To be an effective Rotary leader, you need to know something about Rotary
and the Rotary Leadership Institute provides an excellent interactive means
for Rotarians with leadership potential to gain that knowledge and
leadership
development in a discussion-based environment. It provides an entirely new
way to satisfy a need that exists in clubs and districts for Rotarians to gain skills in leading
project teams, committees and management groups thus enhancing Rotary’s ability to
provide service to the community.
• What is RLI? A fun, interactive, hands-on series of courses designed to provide Rotary
knowledge and develop leadership skills. There are three day-long parts that may be taken
at the participant’s pace, ideally over a year.
• Who can come to RLI courses? Each Rotary club should nominate prospective club
leaders annually for the RLI program. Districts can also nominate participants. A nominated
Rotarian may attend any RLI event scheduled in any district with the prior agreement of the
host district RLI Chair.
• Why? Rotary club and district leadership changes every year. Success in clubs and districts
depends on the quality of the leadership pool available. These key future leaders are
exposed to new ideas, meet like-minded enthusiastic Rotarians, learn and bring back the
excitement of Rotary service!
