan, the author of New Age 

Bible Versions and other related books at 

the forefront of the King James-Only movement. 

Gail Riplinger, when she was interviewed 

by CRI Journal, revealed she could 

not even read the Greek or Hebrew languages. 

Her degree is in home economics. 

Approaches to Bible 

Translation 

How many people here speak a foreign 

language? If we were to read El Cid in 

Spanish, is it possible that somebody who 

could not read it, could tell which version 

of El Cid was the closest to what Cervantes 

actually authored? How can someone possibly 

misrepresent their self as an “expert 

of accuracy” in a language they themselves 

cannot even read? And Riplinger begins 

using Kabala. She does not call it that, but 

she begins using Kabala to say how God 

showed her these things. “Kabala” is mystical 

Judaism. 

There are two approaches that most of 

us would adhere to for a Bible translation. 

We have what we might call “literal.” If 

we want a Bible that is really literal that 

will tell us exactly as close as we can get 

in English what the original Greek or He- 



brew says, we can get a copy of something 

called Young’s Literal. We can get Young’s 

Literal and it will follow pretty much 

word-for-word what it says in the original. 

We can also get Bibles where we would 

have interlinear, where they put the English 

word directly underneath the Greek or 

Hebrew word. Then we could have a Bible 

that tries to achieve the same thing by putting 

in brackets or parenthesis the meaning 

of the original words for people who 

do not know Greek and Hebrew. They call 

this “amplified.” 

These very literal approaches are very 

good for people particularly who do not 

know the original languages for study purposes. 

The problem is they are unreadable. 

We cannot read it! You certainly cannot 

preach from it or witness from it. If someone 

is preparing a teaching and they want 

to get into the thing OK, but it is not readable. 

It has its purpose, these things have 

their value, they are great study aids, but 

they are not readable. 

So some people come along and say, 

“We can’t be that literal so what we will 

do is take a literal approach but we will 

interpolate.” When someone interpolates 

it is not exactly literal, but it is literalist. 

What happens when someone interpolates? 

They insert words, sometimes two 

or three words, in italics that are not in the 

original Greek or Hebrew, but they make 

the text readable in English. By italicizing 

them they are telling people it is a word not 

in the original language, but this is what it 

means so we can read it. 

Unfortunately, the King James-only 

kooks claim if something is italicized it has 

been taken it “out” of the Word of God, not 

realizing that the King James is the same 

thing without italicizing. Most people I 

know take a literalist Bible. They will take 

the New English (this is very good) or the 

New American Standard. Those are two 

good ones. They are quite close, as close 

as you can reasonably get to the original 

Greek and Hebrew where it is still readable. 

They go nuts with all kinds of stuff, 

because the King James-only people only 

follow the Textus Receptus and Masoretic. 

If someone puts in a footnote in the literalist 

approach that says, “Not all manuscripts 

contain this verse,” you are only being 

faithful to the manuscript record. But 

they begin screaming, “You’re saying it’s 

not canonical!,” ignoring the fact that they 

have got stuff in the King James that is not 

in the Masoretic anyway. “If I forget the 

Old Jerusalem may I forget my right hand.” 

(Ps. 137:5) They say, “May my right hand 

forget its cunning.” They are doing the 

same thing. This is a literalist approach. 

So far I do not see a lot of reason for 

controversy except the kooks make trouble 

over it. As long as you recognize what Nehemiah 

did, the priority is on the original 

autographs. 

Dynamic Equivalence 

But then there are people who come 

along and say, “Well, we have to be seeker-friendly” 

or perhaps, “We’re trying 

to reach unsaved people.” And the King 

James presents a problem. Try knocking 

on a door and saying to somebody, “Verily, 

verily I say unto thee you must be born 

again,” (Jn. 3:3) and they will look at you 

like you are crazy. What is “verily?” We 

have the same problem in that we have to 

find a way to translate the idea. This is not 

my ideal, but there are those who follow 

something called “Dynamic Equivalence” 

and there are those who decry the New International 

Version, which I admit, in my 

opinion, is not a very good translation – I 

do not like it for a couple of reasons. 

The problem is when someone tries to 

make it into a theological argument, they 

have walked into a quagmire. This is because 

the first dynamically equivalent 

Bible was not the NIV, the first dynamically 

equivalent Bible was the Septuagint. 

And the New Testament autographs, when 

they quote the Old Testament ( with a partial 

exception of Matthew and certain other 

things) do not quote the Hebrew, they quote 

the Septuagint. We may not like “Dynamic 

Equivalence” – I do not care much for 

it myself in English, but to try to make a 

theological argument it is “bad” presents 

a problem because the inspired writings 

of the apostles use it. The New Testament 

was written in Greek. People could not understand 

the Masoretic so they had to quote 

from Greek. 

Some of these guys go nuts. I had one 

of these King James kooks who was so 

irate that he claimed the Septuagint was a 

forgery of the Early Church. In fact it was 

translated in Alexandria, Egypt over a hundred 

years before the birth of Christianity. 

That is how crazy they can become. 

There are also things called “Targums” 

but I won’t go into that now. Targums were 

simply Aramaic translations of the Old 

Testament. 

Jesus, we know for sure in some cases, 

spoke the Hebrew, Aramaic and probably 

the regional dialect of Galilee. This can 

be seen on the cross when He says, “Eloi, 

eloi, lama sabachthani.” (Mt. 15:34) That 

is Aramaic, not Hebrew. Remember, He is 

fully human, fully divine. When people are 

in a crisis they tend to revert to their mother 

tongue. When they recover black boxes 

from airplanes that go down, even though 

by international convention the language 

of aeronautics is English, if it is a French 

plane or a Chinese plane they go back to 

their mother tongue. When people are in 

trauma they tend to go back to their mother 

tongue; they go back to the language they 

can think in the best. Jesus was human as 

well as divine and He is speaking Aramaic. 

“Talitha kum!” (Mk. 5:41) It is close to Hebrew, 

but it is not Hebrew, it is Aramaic. 

“Little girl, get up!” 

So there is Dynamic Equivalence. The 

way I put it is “this far, no further.” But 

now something happens. Now the line is 

no longer “blue,” now it is almost black. 

We go to the next level, paraphrases. 

Using a Paraphrase 

In my own view, there are two conditions 

where as a temporary provision I 

would have the faith to allow for the restricted 

use of a paraphrase for a limited 

period of time. Specifically it must be a 

good paraphrase, but a children’s Bible. 

When someone has a kid who is 5 or 6 who 

can only read “See Jane run,” “See Spot,” 

and they want to get them reading “See Jesus; 

see Jesus and Peter” until that kid is 

old enough to read fluidly and fluently. I 

have got no problem telling kids bedtime 

stories about Jesus that paraphrase biblical 

narratives in very simple language as a 

temporary provision until the kid can read. 

I have no problem with it as long as it is 

well done – theologically accurate, parentally 

supervised, pastorally approved. I can 

go along with it under those circumstances. 

Again, it must be a good paraphrase and it 

must be for specific purpose for a limited 

period of time, a temporary provision to 

meet a specific need. 

The second is when the Wycliffe translators 

or one of the Bible societies go to 

a tribal culture who have no written language, 

no alphabet, and they can teach 

them this to try and get people saved. So 

they begin by paraphrasing. 

There was a true story of a tribe in Equatorial 

Africa sometime in the 1950’s or early 

60’s who did not know what snow was. 

They had never seen snow. They lived hundreds 

of miles from the nearest snow which 

was on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro and they 

had never seen it. They did not know what 

snow was so the missionaries rendered Isaiah 

1:18 “Your sins shall be white as snow” 

as “Your sins shall be white as coconuts.” 

That is what they did. In time these people 

got an alphabet, the missionaries showed 

them pictures of snow, but when trying to 

get people saved or teach them the Gospel, 

the basic truths, as a temporary provision I 

do not have a problem in principle within 

those restricted parameters of the missiological 

use of a paraphrase. But that is it. 

The problem is once we cross that line, 

now we still have paraphrases. And we begin 

to get into stuff that is not restricted, 


that is not good – now we have crossed the 

line. Again, if we are doing it with children 

or something like that OK, but what happens 

when we begin doing it for people 

who are not children? Now the line is completely 

“black.” Now we are in the “black 

zone,” What do I mean? The Message. 

Crossing the Line 

When someone goes into Dynamic 

Equivalence, something subtlety begins to 

happen. They are going more from translation 

to interpretation. But when someone 

goes from Dynamic Equivalence into paraphrases, 

now they are going further away 

from translation, mainly into the realm of 

interpretation. It is progressive, it is subtle, 

but that is how it goes. 

Nehemiah says this is the standard, 

but when people cannot read the standard 

someone has to explain the exact meaning. 

Well, that is the work of an expositor. 

“So we’ll go literalist so it will be readable 

then we’ll go into Dynamic Equivalence. 

But that’s not good, we should stick with 

literalist.” Yes, but we still have a problem 

with the Septuagint. It is not as easy as they 

make out. “We shouldn’t have paraphrases!” 

Don’t we want to be able to teach little 

Henry about Jesus? 

They do something else when they get 

to Dynamic Equivalence and it is also done 

with the literalist approach: they annotate. 

When they annotate a Bible it may not be 

completely bad what they are doing, but 

a Schofield Bible is annotated so one will 

read the Bible along the lines of dispensational 

presupposition. The reader will see 

it the same as a Dispensationalist. That is 

the Schofield Bible. The Catholic Jerusalem 

Bible annotates to explain away how 

Joseph could have known Mary and how 

she stayed a virgin. That is a pretty good 

one. How does someone consummate a 

marriage and the bride remains a virgin? I 

do not know, I am not a Catholic priest, but 

they seem to have it figured out. 

Some undertake to annotate, but the tendency 

is to read the text through the prism 

of the annotation. So now what they are 

doing is building commentary into the text. 

The first ones to do this were not Christians; 

the first ones to do this were rabbis 

– Talmudic commentary on the Haftorah 

but they would read it together and things 

like this. The first ones to do this stuff were 

the ancient world, but we are talking now 

about Evangelicals. Peter says they are going 

to aim at us. (2 Pe. 2:1) They are going 

to aim a plastic Bible at us. 

Proof-Texting 

Look at what Rick Warren is doing 

with The Message. Notice how in his Purpose 

Driven books it is always The Message 

he uses. He engages in a practice 

called “proof-texting”. Proof-texting is a 

form of bad exegesis that uses a form of 

hermeneutic (“hermeneutic” is “biblical 

interpretation”) invented by liberal theologians 

– “conscientiousization.” 

This is what guys like Onino and Sabrino 

said: “Well, the main need of the people 

in Latin America is for a political liberation 

against the hacienda class, so therefore we 

have to reinterpret the Bible to meet our 

need. The Exodus of the Jews was a national 

liberation so therefore the central event 

in Scripture is not the death, resurrection, 

and promised return of Christ, but it’s rather 

the Exodus.” Instead of doing what Habakkuk 

did, get up on the watchtower and 

look out, (Hab. 2:1) instead of observing a 

situation from the perspective of the Word 

of God, they look at the Word of God from 

the perspective of their situation. Instead of 

looking at a situation biblically they look 

at the Bible from the point of view of their 

situation and assign their own meaning. 

This begins with proof-texting. Someone 

comes with a presupposition about 

what they want to say and then they go try 

to find a verse that fits it. They do not begin 

by doing an exegesis of the text to determine 

this is what God says about the situation, 

instead they have their own preconceived 

idea and try to find a text that supports it, 

which usually means taking a text out of 

context and making it a pretext. Usually 

they have to take a text out of context and 

make it a pretext. “If you can’t find it in the 

original Greek and Hebrew, go to a translation. 

If you can’t find it in a translation, go 

to a paraphrase.” That is exactly what Rick 

Warren does. He will bounce from version 

to version but it is mainly The Message. 

The fact that he is not consistently using 

one translation or not appealing to the 

original meaning of the Greek and Hebrew, 

that should be the first warning sign. The 

first warning sign is he is not appealing to 

the original language; the second warning 

sign is he is bouncing from translation to 

translation; the third warning sign is he is 

going to a paraphrase. 

Maligning the Truth 

He was not the first one to do this, 

but something else happens. They malign 

– they malign the way, the truth. (2 Pe. 2:2) 

The first ones to do this, and they still exist, 

were the ancient Samaritans. They actually 

changed the text of the Torah to make Mt. 

Gerazim look like the holy mountain and 

they dropped all the prophets; they only 

kept the five books of Moses, which they 

doctored. This is the whole background of 

John 4, the argument between Jesus and 

the woman. They were the first ones to do 

it. These guys still exist. They still sacrifice 


sheep and everything, the same ones from 

the books of Nehemiah, Ezra, and John 4. 

They were the first ones to do this. 

The first ones in the modern world to do 

this, and these guys took the cake I thought 

– The New World Translation. It had a 

green cover and it was the translation of the 

Jehovah’s Witnesses. They would butcher 

the text. “The word was A God?” And 

they “worshiped?” No they “did obeisance 

to Him.” Now the Greek word is “proskuto” 

– they “worshiped” Him, not “obeisance.” 

What are they doing? Pseudologon? 

No, a plastois logon; a plastic Bible. 

Believe it or not, it gets even worse 

than this! What can be worse than a bad 

paraphrase like The Message? “Inclusivist 

translations.” They have to be inclusive 

– feminists, homosexuals, non-Christians. 

Romans 1, Leviticus, they say homosexuality 

is wrong so that has to come out. “Our 

Father and our Mother who art in heaven.” 

This is Inclusivism. 

With a pseudologos, with the Quran, 

we have a false word of God that actually 

tries to correct errors in our Bible according 

to their claims. They claim our Bibles 

are wrong. The Muslims say the 5 th Century 

Gnostic forgery of the Gospel of Matthew 

is the real gospel and the Quran is the 

final testament that sets out to correct the 

Old and New Testament. The Old Testament 

Messianic prophecies about Jesus are 

actually about Mohammed – this is what 

they do. But this is another book. The Book 

of Mormon is another book. What happens 

when we have something called “The Holy 

Bible.” It has the same name – The Holy 

Bible, it has the same number of books, it 

has the same order of books, and it calls 

itself The Holy Bible. What do we have 

now? We do not have a pseudologos, we 

have a plastois logos. Now The Holy Bible 

itself has become a false word of God. 

Peter says this will happen in the Last 

Days. The Bible itself becomes a false 

word of God. Same name – “Holy Bible” – 

sixty-six books with the same name, same 

order, but now it is inclusive. The Reader’s 

Digest published the first major edition of 

it. There are several of them now. 

Something Never Done 

Before 

But what if I told you it gets even 

worse? What if I told you something is 

happening now that is so unbelievable a 

Jehovah’s Witness would not have the audacity 

to do it. What if I told you something 

has happened now that is so outrageous the 

Inclusivists would not have the audacity to 

do it? What if I told you something was 

happening now that is so demonic nobody 

has ever done it before and the one who is 

doing it is the most respected born again 



Christian author in this country and most 

of the world? 

We will begin by looking at Acts 1:6… 

So when they had come together, they 

were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is 

it at this time You are restoring the 

kingdom to Israel?” 

Now these were Jews and most of those 

familiar with Moriel Ministries has heard 

the teaching “One Messiah, Two Comings” 

concerning the Son of Joseph/Son of David, 

HaMashiach ben Yozef/HaMashiach 

ben David. The Messiah had to restore the 

throne of David fulfilling the Messianic 

promises to David which Jesus did not do 

in His first coming literally or historically 

because that is His purpose in His Second 

Coming. So what the apostles are asking 

is, “We know You are the Suffering Servant 

‘ben Ephraim’, when are You going to 

restore the throne of David?” Forget about 

restoring the kingdom to the church, Jesus’ 

kingdom is not of this world (Jn.18:36), 

the Bible never teaches restoration of the 

kingdom to the church but only to Israel. 

There are Restorationists in England, crazy 

people, who believe in the restoration 

of the kingdom to the church. That is nowhere 

taught in the Bible. They are postmillennial 

kooks. The apostles ask Jesus… 

…is it at this time You are restoring the 

kingdom… 

So Jesus says, “When am I going to 

restore the kingdom to Israel? When am I 

going to re-establish the throne of David? 

When am I going to reign from Jerusalem? 

When am I going to reunite the kingdom 

and restore it?” In other words, when does 

the Millennium commence? Is it at this time 

I’m going to begin the Millennial Reign? 

He said to them, “It is not for you to 

know times or epochs which the Father 

has fixed by His own authority; 

but you will receive power when the 

Holy Spirit has come upon you; and 

you shall be My witnesses both in 

Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, 

and even to the remotest part 

of the earth.” 

“Let Me deal with that. It is not for 

you to know when the Father is going to 

send Me back. You do not know the day or 

hour of My coming. Oh, it is going to happen. 

I am going to come back and establish 

my Millennial Kingdom, re-establish 

the throne of David – it is going to happen 

but that is not your worry. Your worry is 

evangelism. The timing is not your worry 

when I restore the Kingdom.” 

Now look at Matthew 24:3… 

As He was sitting on the Mount of 

Olives, the disciples came to Him 

privately, saying, “Tell us, when will 

these things happen, and what will be 

the sign of Your coming, and of the 

end of the age?” 

