Retreat Registration Sheet
It’s time register for the Fall 2011 Amazing Threads Retreat at Grandview Lodge in
Nisswa, Minnesota. We will return to our luxurious accommodations, 5 star dining
and a wonderful weekend of knitting with friends new and old.
Our retreat will begin on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. and continue until
3:00 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2011. We have a limited number of spaces
available for the retreat. As always, those who attended last year are given one
week’s notice for advance registration before registration is opened to all.
There are multiple components to the retreat weekend; Luxury accommodations and
great food; knitting with those who share your passion; & knitting the project
selected for this year’s retreat together. This year’s retreat promises to be the best
yet. We will meet to knit daily in the ballroom of the new Conference Center at
Grandview Lodge. We will enjoy great breakfasts, lunches, & dinners along with an
abundance of beverages and snacks. We will share our passion with those who call
themselves knitters as well.
Feedback from last year’s retreat participants has prompted changes I hope will
enhance the experience for all participants. Retreat participants will be required to
participate in one of two retreat projects. This year’s projects are diverse AND both
are exciting. Each was chosen in response to feedback. Both projects can be
completed by both beginner and skilled knitters. As long as you can knit, purl,
increase and decrease, the project(s) can be completed by new knitters. Participants
can choose between 2 projects. Each project utilizes different yarn and needles and
require different levels of commitment. Staff can provide yarn suggestions to
accommodate individual needs for either project.
Project 1: Custom Knit-to-Fit Sweater. I have designed a simple top-down sweater
which utilizes simple stitch patterns to create a “Sinful Sweater” that is knit on
chunky yarn and with my help will be customized to YOU. The pattern is being
tested and will be available by September 1. This sweater has been designed to
provide the knitter with a template to create a custom sweater. You can choose
sleeve and sweater length that best fits your style. The yarn options are endless. The
yarn used in the sample is Plymouth Merino Select Chunky. I hope to have a picture
available soon.
This project requires time with Bobbi so that measurements are exact. Knitters will
be able to begin their project prior to the retreat if they wish. However, due to the
custom nature of this project those wanting to knit “ahead” will need to come into
the shop before they start and cannot proceed without evaluation of fit once the
project reaches the bust section. Dates for 3 follow-up knit-alongs with Bobbi will be
scheduled by the date of the retreat.
Project 2: Manon by Ilga Leja is a wonderful wrap that hugs the shoulders and
makes a great statement. No lace knitting required. This fun wrap incorporates
short rows for shaping and ruching. It is worked from the long, upper edge down and
becomes a faster knit as you finish your project. The sample is knit in Fleece Artist

hand dyed Woolie-Silk 3 Ply. This project requires DK or worsted weight yarn and
the shop has many yarn options.
