Panicum hemitomon. Propagated by direct increase of<br />

vegetative material. A coarse robust and gregarious<br />

bulrush from tight sub- rhizomatous knots. Usually from 9<br />

feet tall in plantings. Stems stout, obtusely 3-angled.<br />

Leaves few, basil. 50-150 spikelets. Anticipated use<br />

constructed wetland systems of southeastern U.S.<br />

composite of 9019880/9019881. other id: HEFU. remarks:<br />

Selected by comparative evaluation from broad based<br />

collection in 1960 f s-1970's. Selected for attractive and<br />

vigorous blooms. Differs from most daylilies by<br />

displaying bright orange floral parts. Increased by<br />

direct vegetative propagation. Glabrous, herbaceous<br />

scapose, stoloniferons. Leaves linear, 3-6 decimeters<br />

long, 1.5cm wide, erect 5.5dm to 9dm tall, with 1-2<br />

bracteal leaves near the summit, forked into 2 bracteate<br />

racemes. Pedicels 5-21mm long, flowers perfect, Perianth<br />

orange up to 10-12cm across, fruit fails to develop.<br />

Roadside and const, wetland beautification. Cultivated.<br />