Notice the question of Matthew 24:3 

is, “What is the sign of Your coming at the 

end of the age?” while the question in Acts 

1:6 is, “When are You going to restore the 

Kingdom to Israel?” They are related, but 

they are not one and the same. And when 

asked the question about His coming He 

says, first words out of His mouth… 

See to it that no one misleads you... 

And He gives a long list of signs to 

look out for. And in verse 42 after giving 

this very long list and giving the Parable 

of the Fig Tree to illustrate the need to be 

ready, He says… 

Therefore… 

…because of all of these signs to look 

for and because of the parable of the 

fig tree… 

… be on the alert, for you do not know 

which day your Lord is coming. 

“Be on the alert! Watch these signs!” 

Satan does not want us to be ready for the return 

of Christ. Jesus says, “Preach the Gospel 

of the Kingdom.” (Mt. 24:14) Use eschatology 

to see people saved. “No, we are 

going to restore the Kingdom” the kooks say. 

Rick Warren has his global P.E.A.C.E. 

plan. His “peace” plan is different than 

God’s. God’s peace plan is Isaiah 52… 

How lovely on the mountains Are the 

feet of him who brings good news… 

It is the gospel of “peace” in Ephesians 6… 

…and having shod YOUR FEET 

WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE 

GOSPEL OF PEACE; 

God’s “peace” plan is seeing people get 

saved and discipled. Evangelism is God’s 

peace plan. The Prince of Peace will return 

and the number of the Elect are saved. That 

is God’s peace plan. Rick Warren’s plan?

Assisting the Poor 

Caring for the Sick 

Educate 

No evangelism! ”We’re going to save the 

world.” This is post-millennialism; it is 

Kingdom-Now Theology; the church is 

going to restore the Kingdom. 

Jesus says three times that the Jews 

must be back in Jerusalem for Him to return. 

It says it in Zechariah, it says it in Luke 

21, it says it in Matthew 23 plus the book 

of Revelation. The very week in November 

when the Iranians and the Syrians assassinated 

Gemayel the Christian leader in Lebanon, 

the very week the Syrians knocked 

him off, Rick Warren went to Syria and 

sang the praises of Syria. After they had 

shot hundreds of missiles on Galilee – one 

of them nearly killing my son, one of them 

nearly killing the pastor of a church we 

support in Carmel, one of them destroying 

the home of a missionary who Moriel supports 

in that area – he is singing the praises 

of the Syrians who are aligned with Iran. 

He is taken to task for it and then he 

comes back and he is given an interview 

by Christianity Today magazine in December 

saying that those who criticized him 

are more interested in politics than they are 

the Gospel. When he was in Syria he did 

not preach the Gospel to the Muslims, all 

he talked about was politics himself! This 

is a hypocritical liar of the worst kind. A 

lying hypocrite! But he is more than a liar 

and a hypocrite. 

This is his teaching in his book and 

on his web site about the Last Days. This 

is Purpose Driven eschatology, this is the 

Willow Creek Second Coming of Christ: 

“When they asked Jesus about the time of 

His coming and the end of the age He said, 

‘It’s not for you to know the times and seasons 

the Father has fixed by His own authority, 

but you shall receive power when 

the Holy Spirit comes and be My witnesses.” 

Is that what it says? They did not ask 

Jesus about the sign of His coming in the 

end of the age, they asked Him about the 

restoration of the Kingdom to Israel! Highlight-and-delete, 

cut-and-paste! 

Imagine the New Testament on a computer 

screen. Take the mouse, go to Acts 

1:6, highlight it and delete it. Take it out 

of the Bible. Then go to Matthew 24, highlight 

that and do a cut-and-paste. Insert 

verse 3 of Matthew 24 into Acts 1 where 

verse 6 used to be. He gives a different 

answer to a different question! He literally 

shifts verses around! We are not just talking 

about taking something out of context, 

we are talking about moving verses around 

to change the context! We are talking 

about cut-and-paste exegesis. He actually 

did that, and there are God-knows-howmany 

thousands and tens of thousands of 

pastors pushing that agenda. 

A Jehovah’s Witness has never done 

that. The Roman Catholic church has never 

done that. He has actually shifted verses. 

He is telling people to believe one thing 

with an answer to a different question. 

This is unbelievable! It is a plastic Bible. 

It is no longer a bad translation even. He is 

just shifting verses from chapter to chapter, 

from book to book. He is teaching the opposite 

of what Jesus said to do. He teaches 

people to do the opposite of what Jesus 

said to do by inserting one verse from one 

book in the place of another. And they do 

not see it. 


Returning to 2 Peter 2:2… 

… because of them the way of the 

truth will be maligned… 

The Gospel will be maligned. And if anyone 

maligns the Gospel, it is Rick Warren. 

Warren’s advice is, “If you see people 

living immorally or taking drugs, don’t tell 

them to repent, just tell them to just get Jesus 

in their life and God will clean their life 

up.” Well, if people do not repent they do 

not get saved. He is confusing sanctification 

with justification. The way of truth is 

certainly maligned. 

…in their greed… 

A Plastic Bible 

Warren’s books have sold a lot of copies 

yet I do know this, they are doing something 

with the Bible that Peter says was going 

to happen in the Last Days – plastois 

logos. A plastic Bible. 

You know, it began with Formica®. 

They could make Formica® look like mahogany. 

They could make Formica® look 

like rosewood or pine, whatever you liked. 

They could make Formica® look like it. 

And it was good quality. Then they found 

cheaper ways to do it called Masonite®. But 

then through the miracles of polymer chemistry 

they found out they can do it with plastics. 

You can make plastics look like metal. 

You can even make plastics as strong as 

wood. You can use plastics as replacement 

for alloys in manufacturing components 

for airplanes and automobiles. It looks 

and feels like the real thing, but it is not. 

Today we are faced with the same 

thing. The Purpose Driven Life looks 

Christian and biblical, but it is not. It is better 

called “Purpose Driven Lie.” 

Just as mahogany is mahogany , Formica® 

is Formica® is Formica®, and Masonite® 

is Masonite®, so too Scripture is 

Scripture and paraphrases are not the genuine 

article and never can be. 

The Message, The Century Bible, and 

the new versions which rewrite Scripture as 

psychology appear to be the Word of God, 

they misrepresent themselves as being the 

Word of God, they even call themselves 

the Word of God, but they are not. Scripture 

is Scripture and plastic is plastic. 

But there were false prophets 

also among the people, 

even as there shall be false teachers 

among you, who privily shall bring in 

damnable heresies, even denying the 

Lord that bought them, 

and bring upon themselves

Oy, all these Jewish discoveries must be making baby Islam so crazy (and Moe had no

When Was the Bible Really Written? FOXNews.com 

By decoding the inscription on a 3,000-year-old piece of pottery, an Israeli professor has 

concluded that parts of the Bible were written hundreds of years earlier than suspected. 

The pottery shard was discovered at excavations at Khirbet Qeiyafa near the Elah 

Valley in Israel – about 18 miles west of Jerusalem. Carbon-dating places it in the 10th 

century BC, making the shard about 1,000 years older than the Dead Sea Scrolls. 

Professor Gershon Galil of the University of Haifa (http://bible.haifa.ac.il/english/index-eng.htm) 

deciphered the ancient writing, basing his interpretation on the use of verbs 

and content particular to the Hebrew language. It turned out to be “a social statement, relating 

to slaves, widows and orphans,” Galil explained in a statement from the University. 

The inscription is the earliest example of Hebrew writing found, which stands in opposition 

to the dating of the composition of the Bible in current research; prior to this discovery, 

it was not believed that the Bible or parts of it could have been written this long ago. 

According to Israeli news paper Haaretz (www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1141247. 

html), current theory holds that the Bible could not have been written before the 6th century 

B.C.E., because Hebrew writing did not exist until then. 

English translation of the deciphered text:

impossible to get into. Once in the door 

we were able to preach the Word, live the 

Word, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing 

the impact of the Word. I do not know the 

exact day when things began to change 

from “good” to “bad,” when what ultimately 

began as a legitimate move of God 

foundered and ended in such a sad state, 

but in retrospect I strongly suspect it was 

when we put a label on our activities. Not 

content with merely being “evangelists” 

or preachers of God’s Word or just plain 

“Christians,” we aspired to describe ourselves 

uniquely so as to be set apart and 

different from the other activities of the 

church. Yes, I am quite sure it all began 

to go downhill when we started to call it a 

“music” ministry. 

There is nothing wrong with music in 

and of itself. But anything, and I do mean 

anything, can be misused, misapplied, and 

just plain mistaken. In fact, I would offer the 

axiom that anything intended for good will 

ultimately be corrupted by man because, by 

our very nature, we are fallen. Music is as 

good an example as any, but there are plenty 

of them within the church. And it seems 

to me that one of the ways you can tell that 

something is being overemphasized or taken 

towards an unbiblical extreme is when 

A Bad Thing 

it is assigned a name which sounds spiritually 

warm and fuzzy but, in reality, is not 

biblically supported. My Bible software is 

unable to produce any results when searching 

for “music ministry” in Scripture. 

People will tell me, “There are ‘music 

ministries’ in the Bible – look at David.” 

Yes, if you mean organizing praise and service 

in the course of operating the Temple, 

I get that. But what has that got to do with 

a 7-piece rock band playing their Christian 

arrangements for the unsaved? Or even the 

same playing exclusively for Christian audiences 

at $25 a pop? Or making a music 

video for “Christian TV?” I can tell you 

from experience that often when such endeavors 

first take root it is out of the desire 

to preach the Gospel and to share Jesus. 

Biblically it is really “evangelism” and 

music is just the tool, not the “ministry.” 

But do you know what happens when you 

start calling it a “music” ministry? The emphasis 

shifts from the Gospel and eventually 

the focus is solely fixed on music. You 

become more concerned about the appeal 

of the music than the quality of the lyrics. 

You become painfully aware of how you 

compare with other “music” ministries. In 

fact, you eventually strive to mirror worldly 

music groups so that you will appear to 

be as good and appealing as they are because, 

after all, they are the gold standard. 

For those who are according 

to the flesh set their minds 

on the things of the flesh, but 

those who are according to the 

Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 

Romans 8:5 

Jacob has a really great sermon which 

touches on this topic titled, “Christ the 

Foundation” which firmly explains in detail 

the issue at work here. Basically it occurs 

whenever someone takes A truth and 

elevates it to become THE truth over and 

above everything else. It may be A truth 

in its right and proper setting, but in the

end it becomes a lie because it is given the 

wrong, heightened priority. Yes, a truth can 

be over-realized to the point that it actually 

becomes a lie. In this case, the music 

began a tool of evangelism and in compliance 

with the Word. But when the music 

itself became the focus, it took the center 

stage away from the Word. The Gospel 

began to become a secondary consideration 

to the music. What may have begun 

in the Spirit ended as a work of the flesh. 

Yes, I know that not everyone calling 

their self a “music ministry” has followed 

this exact, same tragic path, but I have sure 

witnessed a lot of them. If you want to 

know to what degree a group of Christians 

equipped with musical instruments is committed 

to the music more than their Bible, 

assign values to how much time is spent 

rehearsing versus prayer, fellowship, and 

Bible study. Consider how much effort is 

spent on the “business” activities of a music 

group versus those of an actual church 

ministry. Weigh the time spent focusing on 

honing a public image versus being conformed 

to the image of the One they began 

their journey to represent. Consider how 

much of their conversation is consumed 

with how they compare themselves to other 

musicians or musical activities, Christian 

or otherwise. 

Now this is not intended as a cautionary 

tale that all music endeavors are ultimately 

corrupted and therefore evil. I began 

with this example because it is most 

familiar to me personally and has a high 

likelihood that others will relate to it because 

they have seen the same thing happen 

all too often. My point is not to throw 

all the worship teams under the bus, so to 

speak, but to provide a basis for understanding 

a greater trend within the church 

which I believe is even more alarming. It 

seems to me that a number of “ministries” 

have arisen only very recently in church 

history. The age of specialization within 

our current culture seems to have spawned 

a corresponding culture of specialization 

within the church at large. I do not believe 

that even as recent as 40 years ago 

you would find someone who introduced 

themselves as part of a “music” ministry. 

And likewise I do not think you could find 

anyone introducing themselves as part of 

a “discernment” ministry. And yet today I 

am not sure we can even count the number 

of persons and organizations labeling their 

self as a “discernment ministry.” 

Beloved, do not believe every 

spirit, but test the spirits to 

see whether they are from God, 

because many false prophets 

have gone out into the world. 

(1 John 4:1)

Again, just as I am not saying music is 

bad nor that discernment is bad, I am not 

saying anyone claiming to have a ministry 

as such is automatically to be dismissed. 

But I AM saying that everything has to pass 

the test of God’s Word and that does not 

mean because someone attaches the word 

“ministry” to their activity that they are automatically 

qualified as true and biblical. 

One of the reasons I am writing about 

this is because for the past few years an increasing 

part of my time and attention has 

been robbed (yes, I deliberately chose the 

term “robbed”) by so-called discernment 

ministries in particular. And the chief issue 

so many of them seem preoccupied with is 

how they compare to OTHER discernment 

ministries. Some of them spend so much 

time arguing with, attacking, and otherwise 

engaging fellow discernment ministries 

that I question not just their value but their 

motives. Just as musicians can get sucked 

into a downward spiral where they judge 

everything and everyone according to the 

quality of their own music production values, 

so it seems there are more than a few 

discernment ministries whose focus seems 

to solely rest on proving that they and they 

alone are the only ones with wisdom and 

discernment. They often spend more time 

on their own standing than the actual issue 

at odds with the Word of God. 

They may have started out with the right 

intention of sounding the alarm where the 

Word of God applies to situations, events, 

or even personalities, but as their activities 

have moved from the Spirit to the flesh 

they seem to be preoccupied with their 

own reputation and standing. They seem to 

be more concerned that they are revered as 

being the top wizard of their craft. In other 

words, no longer obsessed with the noble 

spiritual task of how things align with the 

Word of God they have become mired in the 

fleshly pursuit of making their name more 

respected and listened to than anyone else. 

Can we agree that no matter what the 

contribution to the kingdom and body 

of Christ, that it first and foremost must 

be rooted in the Great Commission (Mt. 

28:16-18) and Christ’s instructions in Acts 

1:6-8? I am beginning to think that in the 

modern age of specialization that the notion 

that we are only responsible for our 

own little compartments is yet another 

deception for excusing us from preaching 

and living the Gospel as we have been 

commanded. “My ministry is music” does 

not exempt you from sharing the Gospel or 

any of the basic requirements of following 

Christ. Having one gift does not exempt 

you from participating in all the activities 

of the rest of the gifts. You may be extraordinarily 

gifted as a teacher, but that does 

not exempt you from normal giving, sharing 

the Gospel, or any of the other activities 

associated with the other gifts. 

What is probably the saddest effect 

of all of this is that there truly are some 

people who are exceptional and biblical in 

their use of things like music and discernment 

and such, but they are increasingly 

lost in a sea of dubious if not outright false 

efforts. This is another axiom it seems: the 

biblical are most often far outnumbered by 

the unbiblical. Satan loves to bury the one, 

true prophet of God by producing a thousand 

false ones. Today the one, true person 

of discernment is being drowned out by a 

thousand nominal if not false ones. 

The irony at the end of this situation is 

we actually need discernment to determine 

who is legitimately discerning! Not all 

those prophesying in God’s name today are 

false prophets, but we are living in a time 

like Jeremiah’s where the true are few and 

the false are overwhelmingly plentiful. Not 

all those employing music in the church 

are seeking to merely advance their own 

careers, but we are living in a time when 

they are no longer the normal majority. Not 

all those engaging in discernment activities 

are doing so only for their self, but we 

are living in a time when it is hard to find 

the occasional true and obedient watchman 

among the myriad false ones who have recently 

risen to drown them out. 

I think it is important to reiterate something 

Jacob has stated many times, that 

although many people call Moriel a “discernment” 

ministry, that is absolutely not 

the activity that defines us. We engage in 

areas attributed to spiritual discernment 

because it is the Christ-given duty of every 

shepherd to warn and educate the flock. It 

is something in the basic job description 

of every pastor, teacher, and evangelist. 

Moriel speaks up whenever necessary, but 

the day-to-day activities of its missions, 

orphanages, and outreach activities consume 

us most. We would be truly happy 

if we could ignore these discernment dustups 

and concentrate on the larger things. 

But when the flock is threatened we do not 

call in a pest control specialist to shoot the 

wolf – we are commanded to deal with it 

our self. That does not make us a discernment 

“ministry”, it merely means that as 

the need arises we are discerning. 

The moral of the story is this: Do not 

allow even “good” things to get in the way 

of carrying out the basic requirements of 

the Kingdom.

The most scary thing that comes out of 

Todd Bentley’s Dec. 18th, 2009 service, however, 

is that Jessa Bentley, Todd’s new wife who 

is evidently learning quickly, apparently has the 

ability to call dead people into her dreams? 

