Avery ® IPM Banner Film issued: 16/03/2001
Introduction
Avery IPM Banner is a matte coated extremely tear resistant banner media designed for ink jet print
receptivity on a wide selection of wide format inkjet printers.
Description
Facefilm:
285 micron matt white top coated polyolefin film
Features
- Excellent printing performance
- Excellent tear resistance
- Easy conversion using conventional finishing techniques
Recommendations for use
Full-colour indoor and outdoor banner graphics.
Compatibility
Avery IPM Banner is compatible with a broad selection of inkjet printers and can be printed with preferably
pigmented inks. For details per printer, reference is made to "Technical Bulletin 5.6 Avery Dennison Inkjet
Print Media - Printer compatibility".
Under high humidity conditions IPM Banner may exhibit a small degree of leading edge cockle when left in
some printers for an extended period of time.
If cockling is present, it is recommended to feed a small amount of IPM banner 10-20 cm out of the printer
prior to printing
Finishing
IPM Banner is compatible with most standard conventional banner finishing techniques such as hem
stitching, grommets, tape lamination etc. IPM Banner is not recommended for thermal seaming. To transport
the finished graphics to the installation location, it is recommended the banner should be wound-printed side
facing out and placed in a tube. Hard creases such as folding of a finished banner should be avoided so as
not to damage the graphic and/or print receptive surface. Hard creases may not flatten out during installation.
The banner should be secured from all four corners during installation for best results.
Note
IPM media should be handled with care as any surface contamination may affect the print quality. To protect
prints against water, UV/light and abrasion, overlamination with a clear Avery DOL film is recommended. For
specific details of Avery DOL combinations, refer to "Technical Bulletin 5.3. Recommended combinations of
Avery Overlaminates and Avery Digital Print Media"
Please note that moisture resistance will be compromised by sewing and/or grommeting process or air
release during lamination
Always test your combination of Avery IPM medium, inkjet printer and inks prior to commercial use.
1) Test methods
More information about our test methods can be found on our website.
2) Durability
The durability is based on middle European exposure conditions. Actual performance life will depend on substrate preparation, exposure conditions and
maintenance of the marking. For instance, in the case of signs facing south; in areas of long high temperature exposure such as southern European
countries; in industrially polluted areas or high altitudes, exterior performance will be decreased.
