From the <strong>Principal</strong>’s Office:<br />

I wanted to share a brief explanation of some upcoming<br />

fundraising efforts at ADGray. During the first two weeks of<br />

November, ADGray students will be selling t-shirts, cookie<br />

dough, and pies (any items ordered will be delivered in time for<br />

Christmas!). Each student is asked to sell at least one item. These<br />

funds, along with those from the magazine drive, support our end<br />

of year program, “Community Studies.” This very popular and<br />

successful program allows students to participate in community<br />

based learning both on and off school grounds. As I am sure you<br />

know, there are costs associated with this program, whether it be<br />

for transportation, materials or admission fees. Without this<br />

fundraising, Community Studies would have to be limited or<br />

eliminated entirely. I would like to close by thanking students and<br />

parents for their support of this fundraising project and the<br />

Community Studies Program that we are so proud of. If you have<br />

any questions related to fundraising or Community Studies,<br />

please contact us at the school (832-2106).<br />

Just a reminder to students that we do not recommend door-todoor<br />

fundraising. Please sell to family, friends, and neighbors!<br />

Bruce <strong>Robert</strong>s Toy Fund Applications are available in<br />

the ADGray office. Please note, the application<br />

deadline is October 23 rd ! Late applications will not<br />

guarantee assistance. Once applications have been<br />

filled out they must be mailed to Rebecca Ruggieri at<br />

280 Highland Rd., Warren, ME 04864. For more<br />

The ADGray PTO is sponsoring an auction<br />

scheduled for Saturday, November 3 with<br />

auctioneer, Larry Trueman. Money raised from<br />

the auction will benefit the 8 th grade class trip to<br />

Boston. To donate items for the auction, please<br />

contact Cindy Stevenson @ 832-9955 – please,<br />

only new or like new items. Also, food (bowls<br />

of stews/chowders, chili, biscuits/bread) will be<br />

available for purchase during the auction preview<br />

which begins at 5 p.m. with the auction<br />

scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the<br />

sale of the chili and chowders will benefit ADG<br />

Community Studies as well as other activities.<br />

To donate chili, stews, chowders, bread, or<br />

biscuits, etc. parents are asked to contact Deb<br />

Connolly at 832-6181 or Cindy Stevenson at<br />

832-9955. Please note: there is an auction<br />

planning meeting scheduled for Wednesday,<br />

Oct. 24 th at ADG beginning at 6 p.m. Parents<br />

are welcome and encouraged to attend!<br />

The Annual A.D.Gray Food Drive, which<br />

benefits the Waldoboro Food Bank and is<br />

sponsored by the student council, is<br />

scheduled to begin on Oct. 22. Donations<br />

will be collected by homebase and will be<br />

counted on Mondays, Wednesdays and<br />

Fridays, beginning Oct. 22 and continuing<br />

through Nov 14. Food donations will be<br />

delivered to the Food Bank on Nov. 15.<br />

Remember to bring in canned and/or<br />

boxed items, no perishable items and<br />

please, no items in glass jars. Keep in mind<br />

that many people don’t have enough food<br />

to eat and may also not have enough money<br />

to buy all of the items they need, so be<br />

generous, serve others and be a<br />

responsible citizen here at A.D.Gray<br />

Cross Country Results!<br />

The AD Gray Girls placed 3rd at the XC Championship Meet recently in Belfast. It was a close race for the top 3 finishers with<br />

only 11 points separating the lot. Camden placed first with 55 points, Rockland had 60 points and AD Gray came in 3 rd with a<br />

close 64 points. Leading for ADG was Mallory R. in 3rd place giving Rockland a fight for their title; Brittany A. made<br />

Lincolnville work hard, but gets them in the end with a 4th place finish. Kelsie G. and Mary C. placed 16th and 17th respectively<br />

squeezing out Camden; Elizabeth D. placed 24 th ; Dezarae M. placed 27th and Taylor P. finished in 44 th place.<br />

Due to illness and injury the boys did not have a full team. Alec B. headed out strong, but tripped up on a root and was not able to<br />

finish the race. Brody P. and Craig D. gave the 4-wheeler a workout and finished strong in 47th and 48th place.<br />

The DR Gaul XC coach complimented on ADG’s good sportsmanship and behavior during the season. He told us that we were<br />

the team that he had his team try to emulate. What a great compliment from one coach to another.....<br />

In the ADG Magazine Drive, overall sales<br />

totaled $3,983.00 with 193 orders turned in! The<br />

homeroom with the highest sales overall was<br />

Mrs. Durgin’s homeroom. They get to keep the<br />

“Traveling Weepul.” Congratulations to Isabelle<br />

L. who was the highest salesperson overall!<br />

Great Job!! Thank you to all who participated in<br />

this major fundraiser for our school.<br />

WBA Business Showcase<br />

From 5 – 7 pm on Friday, October 26, at<br />

Miller School, local businesses will present a<br />

festive and free, Business Showcase with<br />

displays and samples of their products and<br />

services. There will be refreshments, door<br />

prizes, and lots of interesting and<br />

informative booths showing off what our<br />

community has to offer. Visitors will have a<br />

chance to meet local owners and managers<br />

and check-out what they have to offer.<br />

You’re almost sure to find a product or<br />

service you didn’t know about. AND, you<br />

get to vote on the best-decorated pumpkin<br />

submitted from each company. It’s free, it’s<br />

The Medomak Valley Winter Youth Boys Basketball program will<br />

run from November 3, 2007 to January 19, 2007. On November<br />

3 rd there will be a boys basketball clinic at MVHS: grades 3-4 will<br />

run from 8-9:30 a.m. and grades 5-6 will run from 10-11:30 a.m.<br />

On November 10 th there ill be a boys clinic at Warren Community<br />

School: grades 3-4 will run from 12-1:30 p.m. and grades 5-6 will<br />

run from 2-3:30 p.m. Games will begin on November 17 th (3/4<br />

grade league and 5/6 grade league). Championship games,<br />

awards, and LOTS OF FUN! The cost is $25 per participant. Please<br />