A big hat-tip to blogger P.J. Miller, who 

spotted this first and http://pjmiller.wordpress. 

com/2010/01/13/todds-new-wife-communicates-with-oral-roberts/, 

might even be more 

flummoxed than I am at the Bentleys’ effrontery. 

At 101:37 of the Dec. 18th service, as saved on 

Todd Bentley’s website, Jessa Bentley comes 

up to share for a moment. It would seem that 

she might have a prophetic gifting, as Jessa 

emphasized in her remarks that ”Lakeland was 

just an introduction” of what God is hoping to 

do. (Cue ominious music again.) 

Jessa began by saying: 

“So, a couple of nights ago I had a dream 

where Oral Roberts was speaking to Todd–I 

didn’t understand what they were saying but 

I remember they were talking and then he 

stopped and he looked over to me and he ran 

over to me and he [Oral Roberts] stopped and 

he put his hands over my eyes and he said what 

do you see? And so I looked and I didn’t see 

anything at first then I saw this elephant racing 

across my eye and Oral Roberts, he said, he put 

his hand over my eyes and said what do you 

see and…I said I didn’t see anything at first and 

then all of a sudden I saw this elephant racing 

across my eyes and it was dancing, it was going 

crazy, it was just, it had this big smile, but 

it was just going crazy and I said, “It’s a wild 

elephant, I see a wild elephant. 

And then I said ‘What’s with the elephant 

and he said, “Exactly, what is it with the elephant?” 

And I looked again and in that vision 

what was highlighted was the trunk of the elephant 

and I said “The elephant nose (knows)

A little necromancy for Mr. and Mrs. Bentley 

and he said “yes” And I said it’s discernment 

and he said “exactly.” And then he says,” Do 

you see the lion?” and I closed my eyes again 

and then I saw the lion and the lion was just a 

golden lion and I woke up. 

And when I woke up…” 

She continues to interpret her dream. 

At the 104 minute mark, she starts to emulate 

the prophetess Stacey Campbell, with stammering 

and will shaking of her head. “Lakeland 

was just an introduction. Just a table of contents 

for what is to come.” “It’s gonna be wild, wild, 

it’s gonna be much greater than it was before. 

Much greater…” 

Todd takes the mike. “You know, when God 

spoke to her in that dream,” he said. “That was 

the night that Oral Roberts passed (away). And 

Jessa said to God ‘So many of our friends got to 

go out to California in the last few months [to 

be prayed for by Roberts]….’” (Bentley parenthetically 

explains that Roberts was praying for 

people to receive his healing gifts and re-enact 

the healing revival of the 1950’s. As I noted in 

an earlier post, however, while Roberts never 

renounced his healing ministry, he came to see 

it as well-intentioned and perhaps flawed. Healing 

came to be part of all the work he chose to 

do–not an emphasis–as shown by Oral Roberts 

University trying to have a medical school as 

part of their work. A more nuanced description, 

however, would interfere with Bentley psyching 

up his audience.) 

So, Bentley continues, his wife was mentioning 

to God that she and Todd hadn’t had 

an opportunity to be prayed for by Roberts. 

“And Jessa said, ‘Lord you called my husband, 

you called Todd to be a healing evangelist, a 

revivalist. How come we never got to go out 

to California to receive this impartation?’ And 

I didn’t know that she was crying out ‘Lord I 

really want this and now he’s gone [died] And 

she had a dream. And Oral Roberts showed up 

in the dream and laid hands on her. And what 

she didn’t tell you is that she felt it go through 

her body and she got it!” 

So what Todd is explaining is that his wife 

received an “it” in a dream from someone who 

she thought was Oral Roberts who had just died! 

This is necromancy. The Bible tells believers 

not to seek to contact the dead. The only 

time that the Bible reports someone being forcibly 

brought back from the dead–the prophet 

Samuel and the Witch of Endor, horrible things 

happened as a result. Why is Jessa comfortable 

receiving a blessing from a dead man when the 

Bible says not to seek one? 

Why is Todd Bentley passing the pulpit 

over to someone who seems to have no problem 

with an experience that the Bible forbids? 

This might be an explanation why Shonnah 

was kicked to the curb. Perhaps Bentley’s first 

wife was uncomfortable doing shady things 

in the pulpit. Can we wonder if wife number 

two, aside from being younger and prettier, will 

wade in with whatever is needed, even extatic 

prophect or seeing the dead–to put her husband 

over the top? 

The new age is very popular amongst the 

young? Do we want young Christians or new 

converts to be influenced to dabble with seeking 

contact from the dead, because Jessa Bentley 

had this dream? 

Was any of this compared to what the Bible 

teaches? Bentley has, reportedly, spent months 

in the Bible. You kave to know that he knows the 

Bible verses warning against this…but he continues 

blithely on, not even saying “I know that 

the Bible cautions against this, but…” while the 

lambs nibble the poisonous plants. 

Even if Jessa is wise (and I certainly doubt 

she is) is tempting others to seek after an iffy 

experience wise. And where is Rick Joyner, the 

wise mentoring hand in all this? 

I mean, I would love to see my friends and 

heroes from heaven. But I think of them! On the 

night that Oral Roberts is finally with his wife, 

dead son, and Jesus, why call him down from 

heaven to talk to Todd Bentley and pray for Jessa 

Bentley? It would be a mean thing to do to Oral, 

wouldn’t it? (*Imagine Oral visiting with his 

wife in heaven. His pager goes off. Oral: “Jessa 

Bentley wants me to pray for her again?” ) 

I think that Patricia King, Todd Bentley’s 

old friend, might have a very interesting point 

of view on all this. A few years ago, she released 

a teaching on CD, the “Great Cloud of 

Witnesses”–if memory serves. (It’s at home and 

not at hand as I write.) 

On the CD, King talks briefly in passing, 

about the time that she believes that she met the 

spirit of Aimee Semple McPherson on a plane. 

In subsequent months, there was a bit of a controversy, 

as concerned Christians were worried 

that King was dabbling in necromancy. 

On reflection, she then wrote on her webiste 

that whatever she might have seen, it was 

unwise for her–as it was a stumbling block to 

others–to have shared this. So, she pulled the 

CD and you can no longer get it from her store 

or download the teaching from her website. 

I wonder what Patricia King would say to 

her old friend and his new wife about this. 

I don’t want to know what Aimee or Oral 

for that matter would say, in a dream or otherwise, 

thanks. Neither should the Bentleys, for

It was the last Shabbat of the Festival 

of Festivals, which takes place 

every year and brings together Christians, 

Jews and Moslems in a joint celebration in 

the streets of Haifa. On this day, we were 

very busy as people dropped by the shop, 

or stopped at our stall in the street where 

we displayed much literature. There was a 

lot of interest, and Pastor Najeeb went out 

to speak to Jews and Arabs who stopped 

to look at the books in both Hebrew and 

Arabic. 

At some point, three Jewish families 

entered the shop to drink coffee, 

sat down and began to ask what kind 

of a shop it was. They also wanted to know 

why; we sold Tenachs (Old Testaments), 

and New Testaments, but not the Quran.. 

Najeeb answered them that we cannot 

have Satan in the shop. They were shocked 

and asked what he meant. So he went on to 

explain to them that the Quran is against 

Jews and Christians and against Yeshua, 

and we cannot sell such a book, though we 

have nothing against Moslems as people. 

He continued that we do not hate Moslems, 

because we are commanded to love even 

our enemies, but we cannot tolerate the 

spirit of Islam. They were very surprised 

to hear this form an Arab, and asked if I 

would say these things to A Moslem. “Yes 

“I replied, “but not because I am a hero but 

because God’s Spirit lives in me, and we 

must tell them these things to point them 

to the true way of Salvation. ”They were 

interested to hear about the Holy Spirit and 

God’s word, and wanted to know how I as 

an Arab could believe in the Tenach. I told 

them that it was true that I was an Arab 

and a Gentile, but that when I learned-that 

Yeshua was the Jewish God and Messiah, 

I believed in the whole Word of God, both 

Old and New Testaments. I then gave them 

my testimony, and as they listened, I felt 

that I was speaking to a whole Church, and 

not just to mine people. They were all very 

moved, and said that it touched their hearts. 

It was the first time they had heard these 

things and they were very impressed, and 

accepted New Testaments with the Psalms. 

And shook hands very warmly as they left. 

I felt that they had really understood the 

message, and Who Jesus was. 

After they left, two Arab girls came 

in, one a Druze from Yarka, and 

the other a nominal Christian from Cfar 

Yassif. They only wanted to buy coffee and 

go, but I suggested they sit and have coffee 

in the shop, which they did, and then they 

told me that they worked in Haifa, and that 

is why they were living here. The Druze 

girl worked in a bank, and the Christian 

Arab was a lawyer. They had come along to 

see the Festival of Festivals, and commented 

how lovely the shop was, and wanted 

to know why we had so many books/ and 

what the purpose of the shop was. This 

question always opens many doors, and I 

told them that we opened the shop in order 

to preach the Gospel to many people. 

I talked about sin and what sin does, and 

how it is destroying this world and takes 

us away from God. Their faces began to 

change! Then I told them that God has 

provided a way to escape from sin through 

the Blood of Jesus who was crucified for 

us. .When I said this, the Druze girl told 

me that they had already wanted to go into 

several coffee shops, but had passed them 

all by, and now she understand why, because 

she knew that God had guided them 

into this shop to hear these things. Before 

they left I offered to pray for them, and 

they agreed. They were both very touched 

by my prayer for them, and I gave them my 

visiting card. I also prayed with the Jewish 

group before they left. 

Our request to you dear friends is 

to continue to pray for these dear 

ones who come into our shop. 

Apart from our activities in the 

shop and congregation, there are 

many trips to Bethlehem to minister there. 

We went up as a congregation to Bethlehem 

to celebrate Christmas there with our 

fellow believers from Bethlehem. We were 

joined by two believers from Nahariya, 

and again as a mixed Jewish-Arab group, 

we cause astonishment to many who live 

in Bethlehem.. They wonder at the love 

we have for one another. One young man, 

Magdi, who works in a restaurant, has invited 

our two Jewish friends to come and 

meet his wife and children and eat with 

them. He is so pleased always to see them. 

And this in spite of the fact that he is a 

Moslem, his house was destroyed by Israeli 

shelling (after terrorists took over his 

home and fired at Gilo from there) and his 

brother was shot dead by an Israeli sniper. 

He says, “I cannot hate. I have worked in 

Israel and know many Israelis and got on 

very well with them, and because of the 

Intifada, I cannot go now, but I am happy 

to meet Israelis”. He could teach a lesson 

to many Bethlehem Christians who are 

so against Israel, and many in the West.. 

Dr Tim Sigler from Moody Bible College 

gave an excellent Christmas message 

which was ably translated into Arabic by 

Pastor Niehad Salman from the Bethlehem 

Immanuel Church. ABDM, the young man 

whose brother was hospitalized beside 

Ruth Nessim’s dying husband, Albert, also 

came to meet us, and this time he brought 

his wife and two of his children. This was 

the first time she ventured out to meet Israelis! 

We were also happy to be able to 

help these people for whom there is little 

work, and who are grossly underpaid for 

whatever work they find. Being brought up 

in Islam, they have never heard a Gospel 

of caring love in all their lives until God in 

His sovereign grace brought us all together 

in an Israeli hospital. We can only marvel 

at God’s ways! 

We ask you also to pray about the 

Building we mentioned three 

months ago. It looks as if the Lord is really 

opening the doors, as the Landlord has not 

accepted offers to buy from other people, 

but has offered to rent it to us with an option 

to buy in three years! We are looking 

to Him for the means. 

Pray for us, Brethren, for a great door 

and effectual is opened unto us, and there 

are many adversaries. (1 Corinthians 16:9)

The Mufti of Jerusalem: Architect of the Holocaust

The original blueprints for the Auschwitz death camp went on display in late January after being discovered in November 

2008 [1]. They were found by chance behind a wall in a Berlin apartment during renovation work, yet the exact location of their discovery is 

being kept secret. No one will say whose apartment it was. 

There are numerous bits of evidence, however, that point to a possible location where Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of 

Jerusalem, lived during World War II. And in the course of investigating this, I have found that the Mufti was involved in and may even 

have created the Final Solution for European Jews – and yet his central participation in the Holocaust has been covered up and forgotten. 

The Mufti, whom his nephew Yasser Arafat called “our hero,” is famous for his fanatical Jew-hatred. During World War II, the Mufti 

lived in Berlin, where he met Hitler and traveled in top Nazi circles (he even 

stayed in Hitler’s bunker toward the end of the war). Among his close friends was 

Adolf Eichmann, who is commonly thought to be the architect of the Holocaust. 

Journalist Maurice Pearlman, author of the 1947 book The Mufti of Jerusalem, 

said that the Mufti advised Eichmann on the best ways to persecute Jews. 

Hitler gave the Mufti a radio station, which al-Husseini used to preach Nazism 

and genocide in Arabic. In one of his broadcasts, the Mufti exhorted Arabs: 

According to the Muslim religion, the defense of your life is a duty which can only 

be fulfilled by annihilating the Jews. This is your best opportunity to get rid of this 

dirty race, which has usurped your rights and brought misfortune and destruction 

on your countries. Kill the Jews, burn their property, destroy their stores, annihilate 

these base supporters of British imperialism. Your sole hope of salvation lies 

in annihilating the Jews before they annihilate you. 

Al-Husseini practiced what he preached. During the Nuremberg Trials in July 

1946, Eichmann’s assistant, Dieter Wisliczeny, testified that Mufti was a central 

figure in the planning of the genocide of the Jews: 

The Grand Mufti has repeatedly suggested to the Nazi authorities – including Hitler, von Ribbentrop and Himmler – the extermination of 

European Jewry. … The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and 

adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan… He was one of Eichmann’s best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate 

the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chambers of Auschwitz. 

Wisliczeny also testified that al-Husseini asked Heinrich Himmler to send one of Eichmann’s assistants to Jerusalem once the war was 

over, to aid the Mufti in “solving the Jewish question in the Middle East.” 

And according to the Arab Higher Committee: 

In virtually identical letters, the Mufti, in the summer of 1944, approached Germany, Roumania, Bulgaria, and Hungary to speed the extermination 

of the Jews by sending them to Poland where the Nazi death chambers were located. 

The Mufti successfully demanded that 400,000 Jews who were about to be deported to the Holy Land instead be sent to their deaths. That’s 

not merely a collaborator, that’s a partner with great influence and power. 

Yet after the war the Mufti was not prosecuted. He got off scot-free, and lived 

comfortably until 1974. Why? And why the cover-up now about in whose apartment 

were the documents found? Germany does not hide information like this after World 

War II; why are they hiding this now? The only plausible reason to keep this location 

secret would be because it would incriminate the Mufti. There are no other reasons. 

German authorities should come clean. 

The denial about the key role that this Muslim leader played in the Holocaust 

must end. The only difference between Hitler and the Mufti is that Hitler was defeated 

and punished. The slaughtering Mufti went on to spawn Yasser Arafat, inspire Saddam 

Hussein, and work to destroy the Jewish homeland and its people. 

There is no statute of limitations on genocide. I indict the Mufti and the Muslim 

world. They were equal partners in mass death [2]. Not only does the ummah not own 

what they did (let alone, G-d forbid, apologize, as the Germans have done repeatedly), 

but they are still pursuing the annihilation of the Jews (not to mention all non-believers). Just three weeks ago in Iran, according to the Middle 

East Media Research Institute, Khamenei’s representative in the Iranian Martyr Foundation said this: 

We have manufactured missiles that allow us, when necessary, to replace Israel in its entirety with a big holocaust. It’s time to tell the truth 

about the Muslim role in the Holocaust, and their desire to start a new one.

“The Theology of Disillusionment” 

In the aftermath of the Hasmonean 

Period in the century before the birth of 

Jesus, Israel quickly degenerated from the 

spiritual revival of the Maccabees and the 

national resurgence that followed. This 

caused the Jews to be sucked into a bad 

deal that had tremendous religious and political 

ramifications. Because they looked 

to man instead of to God, Judah’s leaders 

entered into a treaty, trusting people who 

should never have been trusted. Part of 

their motive was economic and strategic in 

terms of their national security. There were 

also elements of cultural leanings towards 

Rome as there had been towards Greece 

before the Maccabees. 

At the time of the Roman triumvirate, 

the Roman general Pompey arrived from 

Rome offering Israel the protection of the 

Roman Republic and economic advantage. 

The spiritual corruption of the Levitical 

priesthood, and what emerged as the Sanhedrin, 

predisposed the national leadership to 

enter into a concordat not ordained by God. 

At one point the High Priest, John 

Huricanus, had himself proclaimed king, 

violating the scriptural prohibition that a 

king must be a descendant of David from 

the tribe of Judah while the High Priest had 

to be a descendant of Aaron from the tribe 

of Levi. The Levitical priesthood became 

a political monarchy in a union of what in 

modern terms we would call “church and 

state,” which God’s Word prohibited even 

in the Old Testament. As Rome’s sphere 

of power grew and new potential threats 

bloomed, Israel’s leaders, both religious 

and political, with popular backing of 

much of the public, pressed for the protection 

of Rome. Plainly, Israel had forgotten 

the lessons of Isaiah 30-31 during the reign 

of Hezekiah when God castigated those 

pressing Judah to seek protection against 

Assyria from Egypt. 

