If you talk about <strong>systems</strong> in a mechanical <strong>locking</strong><br />

cylinder, you are first referring to the number<br />

of pin tumblers and other security codings. The<br />

profile of the system can be identified on the<br />

key’s long side. However, irrespective of the<br />

system and profile used, the <strong>IKON</strong> mechanical<br />

<strong>locking</strong> cylinder <strong>systems</strong> always <strong>for</strong>m a secure<br />

basis <strong>for</strong> high quality <strong>locking</strong> <strong>systems</strong>. They are<br />

available in four different versions and security<br />

classes; as System SK6 with vector profiles in<br />

security class 1 and 2, with multi-profiles and<br />

with a <strong>locking</strong> wave profile, which also features a<br />

so-called undercut. .<br />

A mechanical <strong>locking</strong> system is managed either<br />

hierarchically or centrally, depending on which<br />

access rules are to apply. In order to satisfy all<br />

conceivable <strong>requirement</strong>s, different hierarchical<br />

system and central <strong>locking</strong> system functions can<br />

also be combined in a single system.<br />

However, comprehensive key control can only<br />

be guaranteed in a system if, in addition to<br />

providing the necessary technical conditions,<br />

the operator ensures stringent key and <strong>locking</strong><br />

system management. The <strong>IKON</strong>IZER® II software<br />

makes this possible. It runs on all PCs using<br />

current Windows versions and in all common<br />

networks.<br />

The security card is your verification<br />

A security card is supplied with <strong>every</strong> <strong>IKON</strong> <strong>locking</strong><br />

system. It is used <strong>for</strong> verification purposes<br />

when re-ordering keys and <strong>locking</strong> cylinders<br />

from the manufacturer or requesting <strong>locking</strong><br />

system data and lock plans. It must be shown to<br />

the specialist retailer when re-ordering components<br />

from the factory. The security card and the<br />

related activities are there<strong>for</strong>e part of the range<br />

of services provided by the specialist retailer.<br />

The retailer will also take care of long-term maintenance<br />

of your <strong>locking</strong> system if required. If you<br />

wish to extend the system, the security card is<br />

The key profile in security class 1 features a very<br />

special layout which hinders manual unauthorised<br />

entry techniques considerably. Compared<br />

with standard key profiles, the vector profile in<br />

security class 1 also stands out due to its optimum<br />

protection against lock picking, scanning<br />

and decoding. The vector profile in security class<br />

2 features an additional coding on the key, which<br />

is read by extra b<strong>locking</strong> elements in the <strong>locking</strong><br />

cylinder. This type of control on the side of<br />

the key profile ensures there are more options<br />

regarding combining and managing <strong>systems</strong> and<br />

incorrect coding is used, the <strong>locking</strong> action will<br />

be blocked. An undercut is also milled into the<br />

key profile. This increases protection against<br />

Scanning protection refers to the degree of difficulty in<br />

surreptitiously ascertaining the tumbler <strong>locking</strong> codes in<br />

a <strong>locking</strong> cylinder, using suitable tools but without using<br />

undue <strong>for</strong>ce, in order to cut a duplicate key in accordance<br />

with the dimensions which have been revealed.<br />

∙∙Drilling protection<br />

<strong>IKON</strong> profile cylinders are fitted with<br />

drilling protection as standard. The<br />

hard metal pins used in the cylinder<br />

core and housing, <strong>for</strong> instance, prevent<br />

∙∙Special identification marking<br />

If required, <strong>locking</strong> cylinders and keys can be supplied<br />

with a special identification marking of your choice,<br />

consisting of up to eight digits.<br />

∙∙Locking elements<br />

The rotating core of the <strong>locking</strong> cylinder is locked<br />

from beneath and from the side by <strong>locking</strong> elements,<br />

e.g. spring loaded pins, in such a way that the <strong>locking</strong>/<br />

un<strong>locking</strong> action is only permitted if the correct key is<br />

used. The higher the number of pins and the more complex<br />

the arrangement of them is, the higher the security<br />

against unauthorised opening and against unauthorised<br />

key copying will be.There<strong>for</strong>e it is virtually impossible to<br />

open an <strong>IKON</strong> <strong>locking</strong> cylinder using lock picking tools or<br />

lock bumping.<br />
