Linda M. Van Dyke (MUS ’85, MM ’94)
performs in the orchestra for the musical

Joseph Kerke (LAS MS ’87) recently
retired from a 31-year high school
chemistry teaching career. During his
career, he was awarded a DePaul-
Amoco Teacher Fellowship, a Woodrow
Wilson National Fellowship Foundation
grant to attend a high school chemistry
summer institute at Princeton University,
and an Andrew Mellon Foundation
grant to attend the Advanced Placement
Chemistry summer institute at Hope
College, Mich.
Jeffrey J. Kroll (COM ’87, JD ’90), a
partner at Clifford Law Offices, has been
elected a trustee of DePaul University.
Jacqueline A. Kuehl (COM ’87,
MBA ’95) created the Kuehl Marketing
Group in July 2006 to help businesses
achieve their marketing objectives.
Anna Marie Marassa (EDU ’87) was
inducted into the DePaul Athletic Hall
of Fame in 2007 both as a volleyball
student-athlete and Blue Demon coach.
Anna is the girls’ head volleyball coach
and assistant athletic director for De
La Salle Institute in Chicago.
Rachel M. Teresi (EDU ’87) has
accepted a new position as the featured
instructor at Oak Meadows Golf Club in
Addison, Ill. She played her first round
of golf at Oak Meadows, formerly the
Elmhurst Country Club, as a DePaul
student-athlete during a university event.
Leonard D. Davenport (MBA ’88)
joined Capitol Wealth as strategic
acquisitions director. He brings more
than 20 years of financial service
experience to this role.
Nick Marsico (COM ’88, JD ’91)
joined the law firm of Huck Bouma,
P.C., in Wheaton, Ill.
W. Earl Brown (MFA ’89) is Dan Dority
in the HBO series “Deadwood,” which
completed its third and final season. Earl
was nominated for a 2007 Writers Guild
of America Award for Dramatic Series
as one of the writers on Deadwood.
David C. Fuechtman (COM ’89) was
named co-head of the Wealth Planning
Practice Group at Reed Smith Sachnoff
Weaver. He is a partner in the firm’s
Chicago office.
Seth S. Jacobs (THE MFA ’89), an
associate professor in Boston College’s
history department, received tenure
in 2006. Jacobs’ first book, “America’s
Miracle Man in Vietnam,” won the
Bernath Prize for best work in the field
of diplomatic history. His second book,
“Cold War Mandarin,” was published in
late 2006. He and wife Devora (Miller)
Jacobs (THE ’89) have two daughters.
Michele M. Jochner (JD ’90, LLM ’92)
was recently elected recording secretary
of the Women’s Bar Association of
Illinois. In addition, she was named
secretary of the Board of Directors of the
Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's
Network.

Latasha R. Thomas (JD ’90) was
re-elected in February to a second full
term on the Chicago City Council,
receiving more than 66 percent of the
vote and defeating three challengers.
Latasha represents the 17th Ward.
Lucille D. Coleman (MS ’91) was
recently honored by People’s Voice,
a Lake County, Ill. newspaper, as one of
the Most Influential African Americans
in Lake County. She is a professor of
nursing at the College of Lake County
in Grayslake, Ill.
Anna Wermuth (LAS ’91) has been
promoted from associate to partner
in the employment and labor practice
at Chicago-based law firm Meckler
Bulger & Tilson LLP.
Michael A. Hawley (MBA ’93) was
promoted to senior vice president of
commercial lending at First Community
Bank of Elgin, Ill.
Heidi S. Hurst (LAS ’93) is the
statewide project coordinator for the
Nevada Immunization Coalition, which
works to promote health and decrease
the incidence of vaccine-preventable
diseases.
David Kovac (THE ’93) is the house
magician for Odyssey Cruise every
Sunday night at Navy Pier in Chicago.
David was one of five magicians
featured in a Chicago Tribune article
on Dec. 1, 2006.
Marty M. Raap (JD ’93) was promoted
to chief deputy prosecutor of the
Kootenai County, Idaho, prosecutor’s
office. He and wife Yvonne have two
children.
Daniel B. Shanes (JD ’93) was
appointed associate judge for the Lake
County, Ill., Circuit Court.
Joseph P. Lupo (COM ’94) is
co-founder of Visual Therapy, a luxury
lifestyle consulting firm in New York.
He has been seen on “The Oprah
Winfrey Show,” VH1 and The Fine
Living Network, and has been quoted in
major fashion and lifestyle publications.
Douglas M. Rue (CTI MS ’94) joined
Vanguard Managed Solutions (formerly
Motorola) as a senior systems engineer.
He has served as an adjunct instructor
at DeVry University in both Los Angeles
and Atlanta.
Catherine A. Bier (MBA ’95),
a realtor-associate with Smothers Realty
Group in La Grange, Ill., was named
top selling agent for 2006.

recently completed stunt-doubling
work for Will Ferrell in the feature film
“Blades of Glory.”

her doctor of education degree in
instructional technology from Northern
Illinois University in December 2006.

2007 Distinguished Alumna. The artistic
director of the Chicago Children's
Choir, she was named one of the 2006
Chicagoans of the Year by the Chicago