No sooner had Israel agreed to become 

a protectorate than Pompey entered the 

holy city of Jerusalem and marched into the 

Temple, trespassing into the Holy of Holies. 

When anyone other than the High 

Priest on the Day of Atonement (“Yom 

Kippur”) entered the Holy of Holies, it is a 

type of the Antichrist (Daniel 9:27; Daniel 

11:31; Matthew 24:15; Mark 13:14; Luke 

21:20; 2 Thessalonians 2:4). 

Israel had feared another Antiochus 

Epiphanes (from whom the Maccabees led 

their liberation) defiling God’s Temple, so 

they looked to Rome for protection. Instead, 

to the Jews’ shock and dismay, Rome 

defiled the temple. They had not only been 

betrayed by Rome, but by their religious 

and national leaders. Ultimately, however, 

in actual fact the majority of people 

betrayed themselves. The very thing they 

tried to prevent with their own devices 

they foolishly caused to happen. 

Not only was the Temple defiled by 

Pompey, but instead of being a protectorate 

they found themselves a Roman colony 

governed by mad emperors from abroad 

and by Roman surrogates locally. This period 

saw the rise of two major types of the 

Antichrist: one was Caesar Augustus (General 

Octavius at the Battle of Actium), and 

the other Herod the Great. While other emperors 

had been deified posthumously by 

the Roman senate, Caesar Augustus, who 

was emperor when Christ was born, was 

proclaimed to be a god in his lifetime. And 

with his census, which is recorded in the nativity 

narrative of Luke’s Gospel, numbers 

were assigned to people in order to maintain 

economic control of most of the known 

world. Herod the Great was a Nabatean of 

Idumean ethnicity who was culturally Roman 

but who had embraced Judaism for 

political purposes. This was much like 

many politicians today are “born again” 

at election time, or as all unionist politicians 

are good Protestants at election time 

in Northern Ireland, or as all Irish or Italian 

politicians are good Catholics when they 

are running for office in Boston or Chicago. 

Herod personifies the beast of Daniel 

that reappears in Revelation 12, trying to 

kill the baby coming out of the woman. 

When the baby is raptured in the divine 

rescue he kills the rest of her offspring 

(Rev. 12:1-5, 17). 

Pompey, Caesar Augustus, and Herod 

were one Antichrist after another, much as 

their will be many Antichrists before the 

ultimate Antichrist just prior to Jesus’ second 

coming. There will be another Pompey 

who will enter the Holy of Holies in 

the character of Antiochus IV. There will 

be another Caesar Augustus who will number 

people to maintain full financial and 

economic control (Rev. 13). And as Revelation 

12 tells us, there will be another 

Herod. These are complex typologies that 

will be explored in greater depth in our 

forthcoming book on the Antichrist. However, 

the message and pattern is clear. 


DOUBLE CROSS – Continued 

By Jesus’ day there was a temple 

dedicated to Caesar Augustus at Caesarea 

Philippi on the ruins of the ancient temple 

of Pan. This is where declared Himself 

the Rock in Matthew 16. This was on the 

lower ridge of Mt. Hermon, towering over 

Galilee below. In Jerusalem the Fortress 

Antonio overshadowed the Temple Mount 

with its eagles—symbols of Pagan Rome’s 

dominion over the house of God. This 

eclipsed the heart and soul of the people of 

God and their identity as a nation in a covenant 

relationship with the One True God. 

It was quite a mess, but in the final analysis 

it was largely a mess of their own making. 

It is of little surprise that on February 

1, 2010 Prime Minister Berlusconni of 

Italy arrived in Jerusalem. Breaking with 

the left-wing socialists who dominate the 

European Union, Mr. Berlusconni, despite 

being immersed in a series of financial and 

political scandals, remains an outspoken 

friend of the USA, a critic of Islamic culture 

and civilization (which he has compared 

to Communism as a deficient entity 

that must be defeated and that will fall in 

the squalor of its own depravity) and has 

consistently been a vocal supporter of Israel. 

Upon arrival in Jerusalem Mr. Berlusconni 

announced his plans to push for Israel 

membership into the European Union. 

Meanwhile, the Vatican in Rome remains 

consistent in posturing itself to play a role 

in brokering a Middle East peace based on 

some kind of internationalization of Jerusalem 

in a climate where the pope seeks 

to regain the cloak he inherited from the 

Pagan emperors of Rome as Pontiff. 

The emperors bore the religious title 

of Pontifex Maximus (the Great Bridge 

Builder between and among faiths) as head 

of Rome’s Pantheon, again in a marriage of 

church and state. A political figure wants to 

draw Israel into a revived Roman Empire 

while a religious one wants to be the bridge 

between Judaism, Christendom, and Islam. 

To those who understand Scripture and understand 

history in light of Scripture, the 

prophetic implications of these events are 

evident. At the very least they demonstrate 

a trend that is plainly of eschatological 

consequence. The prophet Daniel tells us 

that the Antichrist (akin to Pompey) will 

deceive Israel into making a treaty, break 

it, and betray them, leaving them not merely 

disillusioned, but devastated. 

America and Israel have labored for 

decades to shift a normally pro-Arab Europe 

towards one more favorable to Israel 

at a time when grass root reactions to 

growing Islamic radicalism are mounting 

in Britain and Holland, and incipiently in 

Italy, Germany, and France. Meanwhile, 

the Israeli left of the Labor Party coalition 

are dominated by socialists such as Simon 

Peres and other members of Socialist International 

who are natural bedfellows to 

the socialist eurocracy of Brussels and the 

so-called quartet mediary Tony Blair who 

is a member of the Bilderbergers and who 

converted to Roman Catholicism without 

gravitating into the fanciful speculations of 

conspiracy theorists. 

It is obvious that the stage is being set 

for something to happen that will not be 

simply politically transforming, but theologically 

stupendous. When and how this 

will happen we can only speculate, and 

again it is imperative that we avoid the 

wild conjectures of lunatic fringe conspiracy 

theorists, including those who combine 

conspiracy theories with their particular interpretations 

of End Times prophecy. What 

is also imperative, however, is that we recognize 

that these events are indeed lining 

up with end-times prophecy. As always the 

early trends are brought, but at some point 

they become specific and defined. Betrayal 

is once again on the horizon. As in the past, 

it arrives from Rome. As in the past, it is 

self-inflicted. As in the past, it fulfills the 

prophecies of Daniel. And as in the past, 

those people whose hearts and minds are 

truly the Lord’s, and these alone, will understand 

(Daniel 11:33; Daniel 12:3). 

To spiritually discern the politics of 

betrayal, one must understand the theology 

of betrayal. Whenever a nation, no matter 

how strong its biblical heritage, stops looking 

to the living God and looks to man for 

salvation, it is doomed, and it brings the 

doom upon itself. This is foremost true of 

God’s own covenant people Israel, but this 

principle co-equally applies to the Christian 

church; as the Apostle Paul wrote us, 

“If God did not spare the natural branches, 

neither will He spare you” (Romans 11:21). 

Israel’s closest thing to a true friend has 

been the United States. And this is without 

doubt one reason God’s judgment has not 

already fallen on America (Genesis 12:3). 

Yet the theology of politics and betrayal 

abound no less in the USA than they do in 

Israel and Europe. 

Naïve Christians heralded Ronald 

Reagan as a pro-life brother in Christ. In a 

colossal act of betrayal Reagan appointed 

pro-abortion judge Sandra Day O’Connor 

to the Supreme Court. It was O’Connor, a 

Reagan Republican, who wrote both the 

Supreme Court’s decision on outlawing 

the Texas anti-sodomy law (which opened 

the door for states to move towards samesex 

marriage with co-equal adoption rights 

for homosexuals and lesbians to be able 

to raise up a child to be a homosexual or 

lesbian) and the decision ordering the Ten 

Commandments out of the judicial building 

in Alabama. It was Dwight Eisenhower’s 

Republican Supreme Court of Earl Warren 

who ordered God out of the classroom. It 

was Richard Nixon’s Republican Supreme 

Court of Warren Burger who ordered God 

out of the maternity ward with Roe v. 

Wade. All the while, naïve and undiscerning 

Christians have swallowed the lie that 

the Republican Party is more “Christian” 

than the Democrat Party, when in fact the 

record proves that it was Republicans who 

ordered God out of the classroom, the maternity 

ward, and the court, demonstrating 

that a Republican politician is everything 

that a Democrat politician is plus a liar on 

top of it. These are the simple and undeniable 

facts of history. 

It was George W. Bush who first celebrated 

Ramadan at the White House. The 

Epistle of 1 John that denies the Father and 

Son relationship is by scriptural definition 

“Antichrist.” Yet George W. Bush placed a 

copy of the Koran, which states that God 

has no Son, in the White House in order to 

honor Islam after September 11th as he continued 

the express visa program for Saudi 

Arabians who outlaw the New Testament 

from even being brought into their country. 

One cannot imagine Winston Churchill 

putting a copy of Mein Kampf in 10 Downing 

Street after Hilter’s Luftwaffe leveled 

Coventry and half of Liverpool and London, 

nor can one imagine even an FDR 

issuing visas to Japanese Kamikaze pilots 

after Pearl Harbor. Yet many Evangelical 

clergymen have lined up in election after 

election to endorse one Republican candidate 

after another. 

As we speak, Senator Scott Brown, 

who sensationally won Ted Kennedy’s 

Senate seat in Massachusetts, announced 

that while he opposed federal funding for 

abortions, he believes in the right to abort 

a baby in circumstances where there is no 

clinical warrant, as has the Republican 

candidate for Senate in Illinois. 

While Jesus was born into a politicallycharged 

environment, He would not enter 

the political arena or reduce His message 

to something that could be identified with a 

political party. The New Testament restricts 

its comments on political activity to understanding 

the prophetic significance of such 

events and to pray for those in authority lest 

they be influenced by things more sinister. 

On the left, liberal clergymen such as Al 

Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Jeremiah Wright 

(and some would say Rick Warren), endorse 

Democratic candidates the same as the late 

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson endorsed 

Republicans. This replays the state of Israel 

in the early 1st Century in terms of corruption 

of the clergy who misled the people. 

Jerry Falwell accepted millions of dollars 

in contributions from Korean cult leader 

Sun Yung Moon, who claimed to be the 

return of Christ in the flesh. Pat Robertson, 


who has given multiple false prophecies in 

God’s name, promoted the Toronto Experience, 

and signed Evangelicals and Catholics 

Together, also began a broadcasting 

ministry of contributions of Christians to 

preach the Gospel. He and his son then 

sold it to Rupert Murdoch and pocketed the 

money to the tune of nearly $100 million. 

Jeremiah Wright, the mentor of Barrack 

Obama preached, “God damn America,” 

delivered racist slurs against white people 

from the pulpit, and invited Louis Farrakhan, 

a racist Muslim who claims to ride 

in flying saucers, to preach at his church, 

which Barrack Obama supported for years 

with $500 a week in tax-deductible donations. 

It was interesting that Obama, on a 

visit to San Francisco, denounced hunters 

in Pennsylvania for clinging to their constitutional 

right to bear arms, and to their 

faith, when Obama’s own declared faith is 

in a church where they preach “God damn” 

the same country of which he wished to 

be President. 

The hypocrisy of politicians is eclipsed 

only by the hypocrisy of corrupt clergy, the 

same as we read in the Passion Narratives in 

the Gospels. Raising millions from corporations 

and foundations to help disenfranchised 

urban blacks with his Rainbow Coalition, 

Baptist minister Jesse Jackson paid 

a salubrious salary to the mother of a child 

he adulterously fathered out of wedlock to 

keep her quiet. In the 1940s, before the era 

of civil rights and Martin Luther King, Jr., 

when injustices against blacks were easily 

ten times worse than anything that exists 

today (particularly in the South), fewer 

than one in ten black children were born 

out of wedlock. Today seven out of ten are 

born out of wedlock. What chance do such 

poor children have with no father figure? 

And what chance does black America have 

when their leader is one of such absent fathers 

who, moreover, takes money contributed 

to help poor blacks in order to buy the 

silence of the mother of his “love-child”? 

We are again back to the debauchery of 

the religious system of Second Temple Period 

Judaism. Call it the “Sanhedrin” or the 

“World Council of Churches,” call them the 

“religious right” and the “religious left,” or 

call them “Pharisees” and “Saduccees.” Today, 

just as in biblical times, they amount 

to six of one and a half dozen of the other. 

Things have not changed much either in 

Israel or anywhere in the Judeo-Christian 

world. The legacy of hypocrisy endures, 

perpetuated by the lowest form of political 

slime and beatified by the lowest forms of 

theocratic scum. That is what it was like in 

the time of Jesus, and that is precisely what 

it is like today. How long Christ will tarry 

we cannot say, and how long His judgment 

will tarry we cannot say, but they will 

not tarry forever, of this we may be sure. 

Disillusionment and betrayal are panhistorical. 

Barrack Obama debated Hillary 

Clinton and promised his supporters 

“change” from the things had been under 

the Bushes and Clintons. Among his first 

acts after being elected to the presidency 

was to appoint a Clinton as Secretary of 

State and to reappoint Bush’s Secretary 

of Defense after running against the very 

foreign and defense policies advocated 

by both Clinton and Bush. The only thing 

Barrack Obama changed was his socks. 

Obama was the lawyer for ACORN 

that pushed more than any other organization 

for sub-prime lending as a “civil 

right” for minorities. And his Chief of 

Staff, Rahm Emanuel, earned $16 million 

in the Fanny-Mae/Freddie Mac mortgage 

fiasco that triggered the present economic 

crisis. Obama himself received more campaign 

contributions from Fanny and Freddie 

than any other member of the Senate 

except for Chris Dodd, who chaired the 

committee that exercises oversight over 

these institutions. It was his fellow Democrat, 

homosexual Barney Frank, who had a 

homosexual lover on the board of these institutions, 

who used his position as Banking 

Committee chairman to block the caveats 

being issued of the coming collapse. 

Sub-prime lending was the brainchild of 

Jimmy Carter and the darling of the Clintons 

who expanded it. Yet Obama blames 

the previous administration for the mess he 

inherited, when in fact it was a mess he and 

the members of his administration such as 

Geithner and Emanuel largely created and 

profited from. It is little wonder that upon 

coming to office he frantically wrote welfare 

checks for banks allowing them to increase 

their profits wildly. They were able 

to borrow money at zero percent interest 

and lend it at rates of 5%-8%, while paying 

handsome bonuses to kingpins of the 

banking establishment. This is the same 

banking establishment from where he recruited 

most of his key staff and cabinet 

members responsible for economic policy 

and financial regulation. His left-wing supporters 

were left stunned. 

Obama repeatedly promised that all 

proposed legislation would be posted on 

the White House website five days before 

any vote by Congress. Instead, he delivered 

a 1,300 page intricate and confusing 

tripling of the national debt to members of 

the House and Senate at 11 PM the night before 

the vote, demanding it be passed to be 

sure that unemployment would remain under 

8%. Unemployment is now above 10% 

and in real terms closer to 18%. It was Reagan 

who tripled the national deficit, then it 

was George W. Bush who tripled it again. 

Now Obama has tripled that, threatening 


the viability of the dollar and the future 

economic sovereignty of the United States. 

Many in the business community who 

supported him, such as Warren Buffet, feel 

betrayed. And one independent economist 

after another has come to the realization 

that Obama is an economic madman bent 

on pistol suicide. The insolvency of the 

government, and a potential run on the dollar, 

plus a downgrade in the rating of federal 

ventures have become terrifying prospects 

under the presidency of someone who is 

plainly inept, inexperienced, unqualified, 

and utterly disposed to tell lie after lie. 

He promised his supporters that he would 

appoint no lobbyists to positions in his 

administration, yet he has appointed six, 

including Attorney General Eric Holder. 

Editorialists are openly saying that 

Obama has already become a lame duck 

whose popularity has declined faster than 

any other President in modern history. Barring 

unforeseen events, he is likely to be the 

next Jimmy Carter, a one-term loser fired 

from office by the electorate as an incompetent, 

and also to be the next George W. 

Bush who will leave office without a legacy. 

What is important about this for Christians 

is not the policies or the politics themselves, 

but the manner in which Obama 

reached a Messianic stature, even being 

called a political “messiah” by the biased 

left-wing media. Many Evangelicals overlooked 

his position on partial-birth abortion 

and his advocacy of homosexuality and 

lesbianism to the point of holding gay and 

lesbian pride picnics on the White House 

lawn. From Christians in so-called “Emergent” 

and “Purpose Driven” churches who 

placed temporal concerns regarding the environment 

and opinions about social justice 

on the front burner, and moral issues such 

as abortion and homosexuality on the back, 

to Afro-American Pentecostals and Baptists, 

many Evangelicals were swept up in 

Obama fever, looking for a political messiah 

to save America and to save the planet. 

