Group Activity In groups of 4 - 8 students, use sidewalk chalk to draw a large, closed curve<br />
for each group. (The curves should take up an area at least 6’ by 6’.) Have one student walk along<br />
the curve, describing how their direction changes as they travel. Once comfortable with this, begin<br />
drawing tangent lines at many different points along the curve. It helps to have other students with<br />
yardsticks helping to align the tangent lines. Be careful about the placement of your feet, where your<br />
line of sight is, etc. (If you were very, very small, riding a unicycle, with a Pinochio-like nose pointed<br />
straight ahead of you, you would not need to worry quite so much about some of these larger scale<br />
issues.)<br />
