Water Care System

Don’t Forget!
Your spa needs to be drained
every 3-6 months. (this can
vary depending on usage)
The filters must be cleaned
every four weeks in the Baqua
Filter Cleaner.
Always have your clean cycle
running (or run jets for 10
minutes) when you are adding
water care products to the
spa water.
Startup
Bring a water sample to the store for an accurate computerized water
analysis. This will give you a detailed report of the balance of the water
and give the proper products and amounts need to start your spa up right.
Baqua Spa recommends all spas be treated with metal control before
starting regular maintenance. Metals can have an adverse affect when
coming in contact with the Baqua Products line. Initial dosage of Metal
Control is 1 oz. per 150 gal.
~Initial Dosage for water line control is 1-1/2 oz. per 150 gal. (Double the
weekly dosage).
~Initial dosage of Oxidizer is 3 oz. per 150 gal.
~Initial Dosage of Sanitizer with Stain and Scale is 1 oz. per 150 gal
Weekly Procedure
1. Test water weekly with the test strips provided in your water care start-up kit. To test
accurately, use a clean cup or glass to pull water out of the spa. With the cup turned upside
down, go down about elbow depth into the water, turn the cup or glass up and pull from the
water. Once of the water give a small flick of the wrist to remove surface water from cup or
glass. Dip the strip into the cup or glass of spa water for one second then pull out of the water
tapping it once on the side of the water container, then lay the strip face up on a flat surface for
30 seconds. After 30 seconds check your readings on the side of the test strip bottle.
2. Check your Total Alkalinity reading. If you are between 125-150ppm, then you are within
tolerance and can proceed to step 3. If you are out of balance follow the charts below to
determine what to add to correct the Total Alkalinity.
100ppm 5 oz. 6 ½ oz. 10 oz. 13 oz. 16 oz.
120ppm 6 oz. 8 oz. 12 oz. 16 oz. 20 oz.
Example: If your water tests at 80ppm in Total Alkalinity then your Total Alkalinity is too low. To determine how much
you need to increase your Total Alkalinity, subtract your reading from the proper level (125-80=45). In this case you
need to raise the Total Alkalinity 45ppm. Find 45ppm on the chart used for increasing Total Alkalinity (in some cases
you may have to use the closest number. In this case you would use 40ppm). Once you find the number (40ppm)
follow the number across the chart, under gallons you will find how many ounces of product to add to make
adjustments.
Please note: Any adjustments made to Total Alkalinity will change your pH readings. Your strip will no longer be
accurate. Please wait 1 hour and retest to make sure your pH is in balance, make any necessary adjustments to pH
then, using charts below.
3. If and/or when Total Alkalinity is in balance, check pH reading and adjust as necessary, using
charts below. The pH should read between 7.4-7.6ppm.
To Raise pH
Use pH Increaser
7.8 1/8 oz. 1/8 oz. 3/8 oz. ½ oz. 5/8 oz.
When using the above charts you go by the actual reading on the strip. If your pH is at 8.2, you would find 8.2 on the
chart, follow the cart across under gallons and find the correct amount of product to add. In this case it would be 2
oz of pH Decreaser.
4. Add weekly maintenance products using chart below.
These products can be added one right after the other without waiting. Wait 30 minutes before adding Sanitizer.