Just as Bush and Reagan misled the 

religious right, leaving professing Evangelicals 

disillusioned, those Christians and 

others who looked to Obama for change are 

likewise left disillusioned, confused, and 

arriving at the daunting realization that they 

have been lied to and betrayed. Once again, 

however, it is easy to blame politicians 

who are deceivers by nature and who know 

how to manipulate with their eloquence 

and subtlety the cleverly manufactured 

lies they fabricate. In the end, however, the 

truth of the matter is that the delusion they 

suffer is because they deluded themselves. 

Israel is self-deluded, always looking 

for any messiah but the true one, from Bar 

Kochba to Sabbatai Tsvi to Jacob Frank to 

Menachem Schneerson. They will cheer 



any messiah except the genuine Messiah 

Yeshuah. So, too, the post-Christian, neo- 

Pagan Protestant world will celebrate the 

ascendancy of any political messiah to rescue 

them from their own devices now that 

they have rejected the true Messiah who 

can rescue them from their sins. 

This ancient disillusionment that always 

arises from the advent of false messiahs 

following the rejection of the true one is 

but a cartoon before the movie. The worst is 

yet to come. For years we have warned that 

if people cannot see through obvious false 

prophets like Pat Robertson, Todd Bentley, 

or Benny Hinn, there is no way they will see 

through the false prophet of Revelation 13. 

We must realize that the frenzy generated 

by Adolph Hitler and Ayatollah Komeini 

was something that the peoples of 

Germany and Iran could not see until it 

was too late. This is the same spirit that 

propelled Israel to welcome Pompey, and 

it is the same spirit that propelled America 

to follow Obama. It always ends in disillusionment 

and betrayal. For the spirit behind 

such phenomena is the spirit of Antichrist. 

If Germany, a cultural capital of 

continental Europe at the time, could not 

rightly discern what Hitler was until it was 

too late and he brought them to destruction, 

or Italy, the nation of DaVinci, Michaelangelo, 

and Dante could not discern what 

Mussolini was until it was too late, and if 

America, the last remaining super power, 

could not discern what Obama is, how will 

they not follow the Beast to come? Satan 

always appears as Lucifer, an angel of 

light. So does everyone controlled by the 

spirit of Antichrist, be it a pope, a Pompey, 

or an Obama. How easily Israel was 

deceived. How easily also is the Christian 

church deceived? Let us, by the grace of 

God, not be deceived. 

With eyes towards Heaven, let our 

hearts and minds remain fixed on the real 

Christ so that we will not be connived by 

a false one. Let us not look to Rick Warren’s 

counterfeit P.E.A.C.E. plan, but let us 

rather look to the Prince of Peace. Let us 

not be captivated by the spirit of Antichrist 

operating in both the religious and political 

realm, but let us be filled with the Holy Spirit 

of Jesus who prepares us for His coming.

are expected to be reduced over the next five 

years in a country where nearly a million 

South Africans are on lifelong ARV’s with 

the expectation of the number tripling (covering 

80% of those who need it) in the next 

decade if the government keeps to it’s implementation 

plan (“Huge cuts in aid ahead for 

HIV/AIDS treatment,” by Kerry Cullinam, 

www.health-e.org.za). 

Globally, some 33.4 million people have 

HIV. Since the early 1980s almost 60 million 

people have been infected, and 25 million 

people have died of HIV-related causes. Sub- 

Saharan Africa accounts for 67% of people infected 

with HIV and 91% of all new infections 

in children, according to United Nations data 

(“Millions at risk of AIDS focus fades, says 

expert,” by Kate Kelland, Reuters Africa). 

As we commit our children to the Lord, 

we are mindful that He is our source of life. 

It is easy to become complacent and take for 

granted systems that are in place, but are tenuous 

to say the least. May the Lord bless you 

and establish your paths in faithfulness.

earing Fruit 

As you can see our grape vine has 

produced some lovely fruit for us to enjoy 

this year. Not being a vine dresser I suppose 

it could be better. The peach tree next to it 

has overhung the vine and so some grapes 

are small and immature. Some of them are 

a little deceased and maybe I should have 

trimmed them early on. Whatever the condition, 

the fruit that comes from the vine is 

dependent on Gods input with sun and rain 

and my input as the cultivator. 

The word of God speaks of many kinds 

of fruit: 

• Matthew 7:7 speaks of good and evil fruit 

• Romans 7v4-5 speaks of bringing fruit until 

God and fruit unto death. 

• Ephesians 5v9 speaks of the fruit of the 

Spirit 

• James 3v18 talks of fruit of righteousness, 

and there are many other examples of 

fruit. 

One of the things you need concerning 

fruit is patience. When you are born again 

and the Spirit of God begins to hone you into 

the character of Yeshua. Things can change 

dramatically, but most things don’t happen 

overnight. James in Ch5v7 speaks of how 

the farmer is patient with his crop, waiting 

for the rains to come. He says this is an example 

to us. Well the question is, how are 

we cultivating His fruit in our lives? Are we 

pruning the deceased areas? Are trimming 

back the dead wood? God wants to delight 

in us and cause a harvest of fruit unto Him, 

the fruit of righteousness and the fruit of 

the Spirit. God has done His work with the 

shining of His son and the watering of His 

Spirit. Can we now endure, as James puts it 

and be patient for the Harvest? 

Loskop Dam Revisited 

This month (February) Ebyown will 

once again be going to Loskop Dam in 

M’pumalanga. Last years visit was a real 

treat for the kids. They had all kinds of adventures 

visiting a nature reserve, boat trips, 

evening Braai’s and of course the swimming 

pools. 

The resort company at Loskop has once 

again welcomed us with fantastic discounted 

rates and also the provision of a buffet 

breakfast and lunch time meal. On top of 

this we need to pay for transport and our 

Braai packs for the evening, so the whole 

trip will cost R5000 or about $750.

Aletheia Community Church 

After a Holiday break, worship began 

again on the 24th of January. Dave started 

another look at Gods attributes with a bible 

study on the Hebrew word Chesed. Zodhiates 

describes Chesed as one of the most 

important OT words as it describes Gods 

loving kindness and mercy, etc. In the 

NASB it is also translated 14 times as Loyalty, 

in Hosea 6:6 Judah and Ephraim were 

taken to task by God because of their fickle 

loyalty. 

Then we have been looking at Gods attribute 

as a guide to his people. We see He 

is a guide to the redeemed, to the weak and 

to the humble. 

We pray that in 2010 we would really 

understand His Chesed and that God in His 

loving kindness and mercy would guide our 

paths. 

It was a huge disappointment when Zak 

had to leave. Dave still believes that there 

is someone who needs to take over as leading 

elder due to his other commitments. So 

please pray with us over this issue. If you

Ebyown Children’s Village 

The children would like to thank all 

their friends for a wonderful Christmas and 

great a New Year. 

Singquabila is coming along great. Her 

new feeding tube means she has put on a 

kilo a week since arriving. 

Prudence had a few health issues, but 

after tests things are back on track again. 

We had two birthdays over Christmas 

with Siphiwe and Jo. They went out to see a 

movie and received some new clothes. They 

are both now 13 years old and becoming 

lovely young men. 

Please pray for our staff. We have had to 

make three of our guys redundant due to the 

recession. Our financial gifts are going down 

significantly on top of that a R17,500 electric 

bill which came as a bit of a shock. Seems 

they under estimated us for quite a while. 

We have several meetings with the au- 


thorities soon regarding registration. As you 

may know our relationship with them has 

not been the best and we have met opposition 

from the start on various issues. 

But God is good, He is sovereign and so 

in peace we hand it all to Him. 

We need Volunteers

On February the 24 th Marijke and Lina 

will be flying home after a one year stay as 

working missionaries here at Ebyown. 

First of all we want to thank them for 

all they have done for the Lord and the kids 

here in South Africa. We will miss them 

very much. We therefore are in need to replace 

them as soon as possible. So we wish 

to invite anyone who believes the Lord is 

leading them to Africa with these following 

skills, a nurse, a teacher and a cook. If this is 

you, we can provide food, a place to live and 

a stimulating environment. So please contact

A Harvest of Veggies 

Last year the children at Ebyown under 

the watchful eye of my mother began to 

build there own veggie garden. For several 

days they dug in the ground clearing out a 

large area of grass and walled it off to keep 

the animals out. During that time Prudence 

began to create seedlings in which to plant 

once the ground was ready. It was a long and 

tiring job. But the kids persisted everyday. 

So far we have grown lots of spinach 

and are about to harvest out potatoes. But on 

the table in the picture, we have also grown 

plenty of Marrows. 

With a little rain and time they have 

grown. Much like the seed of a new born 

Christian it needs time to grow and the patience 

for it to reach its true potential. It reminds 

me of how God has the biggest patience 

in the universe that he waits for us 

to reach our true potential with his guidance 

and grace. We all were seeds at one point, 

how have we all grown? Chris 

Rat-at-tat-tat 

As you can see they grow the mice big at 

Ebyown. Actually what you can see is probably 

a Cane Rat that we think was taken out 

by our dogs. Cane Rates are nocturnal and 

this one was probably found by our dogs in 

the wee hours. 

Normally Cane Rats inhabit marshy areas 

on the east coast, but a friend of ours just 

80kms away says they have them near her. 

Don’t worry Marijke washed her hands.

We want to say thank you to our supporters 

who made the trip to Loskop Dam this 

year a success. We want to thank also Tini 

Vorster hospital and Forever resorts for the 

huge discounts they made and for the food 

they provided. (The breakfasts are legendary) 

This years trip was challenging as we 

took along Singquabila who has special food 

needs as she is tube fed. Not being able to 

walk either was also a challange. However 

she did enjoy her time in the water and 

splashed about like all the other kids. 

On this trip we went to the Dam for a 

boat ride and the number of animals we saw 

was great. We saw Fish eagles, Rooibok, Waterbok, 

Kudu, Zebra, Giraffe, Rhino and even 

a meter long monitor Lizard, it was fantastic. 

We was allocated a guy called Thomas as 

a guide and he took the kids on a bush walk 

pointing out all flora and fauna in the region. 

lots of samples were gathered for projects by 

the kids. 

In the evening we had a braai and an open 

fire and Marijke led us with a few choruses. 

It was a fantastic time and we are hoping 

to return there this time next year God willing.

Australian Report– March 2010 

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus 

Christ 

As we commence a new year (my 11 th ) 

I try to think of some nice line with which 

to open the report, but yet again I have 

failed miserably. 

I must first congratulate Carrie (our 

typesetter) on the last two issues of the 

Quarterly. What an incredible talent she 

has. Praise the Lord. In recognizing her talent 

one also knows there is a great deal of 

hard effort working and reworking the articles, 

especially when you are at the beck 

and call of all the contributors. Some are 

worse than others, like that person, “Downunder.” 

Anyway Carrie, on behalf of all 

the readers we do appreciate your dedication 

and patience. 

After a couple of quieter months here 

in Australia we are about to launch into tour 

mode for 2010 with Dave Royle here in 

May, Jacob in June/July and Calvin Smith 

in August/September. So do watch the flyers 

in the newsletter and, of course, the Web 

site: http://www.moriel.org, for the details 

of their meetings. Dave is going to the 

“Land of the Long White Cloud” for the first 

time ever, so he is really looking forward 

to seeing some of that magnificent country. 

Here in Australia we may (well, 90% 

sure) have a special first time visitor to our 

shores–so again watch the magazine for 

details as they unfold. 

Thank you to all those that so promptly returned 

their Quarterly re-registration forms, 

and thank you too for the prayerful and financial 

support. It is greatly appreciated. 

We received some special contributions 

to the Haiti Appeal and to our people in Israel. 

By the time you receive this all the funds 

will have been distributed. So to all those 

who gave so generously both in monetary 

gifts and prayers we say a big “Thank you.” 

With all the mail that comes in over the 

holidays I received some really sad news 

that we have lost some very special people 

from the Moriel family. While we rejoice 

that they have gone home to be with the 

Lord, I will miss them so. Our dear Jill 

from New South Wales lost her wonderful 

Don on Boxing Day. Quite a number of 

people who attended our 2009 conference 

at Belgrave Heights will remember this 

special couple. And another Jill (now from 

Toowoomba) lost her beloved during the 

year. Also, two of my beautiful ladies from 

Camperdown (Victoria), Ev and Peggy 

also left us. These two ladies were among 

the first to join Moriel when I started out, 

and I will so miss them–that is just the selfish 

part of me. 

I have enclosed a photo of Peggy and 

Ev (weren’t they beautiful)? 

Please remember their families in your 

prayers as they come to terms with their loss.

I recall when I lost my darling Ross 

in 2006. I received so many lovely letters 

and cards, but one that really stood out was 

from a dear sister who had lost her husband 

quite a number of years earlier. She 

told me that as I opened my grieving heart 

to the Lord He would fill my life in ways 

that I never thought possible. And she was 

absolutely right. Praise Him. 

But we, too, have a part to play, and that 

is to pray for the widows and widowers. 

This is a very special ministry, praying for 

them and comforting them. Time does ease 

the heartache but it never really leaves you. 

Along with these letters I received quite 

a number from folks who are not experiencing 

good health (maybe it is a sign we 

are getting older) and are seeking prayerful 

support. So I am going to re-introduce 

the “Intercessory Prayer Group.” You will 

find the form on the inside back page of the 

wrapper. Names, etc., are always kept confidential, 

and the list will be updated each 

month, or sooner if required. 

So have a pray on it and see if maybe 

that is something God is calling you too. 

Speaking of ministering to the elderly 

and the sick, we took the children from 

our fellowship to our local nursing home 

for them to do their Nativity story and to 

sing the beautiful old traditional Christmas 

hymns. We had the most wonderful afternoon, 

and the kiddies were exceptional 

(with only a few fluffs with their lines). The 

look on the ladies and gents who attended 

was so special it just melted my heart. 

The hit of the afternoon was a rousing 

rendition of “Father Abraham” along with 

all the actions–it truly was the “Wow” factor. 

I must confess that it is one of my favorites–just 

a big kid at heart. Aunty Pam 

worked hard for the weeks before handmaking 

costumes and so on. 

We made afternoon tea for all the patients, 

but, as you can appreciate, quite a 

number have diabetes. One of the men, 

Kevin, was absolutely having a feast-anda-half, 

and he was so careful not to get 

caught by the staff. He kept employing 

someone new to get him some treats. Kevin 

hoodwinked our Pastor John more than 

anyone else. I was so worried this poor 

man would have sugar frenzy, but praise 

the Lord, he was okay. When we go back 

again this year we will be on guard against 

the sugar bandits. I guess a lovely fresh 

scone with Jam and whipped cream is just 

too great a temptation. 

We will go back again this year, and 

we have booked the Baby Animal Farm 

to host the Christmas Story. Of course, 

we need not wait for Christmas to go visit 

these dear people who are essentially in 

God’s Waiting Room. 

Thank you too for all those who have 

been praying for Jacob. David will fill you 

in via the American report as to how his 

heath is going. 

Another huge acknowledgment must 

be to Marijke from New Zealand, and Lina 

from Sydney, who have just completed 

their year-long stay at Ebyown. What a 

precious role they have played in helping 

with all the needs of the children. So girls, 

from all of us who cannot go to South Africa 

and do what you have done for the past 

year, we thank you from the bottom of our 

hearts. May the Lord bless you mightily.

As in the lyrics of that worldly jingle, 

“here we go, here go, here we goooo,” another 

year under the belt so to speak. 2009 

was certainly a bumpy ride, and at the same 

time as the previous year, we were devastated 

by the dreadful bushfires and loss of life 

here in Victoria. In the ensuing months we 

have seen such dreadful things all over the 

world. Are we just becoming conditioned? 

As I told you in the last “Rambling 

Rose,” we were gutting the office and having 

a whole new look, which left no room 

for “clutter.” Well we did gut the office and 

we had all the new desks fitted. Yet regardless 

of all the effort my son put into making 

the surfaces all “sloping” to alleviate 

the hoarding of material (by yours truly) I 

have not quite mastered the “Clutter free” 

aspect. But I do live in hope!!!!!!! Maybe I 

should extend the “due date” to post Easter! 

Did you have a lovely Christmas or, 

as a dear sister of mine says, the 25 th of 

December? I had lunch with Shirley at the 

nursing home, and on Boxing Day my son, 

daughter-in-law, and grandchildren came 

for lunch. I had quite a bit of the food partially 

prepared, but when they arrived they 

took over. For the first time in the last 40- 

odd years I did not cook Christmas dinner. 

I had the most wonderful day as I felt that I 

passed on the “mantle” so to speak. Now I 

am quite content in just being the Matriarch. 

While the kids were preparing lunch 

we had a lovely visit from Pastor John 

Maisano and his wife, with their daughters 

Mila and Sissy (visiting from Adelaide). 

Each year the family goes down to Lakes 

Entrance (Coast) for a few days. While their 

visit was brief it was so lovely to see them. 

Largely due to the fantastic job that 

Carrie did in setting up the last two newsletters, 

we have been inundated with letters, 

orders and queries. As our Aussie readers 

know, we sent out both the September and 

December newsletters in one mailing (pre 

Christmas) along with a mini catalogue of 

the latest resource material. So our readers 

have been treated to a wonderful amount of 

reading material over the holidays. But as 

you can imagine, it was a mammoth task to 

get it out—and a very expensive one with 

postal and printing costs. Having said that, 

we serve a wonderfully gracious God who 

meets our financial needs, so we were able 

to get all the accounts paid. Praise Him. 

