— COMMUNITY EVENTS —<br />
Through Dec. 31 St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center, the<br />
non-denominational adult day-training facility for adults with<br />
developmental disabilities, will host the annual Wings & Snow<br />
holiday exhibit this winter. Sophie’s Gallery artists have created a<br />
variety of fanciful winged creatures on pizza peels (paddles) using<br />
mosaic tiles, glass and repurposed objects in a non-traditional<br />
celebration of the holidays. Students have also created pizza<br />
box art and paper mache sculptures. Wings & Snow can be<br />
viewed at both Sophie’s Gallery locations. Sophie’s Gallery at<br />
NTC Liberty Station and Sophie’s Gallery in El Cajon. Sophie’s<br />
Gallery in El Cajon will hold a public reception from 5 - 8 p.m.<br />
on Dec. 16. (Hors d’oeuvres, wine and pizza courtesy of Mangia<br />

Dec. <strong>15</strong>: Spanish-themed Christmas show on the fiesta de<br />
Reyes stage at 10 a.m., performed by the students from Alpine’s<br />
Joan Mac Queen Middle School. The seventh and eighth grade<br />
students are in a first-year Spanish class as part of their Alpine<br />
School District pilot program called STEM, an acronym for<br />
Science-Technology-Engineering and Mathematics. The students<br />
are studying Spanish in order to begin cooperative Internet-based<br />
projects with students in South America this spring. The foreign<br />
students are learning English and both groups will be working<br />
on the same project, practicing both languages while learning<br />
about science, math, engineering, history, communication and<br />
technology. Admission to the concert is free. Fiesta de Reyes<br />
is located at Juan and Calhoun streets, a one-block stroll from<br />
the Old Town Trolley Station. In addition to the Casa de Reyes<br />
restaurant and Barra Barra Saloon, the plaza boasts 19 specialty<br />

Dec. 16-18: “A Christmas Tabernacle” The true meaning<br />
and spirit of Christmas will come alive this <strong>December</strong> with A<br />
Christmas Tabernacle. This family-friendly Christmas event<br />
celebrates the true Christmas season in its inaugural festival 11<br />
a.m. to 8 p.m., at NTC Liberty Station. Daily admission ranges<br />
from $12–$18, with multi-day passes also available. Tickets are<br />

Activities for the Whole Family — A Christmas Tabernacle will<br />
feature a wide range of activities and entertainment for family<br />

Dec. 18: UCCLM Presents “Tapestry of Light” - A Celtic<br />
Christmas Celebration. The Chancel Choir of the United<br />
Church of Christ of La Mesa (UCCLM) invites you to rejoice with<br />
them in the music of Christmas – traditional carols from the British<br />
Isles, angelic acclamations and delicate lullabies woven together<br />
with the scriptures and stories of the season into the wondrous<br />
“Tapestry of Light,” a cantata by Joseph M. Martin. A Celtic consort<br />
