dEar FriENds oF st. rita,
Our theme of “Spirituality­and
Trauma” and the contributing writers
we chose for this issue unbeknownst
to us at the time we discussed the
choices, providentially became more
pertinent reflecting upon tragic
events in the Fall and close of 2012.
As is the practice here at the Shrine
of St. Rita, the patron of reconciliation,
forgiveness and peace, the
intentions of those affected by major
tragedies are held in prayer along
with all friends of the Shrine in our
Masses celebrated daily and in the
daily vespers of our friars.
The work of Development for the
Shrine and its ministries through the
building campaign of the Cascia
Center continues. We reached out
last month to all of you who had
contributed to the 2010-2012
Capital Campaign to give you the
opportunity to offer an end-of-theyear
gift. It was heartwarming to see
how many friends found a way to

options for renovation and building

ministries to one location, to sustain
our desire to assist those in need,
and to create new ministries to extol
the virtues of St. Rita!