In early January my sister Bev came to 

visit for a week or so. It was wonderful to 

have her almost to myself (except for the 

mail out). Ever since I married, and subsequently 

as she did, we have never lived in the 

same state. So while we talk all the time on 

the phone we don’t get a lot of time together. 

Bev has suffered with Parkinson’s disease 

for 19 years, but she is marvelous and 

won’t let it interfere with her life any more 

than she has to. But I have noticed a wee 

anomaly: although I am the eldest in the 

family, she is the bossy one and tells me 

what to do. I always thought there should 

have been some “perks” to being the eldest 

but it seems not. The fact is that she manages 

her “bossiness” brilliantly–minimum 

amount of fuss; no great histrionics–but 

somehow my two brothers and I just seem to 

follow on. I think I will make that my project 

for this year–to study exactly how she 

manages it! Watch out 2011, is all I can say. 

I digress here a little, just to illustrate 

how effective her “bossing” is. Last year 

her two boys in their 20’s, my son in his 

40’s and my other niece and nephew in between, 

were having a very rare get together 

at my son’s home here in Melbourne. My 

sister, via phone from Queensland, told me 

to make sure I took some photos. Well I did 

try and try. But do you think any of them 

would cooperate? No, not one of them. So 

I got on the mobile and reported this disobedience 

to my sister. She asked to speak 

to the five of them in turn. Whatever she 

said was very brief, but within moments 

they were all lined up smiling, having their 

photo taken. I could not help but think, 

“Now that was ‘class’.” 

As I said earlier, I always thought there 

should be perks/rewards for being the eldest. 

You know (and I address this to the 

eldest in your family) how you are the eldest 

and therefore have to set an example 

and be responsible for your siblings and 

so on, which I think we have been shortchanged. 

Although being the eldest sibling, 

I am also the shortest, I am the only one 

with straight hair, and I have the least in 

the looks and brains department. I recall 

saying to my Dad one day, “How come as 

the eldest I didn’t get height, looks, etc?” 

He smiled and said to me, “Oh love, we 

were just practicing when we had you!” 

My dear Mum Kate would get very cross 

when Dad said this, as she felt he was casting 

aspersions upon her moral character. 

She would be heard to say, “Ray, we were 

married in September 1946 and Margaret 

was born in November 1947 (now I have 

given that away haven’t I?). Dear old Ray 

(Dad) would just have a silly grin on his 

face as he delighted in getting Mum to bite, 

so to speak. Like undoing her apron when 

she had her hands covered in flour or such. 

You remember those times? 

Such a plethora of wonderful memories, 

but I am starting down one of my favorite 

old “paths” of yesteryear, so I had 

best bring this bit to a close. 

Thank you to all those who have thus 

far sent in the bread tags and wool. By the 

time you receive this newsletter we should 

be okay for the tags and the rolls, but we 

can always use the wool. The more colorful 

the better. 

Our Pam is heading off to England 

in late March to visit her brother John for 

some three weeks. John has not been of the 

best health so she is off to have time with 

him. He is such a lovely man, so please uphold 

Pam as she shares the Lord with him. 

Oh, guess what I have now. Yes, a mobility 

scooter! It is wonderful! Some dear 

friends were away down the coast over the 

holidays and saw it for sale. To cut a long 

story short, I was able to get it at a very 

good price. It is great for getting around 

here at Trafalgar (as we are so flat). I find 

it so much easier to use that than getting in 

and out of the car. 

In late November some dear friends of 

mine were driving in a storm when a tree 

fell on top of their car. Thankfully they 

were okay, but the car was a write-off. So 

as I haven’t been able to drive very much I 

gave them my car to use. But my dear son 

did not want me to be car-less (so to speak), 

so he gave me his pride and joy–his big V8 

Ute. Brilliant blue, and boy did it go. Anyway, 

when I went to pick it up I put my 

“disability sticker” on the dashboard and 

my walking stick in the passenger seat, and 

as I turned around to say goodbye my son 

was standing there with a look of absolute 

horror on his face. His remarks were, “Oh 

mother, p-l-e-a-s-e not a walking stick! 

If you should get pulled up by the police 

please hide it under the seat. I could not 

bear the shame!” Well, I ask you! 

Anyway, Delsa did most of the driving 

and she loved the power of the V8 after

& You’re Out ! 

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, 

I do not want you to be unaware. (1 

Corinthians 12:1) 

But we do not want you to be uninformed, 

brethren, about those who are 

asleep, so that you will not grieve as do 

the rest who have no hope. For if we 

believe that Jesus died and rose again, 

even so God will bring with Him those 

who have fallen asleep in Jesus… For 

the Lord Himself will descend from 

heaven with a shout, with the voice of 

the archangel and with the trumpet of 

God, and the dead in Christ will rise 

first. Then we who are alive and remain 

will be caught up together with them in 

the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, 

and so we shall always be with the Lord. 

(1 Thessalonians 4:13-14, 16-17) 

For I do not want you to be unaware, 

brethren, that our fathers were all under 

the cloud and all passed through 

the sea; and all were baptized into Moses 

in the cloud and in the sea; (1 Corinthians 

10:1-2) 

The words underlined in each of the 

above passages all come from the same 

Greek word “agnoeo” which many translations 

render as “to be ignorant”. The word 

is used to not just advise that we should not 

lack information on the highlighted issues, 

but should go out of our way to avoid being 

mistaken or in error where such things 

are concerned. In other words, Paul specifically 

admonishes Christians, that they are 

to understand, pay attention to, and not be 

biblically ignorant where three issues are 

concerned: spiritual gifts, the Rapture, and 

Israel. Why is it that at the center of present-day 

Christianity we find the most commonplace 

error and ignorance on at least 

one if not all three of these topics? 

There are literally thousands of books, 

sermons, and entire websites devoted to 

each of these three individual issues so it 

is impossible to deal with each of them in 

total depth here, but at least consider the 

global effect at large. On each of these topics 

I have heard the case made that they do 

not belong to the core doctrines of Christianity 

and therefore differences over them 

should not be allowed to divide the Body 

of Christ. But the issue I am raising is not 

that there might be “differences” but total 

“ignorance”. Can you see that claiming 

they are not important and yet at the same 

time not possessing a clear, biblical understanding 

of them is exactly what Paul is 

warning against? 

One of the chief reasons that Christians 

flock together in stadium-sized numbers to 

embrace the outrageous and non-biblical 

public display of so-called manifestations 

of the Spirit is they are ignorant of spiritual 

gifts to begin with. As Jacob Prasch of 

Moriel Ministries has repeatedly pointed 

out, one of the biblically identified fruits of 

the Spirit is “egkrateia” – “self-control”. 

(It is but one of nine attributes listed in 

Gal. 5:22-23.) And yet the biblically ignorant 

actually claim, “It must be the Spirit; I 

have no control over it!” 

But at the same time there is such a division 

over one specific gift of the Spirit – 

tongues, that there is a parade of ignorance 

on display even among the more sedated, 

average churchgoer. On one extreme end 

of the spectrum are those who ignore the 

biblical guidelines and employ it willy-nilly 

without regard for Scriptural restraint; 

at the other end are those who insist the 

gifts ceased to operate with the passing 

of the original Apostles and the 1st Century 

church and therefore no longer exist. 

Charismaniacs rush to one side of the stage 

while Cessasionists surge to the other. And 

meanwhile the unsaved looking in on us 

from the outside are not completely unreasonable 

to conclude, based on our public 

displays in this area, that this Christian 

stuff is nonsense. 

Biblical ignorance of spiritual gifts not 

only undermines the basic work of discipleship 

and sanctification in each believer’s life 

but erodes public testimony to the unsaved. 

The second issue Paul warns about is 

the Rapture. Yes, “Rapture” is actually derived 

from the Latin and is not a word literally 

found in Scripture. The Greek word is 

“harpazo” and clearly means to be plucked 

or snatched away. (I do sometimes wonder 

if we would be better served to discard 

“Rapture” and employ “Harpazo” instead, 

but the term is hopelessly etched in the discussion. 

I will give it a shot.) 

Practically a whole industry has arisen 

over the question of the Harpazo. Not 

content with describing a position as “Pre- 

Trib”, “Mid-Trib”, “Post-Trib”, or even 

“Pre-Wrath”, there are many variations. 

Now if you have arrived at a particular 

position as the result of prayerful study of 

God’s Word, let’s talk! We can even have a 

scholarly debate! But can you see the problem 

where the only reason an individual 

Christian or even an entire organization 

defends a particular position is because 

they learned it from a Christian work of 

fiction? Or because some book on prophecy 

tells them so? 

I am not saying every book, fiction or 

otherwise, is wrong no matter what, but 

simply that there are two very large groups 

of Christians where this topic is concerned: 

those whose beliefs come from other people’s 

opinions rather than having them personally 

verified in God’s Word, and those 

who embrace the false doctrine that where 

the topic of the Harpazo is concerned, ignorance 

is truly bliss. Obtaining one’s theology 

from someone else’s commentary on 

a topic is just as hopeless as sticking your 

fingers in your ears and singing loudly. 

Again, I am not saying that my particular 

belief is the only right one and everyone 

else had better get on board. I am pleading 

that you go to God in prayer, open your 

Bible, and dig for the whole counsel of 

God so that your faith is grounded in God’s 

truth. Confirm that the opinions expressed 

in such books are biblically supported. Do 

not continue to press forward uninformed. 

But this particular gateway has led to 

all manner of false teaching and deception, 

and I am not exclusively referring to espoused 

differences as to the timing of the 

Harpazo; there are those who profess no 

Harpazo at all! This has led to a general 

malaise if not intentional dismissal of Bible 

prophecy by very large and well-known 

groups. Despite the fact that Jesus Himself 

repeatedly warns in the Olivet Discourse 

(Mt. 24-25) to “be alert” and “do not be deceived”, 

such well-known leaders as Rick 

Warren advocate against studying prophecy 

or being distracted by End Times issues. 

I cannot decide what is more ignorant: not 

clearly understanding the Harpazo according 

to the way God’s Word explains it or 


deciding to ignore God’s Word on the subject 

altogether. 

Where we ultimately arrive on the issue 

of the Harpazo is foundational because 

it cannot be extracted from our faith in the 

entire work of Christ, both in this life and 

the one to come. 

But if the exotic differences for the application 

of the gifts of the Spirit and the 

doctrine of the Harpazo are not enough, we 

have the issue of literal Israel. These three 

issues plagued the church even before the 

close of the 1 st Century church, which is 

why the Apostles addressed them specifically. 

And they have been lingering in every 

subsequent era of history ever since. 

Once upon a time the mainstream 

Evangelical teaching where literal Israel 

is concerned embraced Paul’s teaching 

word-for-word, expressing the fact that 

God is not through with Israel yet and will 

ultimately fulfill every promise He made 

to them. In fact, most would have tied this 

issue to the Harpazo stating that one of the 

main purposes for extracting the church is 

for God to once again use and finish His 

work through literal Israel. But instead the 

mainstream view has been supplanted by 

variations of Replacementism. 

For the uninitiated this is the belief that 

God is through with Israel, they had their 

chance and blew it, and now everything has 

been given over to the church in its place. 

Every time a Scripture mentions “Israel”, 

adherents of Replacementism substitute 

“the church” and claim it no longer applies 

to literal Israel but exclusively to the New 

Testament body of believers. Never mind 

what Paul says in Romans and Corinthians, 

never mind that God by His very nature is 

incapable of not fulfilling literal promises 

He made to Israel, they have been replaced! 

Once you begin to travel down this 

path the ultimate destination and wayward 

sights along the way are quite interesting 

and about as afar from Scripture as one can 

go. One of the first stops has a lot of related 

names: “Dominionism”, “Triumphalism”, 

“Kingdom Now Theology”, etc. They all 

describe the notion that Christ will not return 

until the church – yes, the literal church 

on earth – conquers the world for Christ 

as a prelude to ushering in the Millennial 

Reign. (I find no satisfaction in pointing 

out the irony of how false beliefs concerning 

the spiritual gifts and the Harpazo 

compound and often contribute to this false 

teaching.) Some actually come to the conclusion 

there is no Millennial Reign at all. 

Even worse, this has led to a history of 

anti-Semitism and overt hatred of not just 

the nation Israel but its individual people. 

What kind of blindness is able to get a Christian 

who is supposed to love others and 

share the Gospel with every nation, race,

and person on the earth to come to hate and 

despise one particular nation, race, or person? 

Error begets error; one false doctrine 

leads to further false doctrines; ignorance 

of a foundational truth erodes the foundation 

itself until the whole house collapses. 

The three things which Paul specifically 

admonishes we should be biblically 

grounded in to the point of stating categorically 

not to be uninformed, ignorant, or in 

error regarding are the three things in which 

most people claiming the label “Christian” 

are actually most ignorant, uninformed, 

and steeped in biblical error. 

At this point it would be easy to slide 

into a discussion of how this is a reflection 

of the apostasy of the Last Days which is 

undoubtedly taking place, but I would offer 

that it might be compounded by Paul’s observation 

that in the Last Days the core issue 

is the lack of faithfulness. If people are 

not embracing and putting God’s Word into 

practice in the course of their daily life, how 

can we possibly expect them to do so where 

such foundational doctrines are concerned? 

But realize this, that in the last days difficult 

times will come. For men will be 

lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, 

arrogant, revilers, disobedient to 

parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, 

irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without 

self-control, brutal, haters of good, 

treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers 

of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 

holding to a form of godliness, although 

they have denied its power; Avoid such 

men as these. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) 

Show me a person, group, or organization 

embracing an extreme mistreatment 

of one or more of the foundational issues 

discussed above and we will find these behaviors 

at the root cause of the problem. 

Paul explained to Timothy that unfaithfulness 

to the everyday admonitions of God’s 

Word is what leads to deception where the 

greater foundational truths are concerned. 

Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed 

Moses, so these men also oppose the 

truth, men of depraved mind, rejected 

in regard to the faith. But they will not 

make further progress; for their folly 

will be obvious to all, just as Jannes’s 

and Jambres’s folly was also. (2 Timothy 

3:8-9) 

“Their folly” where the Spiritual gifts 

are concerned, “their folly” where God’s 

plan for the literal nation of Israel is concerned, 

“their folly” where the Harpazo is 

concerned. Ignorance is not bliss and never 

has been.

Heaviest Element Yet Known 

to Science: (Gv) 

Lawrence Livermore Laboratories 

has discovered the heaviest element yet 

known to science. The new element, Governmentium 

(Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant 

neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 

198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an 

atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles 

are held together by forces called morons, 

which are surrounded by vast quantities of 

lepton-like particles called peons. 

Since Governmentium has no electrons, 

it is inert; however, it can be detected, 

because it impedes every reaction with 

which it comes into contact. A tiny amount 

of Governmentium can cause a reaction that 

would normally take less than a second, to 

take from 4 days to 4 years to complete. 

Governmentium has a normal half-life 

of 2 – 6 years. It does not decay, but instead 

undergoes a reorganization in which a portion 

of the assistant neutrons and deputy 

neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium’s 

mass will actually increase 

over time, since each reorganization will 

cause more morons to become neutrons, 

forming isodopes. 

This characteristic of morons promotion 

leads some scientists to believe that 

Governmentium is formed whenevermorons 

reach a critical concentration. This 

hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical 

morass. When catalyzed with money, 

Governmentium becomes Administratium, 

an element that radiates just as much energy 

as Governmentium since it has half as 

many peons but twice as many morons.

Exchanging 

Religion for 

an Eternal 

Relationship 

with God 

Nineteen years ago we began inviting 

all the Roman Catholics we knew into 

our home to watch a video called Roman 

Catholicism: Crisis of Faith. The video explains 

the difference between belonging to 

a religion and having an intimate relationship 

with God. Former priests and nuns 

shared how our sovereign Lord opened 

their eyes to see and believe the Gospel of 

grace. Every Tuesday night we had a different 

group of Catholics watch the video. 

Their responses varied from one extreme 

to the other. Some stormed out of the house 

very upset and offended, but others stayed 

to ask questions. We invited the truth seekers 

to return on Wednesday nights for a 

Bible study on the Gospel of grace. Within 

three months we witnessed 17 Catholics 

exchange their religion for an eternal relationship 

of peace with their all-sufficient 

Savior. God was glorified as His Spirit and 

His Word brought forth new disciples for 

His Son! 

The Exchange of Religion 

The apostle Paul not only exchanged 

his religion for an everlasting relationship 

with the Lord Jesus Christ, he considered 

all his religious accomplishments worthless 

rubbish. If anyone had reason to boast 

and be proud of his religious status, it was 

Paul, “a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the 

Law, a Pharisee; as to zeal, a persecutor of 

the church; as to the righteousness which is 

in the Law, found blameless” (Phil. 3:5-6). 

