Award. This honor is a testament to your determination and commitment to<br />

excellence, and I hope you take pride in your accomplishment.<br />

Nothing is more important to our Nation’s long-term success than preparing<br />

our future leaders for the world they will inherit. We face great challenges as a<br />

country, and we will need young people like you to take up these challenges<br />

Jerry Lademan Senior Athletic Award<br />

Each year, two senior athletes - one male and one female - are selected as the<br />

recipients of the Jerry Lademan Senior Athlete Award. Jerry was a 1971<br />

graduate of <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> who was a straight "A" student, a three-sport athlete<br />

and an exemplary young man, who died tragically in an auto accident after his<br />

sophomore year at Fairfield University. Jerry embodies all that we hope a<br />

<strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> student to be. Each year, the Jerry Lademan Senior Athlete Award<br />

is presented to the male and female athlete who most clearly exhibit Jerry's<br />

outstanding character traits. This year's recipients of this prestigious award<br />

are:<br />

Armand R. Fabbri <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> Award<br />

Armand Fabbri, former Superintendent of <strong>School</strong>s for the Diocese of<br />

Bridgeport, devoted more than 30 years to <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> as teacher, coach,<br />

department head, librarian, assistant principal and principal. Armand Fabbri,<br />

perhaps more than any other person exemplifies the spirit and tradition of<br />

<strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>. The recipient of this award is<br />

Robert J. Christy, Sr. Memorial Baseball Scholarship<br />

Robert Christy was a great supporter of <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> <strong>Catholic</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> and<br />

its athletic program. The father of English teacher, the late Mrs. Carole Surina<br />

and grandfather of Dean of Students, History teacher and baseball coach, Mr.<br />

Kevin Philipp, Mr. Christy passed away three years ago.<br />

Mr. Christy loved sports, especially baseball. He believed in showing up every<br />

day to play and work hard, leading by example. Family, loyalty, respect and a<br />

sense of humor were important to him. When faced with adversity, he didn’t<br />

give up; it made him stronger. He was a gentleman on and off the field. The<br />

scholarship is awarded to a senior member of the Varsity Baseball team who<br />

best exemplify those qualities.<br />

The John A. and Mary Behuncik Heritage Scholarship for an outstanding<br />

student of Slovak background is awarded to<br />

The James and Eva Fahey Scholarship for an outstanding student displaying<br />

strong academics, leadership and citizenship is presented to<br />

Maura McCabe<br />

The Thomas Carroll Appalachia Award<br />

At the end of this month, a group of 36 students will be participating in <strong>Notre</strong><br />

<strong>Dame</strong>'s nineteenth annual service trip to Appalachia. Of the 36 students, 24 are<br />

members of the Class of 2010 --- and a remarkable eleven seniors will be<br />

making their third trip to help the people of Kentucky. At this time, I would<br />

like to recognize these eleven outstanding seniors who fulfill and live the<br />

mission of <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>:<br />

The Val Rossetti Memorial Scholarship is presented to a Senior who plans a<br />

career in the field of Business. The recipients this year are<br />

Jessica Miner Scholarship -<br />

Jessica Miner, a member of the Class of 1998, died twelve years ago. In her<br />

memory, her parents, Nancy and James Miner, have established a scholarship<br />

to be awarded annually to a graduating senior who plans a career in the health<br />

field.<br />

This scholarship is in honor of both Jessica and Mrs. Patricia Land, <strong>Notre</strong><br />

<strong>Dame</strong>’s former school nurse, for her efforts on behalf of Jessica and the Miner<br />

family.<br />

This year, the scholarship is presented to<br />

Jennifer Pereira<br />

Fred J. Moriarity Jr. of the Class of '81 passed away suddenly on November 25,<br />

1991. Fred was a man of compassion, care, sensitivity and love. In his memory<br />

and honor, <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> has endowed a memorial scholarship with financial<br />

assistance to be given to a member of the <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> football team. The<br />

recipient is<br />

Aaron Johnson<br />

The Ernest Errichetti Scholarship was created to recognize the devotion of<br />

alumni parents Maria and Daniel Errichetti, to the needs of special children.<br />

The family of Maria and Daniel Errichetti established this scholarship and<br />

dedicated it to their brother Ernest who taught his family about true caring,<br />

humility, patience, and about giving back to those less fortunate.<br />

The Errichetti Family is pleased to present this scholarship to<br />

Ruth Alicea<br />

who embodies Maria and Daniel’s ideals and values and who has shown<br />

through her many accomplishments that family, community, and personal<br />

excellence are values most import to her. The Errichetti family wishes Ruth<br />

the best of success as she starts off on her future path.


