Why Live On Campus, Anyway?
MARIAN UNIVERSITY
Indianapolis
We could go on and on about all the reasons it makes sense for Marian University students to live on campus. But here are three of the best:
[ 1 ] [ 2 ]
Students who live
on campus get
better grades. It’s
true! National statistics indicate
students who live in campus
housing earn higher grade point
averages than students who live
off campus.
You’ll never miss out on
everything going on here.
Twenty-two intercollegiate
athletic teams. Over 35 student
organizations. Theatre, music, arts. Not to
mention just hanging out with your best
friends. There’s always something going
on at Marian University—and when you
live here, you’ll never miss a thing!
Let Us Show You
CAMPUS HOUSING AT MARIAN UNIVERSITY
housing
make yourself at home
I wanted the opportunity to grow and learn how to be independent
by living on campus. The best thing about living on campus is the
community. I love being able to walk down the hallway and chat with
my closest friends. Also, I love living within a community that fosters
my intellect and my faith at the same time.
I was a transfer student and my old school did not have on-campus
housing. I felt very disconnected from my school. I got to know
everyone at Marian University really fast and gained my own little
Marian University family. Also being 10 minutes away from home is
pretty cool.
Where will I live?
MARIAN UNIVERSITY
Indianapolis
A Great Place To Learn.
A Great Place To Live.
Let’s face it: a university is not just a place to learn;
it’s also a place to live. So when you’re deciding where
you’re going to spend the next four years of your life,
consider the convenience of on-campus housing.
And when you do, you’ll have another great reason to
put Marian University at the top of your list. Compare
our housing options with those at other schools. We
think you’ll appreciate the differences!
I chose to live on campus to get the feel of living
in a community with my peers. I also wanted to
be independent and learn what the whole college
experience was. It was one of the best decisions
I have made! I’ve learned so much about myself,
about others, and what I want out of life.
BreAnna Nuñez, Class of 2012
Hometown: Hartford City, Indiana
Major: Marketing with a minor in global studies
and pastoral leadership
Living on campus was an opportunity to gain
independence and be on my own. I knew it would
also give me an opportunity to meet a lot of new
people and make new friends.
Luke Scifres, Class of 2014
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
Major: Secondary education (biology)
Not every student wants or needs the same things in a place to live.
That’s why Marian University has a range of on-campus housing
options that provide students with the living environments they’re
looking for.
Many fi rst-year students are housed at Doyle Hall—a place we created
to help our newest students make the transition between home and
college and get acquainted with the campus community. The central
lobby is a gathering place for both social and academic activities;
in fact, everything about Doyle Hall encourages community and
relationship building. It’s a wonderful place to meet new friends and
explore everything Marian University has to offer.
Upper-level students have several housing options. Clare Hall
features double suite-style rooms on the second fl oor and traditional
community-style doubles on the third fl oor. It houses the Barbara B.
Cooling Dining Center and many administrative offi ces.
Ideal Options For Every Student
University Hall is our newest campus addition. Opened in the fall of
2008, it provides suite-style rooms and large updated common areas
for student gathering. Kitchenettes are available on each fl oor and the
outdoor patio is a great environment in the warmer months.
Looking for a little more freedom? Marian University also offers
on-campus apartments and houses for students 21 and older.
Apartments include two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with laundry
facilities and utilities included. Specifi c house amenities vary by
location, but all include laundry facilities and basic utilities.
On campus housing at Marian University is a great place to live
because of the great students who live there. Bringing together the
academic and social environment makes students more successful
and more satisfi ed with their surroundings. You’ll love it here!
THE AMENITIES
YOU WANT
The best thing about living on campus
is being able to interact with a lot
of different people. For me it is
convenient. Marian University is a
smaller campus, so my classes, dining,
and the library are so close that it is
not a problem to be on time to class.
Living on campus gives one a sense
of pride and keeps you connected
with clubs and activities that you are
a part of.
Kyle Ratliff, Class of 2012
Hometown: New Albany, Indiana
Major: Biology
First impressions are important. And we’ve been told time and time again that
students from other schools’ impression of the rooms at Marian University is,
Wow! Your room is cool!
It’s true: our residence halls feature spacious rooms and great amenities.
Rooms include:
Extra-long twin beds
Desks
Desk chairs
Dressers
Cable TV and Internet service
Telephone service in some buildings
Common areas are also spacious, with the features students need and
want, including:
TV lounges
Study lounges
Computer labs
Free laundry facilities
Vending areas
Kitchenettes (select environments)
In addition, students on campus have great options for dining—not only
the Barbara B. Cooling Dining Center, but also SUBWAY® at the RLSC and
the Knight and Day Café in the library, which houses a coffee shop and a
convenience store for snacks and essentials. Put it all together, and you have
everything you need to live comfortably and productively!