Yet, he considered all this to be contemptible 

compared to changing his relationship 

with God from one of enmity and hostility 

to one of peace and harmony (Phil. 3:7-11; 

Col. 1:20). The notable religious credentials, 

which he once thought profitable, 

were actually worthless and damning to his 

soul (Luke 18:9-14). 

The Bondage of Religion 

True disciples of Jesus are those who 

have been set free by the truth as they abide 

in His Word (John 8:31-32). Those who do 

not know the truth will continue to be enslaved 

to the bondage of religion. Throughout 

history, the goal of every religion has 

been to control people. This has been accomplished 

with religious traditions, legalism, 

pride and deception. One example of 

this fierce religious loyalty is a comment 

we hear so often from Roman Catholics: “I 

was born a Catholic, and I will die a Catholic.” 

Yet true conversion can take place 

only if they confess, “I was born a sinner 

and will die a saint.” And what a way to 

die! By God’s amazing grace, saints are 

called to Christ (1 Cor. 1:9), have believed 

the truth about Christ (Rom. 10:14-17), 

have turned to Christ in repentance (1 Pet. 

2:25), are justified by the blood of Christ 

(Rom. 5:9), elected in Christ (Eph. 1:4), 

are united with Christ (Gal. 2:20), are being 

transformed into the image of Christ (2 

Cor. 3:18), are being kept and preserved by 

Christ (1 John 5:18) and will one day gain 

the glory of Christ (2 Thes. 2:14). Why 

would anyone chose to be enslaved to religion 

when they can become a blessed and 

privileged slave of the Lord Jesus? 

The End of Religion 

The Lord Jesus Christ never came 

to start a religion. In fact He put an end 

to the only religion God ever ordained. 

Ironically, the rulers of this God-ordained 

religion had become so corrupt they plotted 

to murder their Messiah (John 11:53). 

There was no more need for religion after 

Jesus, the perfect and eternal High Priest, 

offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice to 

a perfect God who demands perfection. 

The veil that once separated sinners from 

their holy God was torn open from top to 

bottom (Mat. 27:51). The one mediator between 

God and man provides access to the 

Father (1 Tim. 2:5). By faith in the shed 

blood of Jesus, repentant sinners can enter 

into the presence of God with confidence 

(Heb. 10:19-20). No more religion, no 

more priests offering sacrifices for sin and 

no more religious rituals or ceremonies. In 

place of religion, the risen Savior mediates 

a relationship with God through faith 

in His one sacrifice for all sin, for all time 

(Heb. 10:10-18). 

Christianity in its purest form is not 

a religion but a Spirit-sealed relationship 

with the God of all creation. Catholicism 

is Christianity in its most debased form. 

It became corrupt when it denied the finished 

and all-sufficient work of Jesus and 


perverted His Gospel. This warped Gospel 

of works leads people to a Christless 

eternity. To avoid deception, Christianity 

instructs people to study the Bible and believe 

what God says. Religion, on the other 

hand, requires people to believe what man 

says God says. When people without discernment 

submit to men who are naturally 

prone to error, they are easily deceived. 

Catholicism tries to overcome this by declaring 

its popes infallible in matters of 

faith. True Christianity is where God’s 

children follow the Lord Jesus, the only 

one who is immune from error. I will never 

forget what my uncle, a Catholic priest of 

58 years, said after I read to him Scriptures 

refuting Catholic traditions. He said, “God 

doesn’t mean what He says there; let me 

tell you what He really means.” 

The fiercest opponents of Jesus and the 

most influential pawns of Satan were the 

spiritual rulers of Judaism. 

The Deception of Religion 

When you ask most religious people 

what they are trusting to gain entrance into 

Heaven, they rarely mention the name of 

Jesus. That’s because their religion is ultimately 

the object of their faith. They 

trust their self-righteous clergy and their 

religious works and rituals to keep them 

Heaven bound. Tragically, they cannot see 

the glory and sufficiency of Christ Jesus. 

They have been blinded from the truth of 

the Gospel by religious indoctrination, a 

most effective tool of Satan (2 Cor. 4:4). 

His primary goal is to confuse people by 

corrupting and mangling truth as much 

as possible. Many victims of religious 

indoctrination are content to blindly trust 

their unregenerate spiritual rulers, who 

are willfully ignorant of biblical doctrine 

and are more interested in holding onto 

their power than seeking the truth. We 

have found that indoctrination so powerful 

that many Catholics refuse to engage 

in conversations about spiritual issues with 

non-Catholics. I recall, as a young indoctrinated 

Catholic, how “lucky” and proud 

I was to be born into what I was told to be 

the one true church. I felt sorry for Protestants 

who were not as “lucky” as I was. So 

blinded was I by Catholic traditions that I 

did not realize my zeal was misdirected. I 

was honoring God with my lips, but I was 

submitting to another Lord—the pope. 

The Attraction of Religion 

One of the primary attractions of a religion 

is its appeal to the flesh. The world 

tells us that “seeing is believing”—that we 

must see before we can believe. This explains 

why it is so easy for religious people 

to believe what they can see or touch. Catholics 

worship and consume the Eucharist, a

“god” they can see. They go to a priest they 

can see to receive sacraments they can see 

to merit the graces necessary for salvation. 

They light votive candles as a visible sign 

of their offerings. And yes, they bow down 

and pray toward statues they can see. 

Those who have a relationship with 

their Savior walk by faith not by sight (2 

Cor. 5:7). Since faith is the conviction of 

things not seen, we fix our eyes not on 

what is seen, but on what is unseen. For 

what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen 

is eternal (Heb. 11:1; 2 Cor. 4:18). Jesus 

said that only those who believe will 

see the glory of God (John 11:40). 

All religions teach that you must do 

things to appease their god or gods. Every 

religion has a works-based system of 

righteousness that instructs its followers as 

to what they must do to achieve spiritual 

blessings. This checklist mentality appeals 

to the natural man, but man’s best efforts 

are but filthy rags in the sight of a holy 

God (Isa. 64:6). Many do their good works 

because of their zeal for God, but they are 

ignorant of what God’s righteousness demands 

(Rom. 10:1-4). Christianity is set 

apart from all religions because its founder 

has done everything necessary for repenting 

sinners to have a right relationship 

with God. Spiritual blessings are available 

by God’s grace to all who trust what Jesus 

Christ has accomplished through His sinless 

life, death and resurrection. All religions 

say “DO” but true Christianity says 

“DONE.” Those who desire an eternal relationship 

with God must trust in what has 

been done by the Lord Jesus, apart from 

anything they do for Him (Ephesians 2:8-9). 

The Loyalty of Religion 

Religion stirs up a passionate loyalty 

to its rulers instead of to the Lord Jesus 

Christ. Who can forget the images of Pope 

John Paul II’s funeral? Thousands of misguided 

Catholics stood in long lines for up 

to 18 hours to venerate a dead man with an 

unbiblical rosary in his hands and a twisted 

crucifix by his side. What a sharp contrast to 

those who have an everlasting relationship 

with the only true Holy Father. They refuse 

to listen to the voice of robbers who are out 

to steal and destroy their souls. They flee 

from them and instead follow the voice of 

the Good Shepherd who gave His life for 

His sheep and calls them by name (John 

10:3-11). They come to Him for eternal life, 

mourning over the sins that nailed Him to 

the cross. They recognize their unworthiness 

to be in His presence, yet they rejoice 

in the hope they have in His Word (Psalm 

130:5). Christ and His Word are so connected 

that one cannot have a relationship 

with Him apart from His Word (John 8:47). 

Those who desire to have a relationship

with the true God must seek Him from the 

only infallible source for truth. All religious 

teachings, including teachings in this article, 

must be tested for veracity by searching 

the Scriptures (Acts 17:11). Those who 

cling to religious teachings while rejecting 

God’s Word will be condemned on the last 

day by the very Word they rejected (John 

12:48). Conversely, those who believe the 

Scriptures have been born again through 

the incorruptible seed which is the Word 

of God (1 Pet. 1:23). As children of God, it 

is their ambition to be pleasing to the one 

who set them free from the bondage of religion 

(2 Cor. 5:9-10). 

We must take the same approach Jesus 

did by refuting religious error and opposing 

those who spread it. Religion can 

never save anyone, in fact it cuts them 

off from God and the saving power of the 

Gospel (Rom. 1:16; 4:2-8). Let us exhort 

those who are enslaved to their worthless 

and empty religions to become privileged 

slaves of the Lord Jesus Christ. 

“Many deceivers have gone out into 

the world...Whoever transgresses and does 

not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not 

have God” (2 John 7-9)

I bought a new computer! Being so used 

to the Name of God as Yahweh that when the 

boy that was installing it asked me whom I 

was “with” – (Yahoo) I kept saying, “I am 

with Yahweh!” He just looked at & stared at 

me and I kept making the same mistake again 

and again! Poor Boy! 

Then I ended up using it for witness – Re 

prophecy – had a real opening!! 

God must often smile!

(Q.) Dear Jacob, 

I was wondering if you think it is possible 

that the story in Genesis 19 about Sodom 

and Gomorrah could be dealing with 

more than just militant homosexuality. While 

it is, at a minimum, God’s condemnation of 

homosexuality, I also wondered whether this 

was a repeat of the sin of Genesis 6:2 (angels 

procreating with humankind) but in reverse 

(mankind trying to procreate with angels), as 

Genesis 19 starts out “And there came two 

angels to Sodom at even.” Lot bows down 

to these 2 angels, seemingly indicating he 

knows they are more than 2 ordinary men. 

And when the 2 angels blind the homosexuals 

outside the home, they should have known 

by then these 2 were supernatural (angels) 

and they continued to desire after them. This 

might also be the reason God judgment is so 

harsh and the cities are destroyed. (I’ve often 

wondered why San Francisco is still standing, 

if Genesis 19 is a story about God’s judgment 

on homosexuality). Perhaps this is what 

Genesis 6:4 means when it says “there were 

giants in the Earth in those days, and also after 

that.” There were occasional foci practicing 

the sin of Genesis 6, and Sodom was one 

them. What do you think? Thanks in advace

(A.) Greetings & Blessings in Jesus. 

In response to your question Brother 

Lyndon, your observation in itself is insightful 

and indeed valid. 

In my view, what you appear to miss 

however is what may be some of the strongest 

points in favor of this proposed interpretation. 

1) We always interpret the Old Testament 

in light of the New Testament, When the New 

Testament comments on Sodom & Gomorrah, 

it does such in juxtaposed connection 

with Genesis 6 (Jude 6 -7 & 2 Peter 2: 4-9) 

both times. Hence the two passages are connected 

doctrinally and theologically. 

2) Both homosexuality and copulation 

with the angelic/ demonic (or bestiality) are 

corruptions of the ‘Imagio Dei’ design of human 

sexuality in Genesis 3 and both violate 

the principle of of “min” or according to 

‘kind’ (Hebrews could not even mix seed). 

3) Romans teaches that homosexuals bring 

judgment on themselves because their own 

unnatural actions harm them (Romans 1:26- 

27). Divine judgment of homosexuals is more 

stressed in eternity (Revelation 21:8 & 22:15). 

All of this lends further credence to what 

you propose. 

On the other hand, this proposition falls 

however in that divine judgment was already 

hovering over Sodom prior to the angelic 

presence in Lot’s house in the previous chapter 

Genesis 18 due to the general depravity of 

which the context shows homosexuality was 

paramount without reference to the two angels 

(there is no chapter division in the original 

Hebrew manuscripts; these were interpolated 

later of course simply to make the text 

more readable and easier to recall). 

There is additionally a prophetic typology 

in the saga of Sodom & Gomorrah of 


eschatologically importance addressed on 

our recording of the exposition of this text. 

We once studied this on location in Israel 

with David Hocking’s group and our group 

together at the southern tip of the Dead Sea at 

En Boqeq near to Ramat Zoar where Lot escaped 

to (even though the precise locations of 

Sodom and Gomorrah remain the subject of 

debate and speculation by archeologists and 

geologists, we know where Zoar is). 

In essence, as best as I can presently determine, 

I would say that there is an element 

of validity in this particular interpretation - 

but not to the degree of saying that God did 

not destroy Sodom & Gomorrah because of 

homosexuality, but only because of the perverse 

and unnatural desire for strange flesh 

because Genesis chapter 18 would preclude 

this as judgment was already looming. 

To go further into this subject in greater 

depth I would need to venture into the eschatological 

typology - which is not really a 

good thing to attempt by e-mail. Wishing You

1) Re Altar Calls 

Is it necessary to have altar calls? The 

WORD convicts and the Spirit moves and 

hovers over the assembly and communicates 

and ministers to each one of us yielded. Is 

that not the way? There should be liberty and 

flow and souls are converted and returned to 

the Lord. The altar call kind of cuts the Body 

and when pastors asked the Lord to come for 

them at the altar, it is as though that it as far 

as the Spirit moves. 

I can’t help feeling this too is of the flesh. 

Your advice according to the Word is most 

appreciated. 

2) The Name of Jesus 

.........musing......Now that I know the Hebrew 

(original) name is Yeshua, why do we 

still use the Greek interpretation Jesus? How 

does this agree with sons of Zion vs sons of 

Greece ...Zechariah 9:13 on reflect..I suppose 

all the saints’ names will have to be changed 

too.... Your comments are appreciated.

(A.) 1. Altar calls do not of course require any 

altar by the cross of Christ. There are for sure 

other biblical methods of evangelism, but as 

we see in Acts chapter 2 “altar calls” are not 

unscriptural providing the Gospel is clearly 

explained and the commitment it involves. 

Altar calls have been undermined too often 

by the preaching of “cheap grace”. The problem 

however is not the method but the diluted 

message. 

2. I speak Hebrew and English. When 

my family or friends speaks to me in English 

they call me Jacob. When they speak to me 

in Hebrew they me Yakov. Johannan is John, 

Shimon is Simon, Shimshon is Samson and 

Yeshua is Jesus. The New Testament quotes 

and cites the Septuagint repeatedly. If it was 

wrong to call God who is Elohim in Hebrew 

THEOS in Greek the Apostles would not 

have inspired to do it. 

Keep away from these ´sacred Name´ legalistic 

kooks. They are ignorant and often cultic.

this because I, myself, am unable to do so adequately. 

Essentially, the basis of this man’s 

argument is that the New Testament Greek 

is flawed because it’s original is in Hebrew. 

I would appreciate any help you can provide 

me on this. 

Here is the text from the gentleman in 

question :No, what you call the new testament 

was written in Hebrew, because I have 

the Hebrew copy here before me. it was only 

translated into Greek later on. All the apostles 

were Hebrew, not Greek, and they didn’t 

grow up in Greece. Don’t take my word. If 

you observe the wording and grammar of 

the new testament you will find that it does 

not correspond with Greek at all. Also, there 

are Aramith=Aramaic and Hebrew names retained 

in the new testament. If it was written 

in Greek they would have told of their own 

names for those places, because the Greeks 

were stationed in the land of Israel during 

that time. And most Jews=are not Hebrews 

but Europeans. Russians, and Germans, and 

Polish, etc. no the Hebrews are originally a 

brown skinned race. Nope I am not prejudice, 

but throughout history we have often been 

mistaken for Egyptians and Ethiopians, or 

maybe southern Arabs. that is just the truth. 

And his name is not Yeshua.......that started 

with the Talmud...a Hebrew akronym=yod 

shin waw .. which was a play on the words.... 

yimakh shemo w’zikrono... which means literally...” 

may his name be blotted out” because 

most Jews don’t trust that mashiyx has come 

yet. That is how it has been for hundreds of 

years and it is all documented in the Talmud. 

however if you look at the book called Numbers 

13:16 in the Hebrew, you will see that 

Mosheh only called hoshea=yehowshua, because 

that was a type of yehowshua to come. 

his name was Hoshea ben nun, but Mosheh 

called him yehowshua ben nun, a name 

told of the one who would lead the sons of 

Yashira’il into the land of covenant. also, the 

other hints of his name are in the books of 

the Hebrew prophets, like in Chagai=Haggai 

chapters 1+2, and in Zephanyah 3+6, tell-

testament” tells more about Yehowshua than 

what you call the new testament does! like I

Europeans in their superstitions and lies 

don’t say the letters ‘yod he’ waw he’. But if 

Yhwh didn’t want us to say such a thing, he 

never would have had it spoken of in Hebrew 

scriptures. As I say.. I am Hebrew, not Jewish. 

Jews are Europeans who adopted the culture. I 

am Hebrew, exiled with my people, suffering 

in a land not my own because of my fathers 

many sins. but i turn away from those sins. 

I don’t push you away. We have our differences. 

Don’t think because of what you 

have learned is true. Don’t ask a pastor or 

preacher for your answers to the Bible, because 

his majesty told long ago that the pastors 

would not seek him and mislead the people 

(Yirmeyah=Jeremiah chapters 2, 3, 10, 12, 

22+ 23). trust in God, however you perceive 

Him to be, and ask Him all your questions. if 

you ask with faith, and hope to know a true 

answer, you will get it. but the truth is hidden 

and most are following lies and deceptions! 

Don’t put your trust in any man! (Yirmeyah 

17:5) trust in GOD, AND GOD ALONE. 

Don’t worship man, worship God! And Him 

alone serve. 