Charlotte Ebling Memorial Scholarship – Charlotte Ebling, a former teacher at<br />

<strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>, loved life and the things that really mattered: her family, her<br />

friends and her students. She tried to make the most of her God-given talents,<br />

and in doing so, left us with a lifetime of memories to cherish, share and<br />

reflect upon. In tribute to her beautiful life and to her outstanding service to<br />

<strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>, a scholarship in her memory is presented to<br />

Lauren Cosgrove<br />

Anthony Magliocco Scholarship<br />

On January 6, 1997, the <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> family suffered a great loss. Anthony<br />

Magliocco, a 1994 graduate, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Those<br />

who knew Anthony are better people because of it. Anthony was a leader to<br />

those around him. He affected more lives in his 20 years than most people<br />

would in 100 years. He truly was an angel on earth. If you didn’t know him,<br />

take a minute and talk to his friends and family, you’ll see that a piece of<br />

Anthony lives in each of them.<br />

A scholarship has been established in the name of Anthony Magliocco. Each<br />

year, a graduating Senior from <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> will receive this award. The<br />

recipient of this award demonstrates strength in 3 areas:<br />

• Academics – a consistent record of achievement in all disciplines<br />

• Family – an appreciation of where you come from<br />

• And most importantly, the recipient of this award will demonstrate<br />

loyalty, honesty and compassion – or, in other words FRIENDSHIP.<br />

This year, the Anthony Magliocco Scholarship is presented to<br />

Jessica Ormrod<br />

The Alice A. Zembrzuski Scholarship has been created to honor a graduating<br />

<strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> Senior. The student who is awarded this scholarship will excel<br />

not only in academics, but must display outstanding character and leadership<br />

abilities including community service during his or her <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> years.<br />

Frank Carrano Award<br />

On July 25, 1999, the <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> community suffered a sudden loss with the<br />

death of Frank Carrano IV, a member of the Class of 1999. Frank’s mark will<br />

be forever with us – from the image of his smiling face, to his outgoing<br />

personality and his positive outlook, to his ability and desire to enjoy life to its<br />

fullest. Frank will further be remembered for his love for Hockey and<br />

Lacrosse and as tri-captain of the 1998-99 State Championship Ice Hockey<br />

Team. Frank impacted so many lives and the memory of #66 will always be<br />

with us.<br />

A scholarship has been established in his name and each year a graduating<br />

senior hockey player or players will receive this award. Recipients must meet<br />

the following criteria:<br />

• Has a strong desire to accomplish a goal<br />

• Has a passion to compete and win in athletic events<br />

• Has a compassion for friends<br />

• Is spirited and team oriented<br />

• A solid academic record<br />

This year, the Frank Carrano Scholarship is awarded to<br />

Kevin Bettini<br />

Michaela Cooper Award<br />

Michaela Cooper was a special friend and loyal supporter of <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong><br />

during her life. She did much to encourage students to attend our school. Her<br />

dedication and faithfulness will always be remembered. In her memory <strong>Notre</strong><br />

<strong>Dame</strong> presents an award to<br />

Kim Wickert Donnelly Scholarship<br />

Kim graduated from <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> in 1970.<br />

In Kim’s memory, the Class of 1970 presents a scholarship award to a young<br />

woman who best exemplifies Kim Donnelly’s quiet leadership, love of family<br />

and her creative, gentle spirit. Her optimistic attitude allowed her to enjoy life<br />

and the family and friends around her. The recipient is<br />

Bob Shea Scholarship<br />

Bob Shea arrived at <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong> more than 30 years ago. During these years,<br />

he dedicated himself to <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>. There was no job too small or large for<br />

Bob. He gave endless hours to enhance the financial and educational status of<br />

our school. He loved <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>! Bob died on February 18, 2000. The <strong>Notre</strong><br />

<strong>Dame</strong> community owes Bob Shea so much-<br />

Carole Christy Surina Memorial Scholarship<br />

Carole Christy Surina was a dedicated educator and member of the <strong>Notre</strong><br />

<strong>Dame</strong> English Department for 31 years and Chairperson of the English and<br />

Social Studies Departments. Carole passed away in April of this year.<br />

Carole was a great supporter of everything that was <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>: academics,<br />

the athletic and service programs and the arts. She held a strong work ethic,<br />

was a great leader and was well respected by her peers. She possessed a love<br />

of learning and sharing that love with others. She had a wonderful sense of<br />

humor; she was understanding and respectful. She most valued her family,<br />

her friends and her religion and was fiercely loyal to all of them. She was<br />

supportive and always quick to offer encouragement to others. Carole Surina<br />

was a woman who displayed courage, strength and class when faced with a<br />

difficult situation. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who<br />

best exemplifies her qualities.<br />

Each year, it is our distinct pleasure to honor parents or guardians who<br />

parents or guardians who have no other children at <strong>Notre</strong> <strong>Dame</strong>. We are<br />
