What is a Doula?
A doula is a woman who provides continuous
physical, emotional, and informational
support, to the mother during the birth of her
child. The doula “mothers the mother” by
using continuous reassurance, coping
techniques, massage, aromatherapy, and
other methods before, during and just after
childbirth.
Why take this workshop?
This workshop will enhance the tools needed
to provide a team approach between healthcare
providers, nurses, and doulas to better
serve the mother.
When combined with the required readings
and program prerequisites, this workshop will
train women to provide support to childbearing
women and their families. Attending the
entire workshop will meet the contact hour
requirements for the Doulas of North America
(DONA) International birth doula certification.
