Literary Club and the Mayana Gallery<br />

invite the public to “Rusalia: Fertility<br />

Rites of Spring,” an exhibit of photo<br />

reproductions featuring the ancient ritual<br />

celebrations as depicted on <strong>Ukrainian</strong><br />

bracelet jewelery from the <strong>Kyiv</strong>an-Rus’<br />

period (12th-13th centuries). Opening is<br />

at 7 p.m.; exhibit tour and explanations by<br />

YONKERS, N.Y.: <strong>The</strong> <strong>Ukrainian</strong> Heritage<br />

Festival will take place on June 15, 6-10<br />

p.m.; June 16, 1-10 p.m.; and June 17, 1- 7<br />

p.m. It will be held on the grounds of St.<br />

Michael’s <strong>Ukrainian</strong> Catholic Church,<br />

located at North Broadway and Shonnard<br />

Place. <strong>The</strong> free-admission event features<br />

outdoor entertainment, demonstrations of<br />

<strong>Ukrainian</strong> arts and crafts, food, carnival<br />

rides, amusements and exhibits. On<br />

Saturday at 1-4 p.m. there will be discounted<br />

ride tickets at only $1 per ride. As it continues<br />

to grow from year to year, the festival<br />

now draws over 10,000 people from the<br />

local area as well as neighboring states. For<br />

“Vyshyvani Vechornytsi,” commemorating<br />

the 75th anniversary of the establishment of<br />

the Pittsburgh branch of the <strong>Ukrainian</strong><br />

National Women’s League of America<br />

(UNWLA), will be held at the Holiday Inn<br />

in Greentree. <strong>The</strong> social hour will begin at<br />

5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., followed by<br />

dancing to the orchestra Lvivyany. We<br />

encourage everyone to wear his or her<br />

embroidered ethnic costume during this<br />

evening. After dinner, branch members will<br />

have delicious multi-layered tortes for sale.<br />