(A.) This is a nonsense hypothesis. Those who 

have attempted to propound this argument on 

a more scholarly level (The Jerusalem School 

of Synoptic Research) do not, after 20 years, 

have a single Hebrew source manuscript. 

There is one ancient patristic reference 

from Heggisippus that Matthew’s Gospel 

was originally in Hebrew, but that may have 

been a Hebrew dialect of Aramaic akin to 

the Peshita text. All Syriac manuscripts we 

have are translated from Greek and all of the 

20,000 New Testament fragments we have, 

including the earliest codexes and scroll fragments 

are Greek. 

Jesus would have mainly spoken the Hebrew 

dialect of Aramaic. But we do not have 

one source manuscript in anything but Greek. 

Most of those trying to build a case for this 

rubbish are ignorant charlatans who cannot 

even read or speak Hebrew themselves. 

The body of manuscript pieces for the 

New Testament is around 10,000, just of the 

Gospels alone as opposed to 420 pieces for 

Caesar’s Conquests. It is a massive record 

far exceeding anything from the ancient Near 

East yet not one is anything but Greek. 

Don’t pay any attention to these silly 

people. They are at best ignorant kooks. Some 

of them however have formed heretical cults 

such as ‘The Sacred Name Movement” etc.

My brother Jacob, 

I commend you for speaking the truth in love. The document that was drafted by Chuck 

Colson and Princeton University professor Robert P. George, a Roman Catholic is clearly another 

attempt to bring ecumenical unity to all of professing Christianity and blur the lines that 

separate apostates from true Christians. Why are evangelicals putting their signatures on another 

accord drafted by Colson, who has stated that the following differences should not divide 

Catholics and Evangelicals as “brothers and sisters in Christ” - baptismal regeneration, the 

Eucharist, sacramental grace, justification by works, purgatory, indulgences, the role of Mary 

and the saints in salvation, and salvation for those not evangelized? (1997 ECT II). 

Many of the signers of Colson’s Evangelicals and Catholics Together Accord have given 

their name to this accord as well. Purposefully, the Gospel is never defined, explained or 

presented in the Manhattan Declaration. This is because of the contradictory and opposing 

views on the issue of justification and salvation that are held by the signatories. The implication 

throughout the document is that Roman Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant Evangelicals 

share a common faith. This blatantly ignores the fact that there can be never be spiritual 

unity between true Christianity and apostate Christianity, between believers and unbelievers or 

between light and darkness (2 Cor. 6:14-18). The apostle Paul never signed unity accords with 

people who perverted the Gospel of Jesus Christ; he condemned them with anathema (Gal. 

1:6-9). It was Paul’s great fear that, just as the serpent deceived Eve, we would put up with 

counterfeit Christians who preach another Jesus and another gospel (2 Cor. 11:4). He warned 

us that these false apostles and deceitful workers, who disguise themselves as our brothers in 

Christ, would corrupt our minds and lead us astray (2 Cor. 11:13). 

Whereas it is good to unite as co-belligerents with a united voice to fight moral and political 

issues, any accord that attempts to overlook, dismiss, nullify or compromise the Gospel is 

antithetical to the command for all Christians to earnestly contend for the faith. We can never 

deny the profound importance of protecting the life of every baby and the sanctity of marriage 

between one man and one woman. We must earnestly contend against those who seek to destroy 

both. However, we must remember that this is a spiritual battle which can only be won through 

fervent prayer and the proclamation of the true Gospel, a Gospel that is denied by every Catholic 

priest when he offers the Eucharistic Christ upon his altar for the forgiveness of sins. If Evangelicals 

must put their names on accords, why not draft our own accord that, first and foremost 

starts with a God-honoring, Christ-exalting unity in the one and only Gospel of grace? 

Charles Spurgeon said “To pursue union at the expense of truth is treason to the Lord Jesus”. 

Since we have been sanctified by the truth, we must remain separate for God’s glory and purpose. 

Let us pray to our sovereign Lord, proclaim His glorious Gospel and contend earnestly for the faith.

Have you heard about it, seen it, read it, signed it? I am curious to know what you think. 

I’m not a fan of the Chuck Colson ecumenical movement. However, this statement is approaching 

America and I am an American concerned with America’s wayward movement. They are 

lining up on three very positive, Biblical items, and it doesn’t seem as though they are watering 

down the statement that these are godly, God-given mandates. 

The conspiracy theorist in me does wonder if we are giving our enemy a hit list! Anyway, 

I would love to hear your thoughts. 

I had not heard of this before your e-mail. I did a quick review and although I can understand 

how these groups could unite over these three issues Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses and 

even Hindu and Buddhist groups could become signatory as well. The uniting factor is social 

action and the attempt to help society to behave better. However, without the gospel there is 

no change in the sinner really. In fact, it may be detrimental in the sense that we create better 

behaved sinners who do not see any need for salvation. The one thing these groups do not agree 

on is the gospel. 

Like you, I am an American and grieve over the current direction of the nation. It has been 

a long time coming (since the early 1800’s) while the church largely abandoned culture. More 

recently it has been more enamored with tea and circuses. I have to say that the church of the 

first three centuries did more by how they lived and argued their case than by how much they 

demanded that culture accept and imitate them. This strikes me as a man made attempt to rechristianize 

the nation without the gospel as central to what is being done. That is just my gut 

level opinion with a cursory glance.

Prayer Request for Persecuted Church in Vietnam 

News Alert 

Moriel Japan received the following e-mail this week and prayer request from our friend, a Christian worker among the tribal people groups of 

Vietnam. (Village, province and people names changed to D…) ‘Rev T..’ has been a long time friend of us in Moriel Japan. He has been arrested three 

times and spent over 10 years in Vietnamese labor camps for his mission work. 

Please pray for his work, the many new tribal believers there, and that the government will grant permits for their numerous house churches. (God 

knows the people and places!) 

Please also pray as they translate Moriel messages into Vietnamese that they will have a wide reading. “Dear Brother, Thank God and thank you 

so much.” 

In December 20th 2009, we preached the Gospel outside of our house church at (D….) province. There were many problems with Vietnamese 

Local Government. But praise The Lord, there were 460 people attended and 14 new believers. 

Last Christmas, we went to (abroad) to preach the Holy Bible for Vietnamese churches. (There) I and my wife could study in 2 weeks at a bible 

college. 

We came back to Vietnam and our churches in ….. province, there are many problems with (D….. local) Government. We have built 16 house 

churches, but we were not allowed from …… Government, so that they said that all house churches are inlegoze. (illegal?) 

We asked to build a building church for (D… village). But from December 2009 to now, we could not get the permit. May you pray for us. Thank 

you about 6 materials for VN church. (Mr. D…) will help to translate 6 messages to Vietnamese. May God bless you, your family and your ministry.

Moriel Haiti Donation to MAF 

Moriel Ministries is contributing $10,000 of the contributions it received to address the needs of the Haiti earthquake victims to Mission Aviation 

Fellowship [1] (MAF), a long-standing Evangelical missions organization specializing in reaching remote and underprivileged areas of the world 

through missionaries operating a fleet of small aircraft, the establishment of communication systems, and distance learning programs to evangelize and 

disciple wherever possible. The on-the-ground reports of their activities in Haiti are provided and updated here [2]. 

As has been the case with other natural disasters such as the tsunami in Indonesia, MAF already had missionary families operating small aircraft in 

the area when the earthquake struck. Because they specialize in getting aid out to the hardest-to-reach areas, nearly every participating relief organization, 

religious or secular, seeks to partner with MAF because they have the skills and integrity to ensure that equipment, supplies, and services reach 

those for which they are intended. They also provide the establishment of satellite and radio communications which often assist in the coordination of 

these efforts at a crucial time when communication infrastructures are normally overloaded or inoperable. 

Because of the nature of operating small aircraft, they are not only able to bring much needed relief to the remotest of areas, but to extract those 

needing medical and other emergency services. They have already provided an additional plane to their existing fleet to step up efforts, and they are depended 

upon by many other organizations who can get large amounts of supplies to Haiti in general but are unable to distribute them fully to those most 

needing them specifically. This is an organization bridging the gap between donor and recipient, ensuring that the aid so generously offered is actually 

getting to the people it was most intended to assist as quickly as possible. 

One of the tangible benefits they have been able to provide in this time of crisis is to transfer those needing medical care in the over-run urban areas 

out to the more remote rural hospitals which did not suffer the kinds of physical damage experienced in Port Au Prince. But an even greater benefit is 

the opportunity these missionaries are being provided to share Christ not only with the victims of the earthquake, but with relief agency workers also 

engaged in the overall effort. MAF personnel in such situations become effective witnesses for Christ at a time when it is needed most.

Street Preachers Killed In United States 

Saturday, February 6, 2010 (8:39 am), By Worthy News North America Service 

WASHINGTON, USA (Worthy News [1])– A religious liberty group warned Saturday, February 6, that “Anti-Christian hostility is getting increasingly 

deadly” in the United States after two street preachers were shot and killed by a teenager who apparently opposed their message. “The increasing 

demonization of Christians in our culture makes some feel its open season on Christians,” said Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission. 

Tite Sufra, 24 (pictured above), and Stephen Ocean (pictures below), 23, were shot and killed late Saturday, January 30, in Boynton Beach in the 

U.S. State of Florida, where they evangelized, after meeting 18-year-old Jeriah Woody, local police said. “They witnessed to Woody for fifteen minutes 

when he got a phone call and told the preachers he ‘had to go,” added the Commission, which closely monitored the case. 

Christians Executed 

“As they walked away, Woody suddenly started walking back toward them. Sufra walked up to greet him and was killed with a shot gun blast at 

point blank range. When Ocean ran, he was shot in the back. After he fell, Woody shot him in the head execution style.” 

Woody was detained Wednesday, February 3, and is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Bail was reportedly denied to him. 

Cass complained about a lack of interest in national media. “As of today, there are no national news organizations reporting this vicious murder of 

two innocent Christian men. Why?” Cass said, “I’ll ask this: If two Muslims, or two feminists or two homosexuals were murdered, wouldn’t the media be 

all over it? These were two fine young black Christian men shot by another black man for their Christian faith, yet the media does not seem to care.” 

“Ominous Sign” 

He described the case as “an ominous sign” of times “that Christians are being shot on the streets and in our churches.” 

Last year Jim Pullion was killed while holding pro-life signs in front of his granddaughter’s Owasso Michigan high school. Reverend Fred Winters 

was murdered while preaching in his pulpit in Maryville, Illinois. 

“Increasingly we see Christian ministers threatened and churches terrorized and vandalized for their stand on marriage. Now when Christians gather 

for worship they must have armed security.” 

He said, “Anti-Christian defamation and bigotry has helped to create this violent climate and it must stop.” (With reporting by Worthy News’ Stefan J. Bos)

THE MANHATTAN DECLARATION AND OUR REGRETFUL INABILITY TO BECOME SIGNATORY

In an era of diminishing of the Judeo-Christian religious and moral liberty upon which the founding of both American and British democracy 

were historically predicated there is indeed a vital urgency to actively confront the assault on those rights by the agenda set what in effect amounts 

to a tyranny of a highly vocal and disproportionately over represented minority in everything . This has manifested itself in a virtual suppression of 

solid scientific fact in everything from the implausibility of Darwinist presupposition to the clinically documented reduced longevity of homosexuals 

to the embryonic and obstetric realities of elective non- clinical abortion as a de fact means of birth control. The forced imputation of these and other 

social insanities to the violation of the moral convictions of a statistical majority constitutes an abrogation of both constitutional principle and of the 

very national heritage that bequeathed us constitutional government and liberty to begin with. No one in his right mind could read the preamble of 

the US constitution, the Declaration of Independence or the highly theistic writings of the British parliamentarians and logically arrive at the absurd 

non-theistic misinterpretation of separation of church and state currently demanded by such organizations as the ACLU. 

We further state that in the USA , despite the efforts of certain political moguls to attribute these trends to the liberal Democratic Party. It was in 

fact the Eisenhower Republican Supreme Court of Earl Warren that ordered God out of the classroom contrary to the will of the popular majority. It 

was the Nixon Republican Supreme Court of Warren Burger that ordered God out of the maternity ward with Roe V wade. It was Ronald Reagan’s 

Republican pro abortion Supreme Court appointee, Sandra Day O’Connor (appointed by Reagan after he lied to voters promising to be pro life) who 

ordered God out of the court room with the decision she authored to remove the 10 Commandments from the Alabama Judicial building. Again it was 

Reagan’s Sandra Day O’ Connor who also wrote the Supreme court decision outlawing Texas anti sodomy laws opening the flood gate for same sex 

marriages. It was likewise a George W. Bush appointed Republican federal judge who ruled against intelligent design being allowed to be taught in 

paste funded schools along side of Darwinistic evolution. 

All of these policies legislated from the bench by an out of control judiciary usurping the power of congress and imposing anti democratic decisions 

on the majority were achieved courtesy of the Republican Party usually supported by the ‘religious right’ and many undiscerning and naïve 

Christians who foolishly believed the lies of these professional liars. Thus we note that the Manhattan Declaration’s senior architect, Chuck Colson, 

is a recognized kingpin of this religious right of the Republican Party who have consistently betrayed the Christians who voted for them doing the 

diametric opposite in areas of religious freedom and social morality from what they promised. We find it impossible to accept Chuck Colson as anything 

more than a stooge of a Republican Party establishment that has repeatedly proven itself to be no more interested in Christian concerns than the 

Democratic Party, and the Manhattan Declaration must in significant part be viewed in that context. 

Chuck Colson also however is co-author of the ‘Evangelicals and Roman Catholics Together’ betrayal which sells the millions of biblical Evangelicals 

who converted from Roman Catholicism to scriptural Christianity. This agreement defers from the biblically Evangelical gospel to the sacramental 

and auto-atonement purgatorial false gospel of Roman Catholicism, rejecting the need to evangelize Catholics and accepting its transubstantiated 

idolatry and necromancy as somehow compatible with The New Testament which it is not. 

The iconic theosis and necromancy of Eastern Orthodoxy is likewise not Orthodox Christianity in the biblical sense but a heterodox Patristic 

invention of the Eastern Church Fathers alien to the authentic gospel. More alien still are the beliefs of Mormonism which teaches that Jesus Christ , 

whom scriptures identifies as ‘monogenes’ or ‘only begotten of The Father is rather the ‘spirit brother of Satan’. 

It is obvious that Moriel & Jacob Prasch share in all of the concerns expressed in this declaration and always have even prior to its being drafted 

regarding the important issues of assisted suicide, non therapeutic abortion, embryo destructive research, and same sex marriage (in effect made possible 

by Mr. Colson’s fellow Republicans). 

If this were a mere secular document on behalf of Moriel Jacob Prasch could and would easily become signatory. It is however packaged and 

presented as a Christian document inherently carrying the implication of accepting elements of Christendom we cannot on the basis of scripture hold 

to be genuine Christianity as our fellow believers. 

This is not however to imply any opposition to Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Mormon people by Moriel or Jacob Prasch. It is however to 

establish our fundamental disagreement of their basic doctrinal theology and to voice our firm opposition to ecumenical figures Mr. Colson, Norman 

Geisler and other supposed Evangelicals who compromise the essential substance of the New Testament gospel for a counterfeit unity not grounded 

in scriptural truth. 

The current pope Benedict upon assuming office issued a statement which was tantamount to a papal edict proclaiming that only Roman Catholicism 

is a true church. As we speak another humongous scandal exposing widespread pedophilia by sex criminal Roman Catholic clergy in Ireland 

being protected by the hierarchy under a Roman Catholic doctrine that allows intentional misleading of people and authorities in order to protect 

criminal sex pervert pedophile priests and nuns instead of the defenseless children whose lives they destroy without their ‘church’ considering it to be 

a lie. Countless thousands of small children have been the victims and droves of child molesting sex criminals shielded from arrest and prosecution 

according to official Irish government investigations. 

Mormonism has likewise repeatedly denounced inn its doctrines & covenants non Mormon Christianity and dating back to the serial polygamy of 

its founders has an ugly history of what most would consider to be pedophilia. 

One signatory of this declaration is Peter Kreeft who argues in print for a vision of Mohammed and others having salvation and being in heaven 

without a personal saving faith in Christ. In his book ‘Ecumenical Jihad’ Kreeft calls for ecumenical union with Islam to morally redeem society. 

Moriel & Jacob Prasch can have no partnership with such wickedness and cannot convey any impression that we accept those propounding such 

erroneous beliefs and practices to be our brethren in Christ. Indeed, the evils perpetrated by these false religions are as co-equally wicked as the evils 

the declaration seeks to counter. 

Independent of ourselves, we learned that such figures as John Mac Arthur and Alistair Begg have nobly voiced some of our concerns concerning 

the compromise of the biblical gospel inherent in this declaration and likewise have quite correctly declined to become signatory although endorsing 

its aims. We thank God and them for their stance and Christian integrity. 

We again emphasize that we are not opposed to Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Mormon people personally and we share in the convictions 

contained in this declaration. While sanctioning the contents however, we can never become signatory to anything published under the demonic 

auspices of ecumenical deception.
