How to apply<br />

Study Abroad<br />

1. Complete the International Student<br />

Application for Study Abroad or<br />

Incoming Exchange Program available<br />

at the back <strong>of</strong> this study guide or<br />

download from www.uq.edu.au/<br />

international/forms<br />

2. Attach all required documentation,<br />

including:<br />

– an up-to-date <strong>of</strong>ficial academic<br />

transcript in English<br />

– pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> English language<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>iciency, if applicable.<br />

3. Submit your application to one <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following places:<br />

– UQ’s Study Abroad Office (refer to<br />

address below)<br />

– your home institution’s Study<br />

Abroad Office (if your home<br />

institution has a Study Abroad<br />

agreement with UQ), or<br />

– one <strong>of</strong> UQ’s authorised<br />

representatives (location/contact<br />

details online at www.uq.edu.au/<br />

international/edureps).<br />

Incoming Exchange<br />

1. Complete the International Student<br />

Application for Study Abroad or<br />

Incoming Exchange Program available<br />

at the back <strong>of</strong> this study guide or<br />

download from<br />

www.uq.edu.au/international/forms<br />

2. Attach all required documentation,<br />

including:<br />

– an up-to-date <strong>of</strong>ficial academic<br />

transcript in English<br />

– pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> English language<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>iciency, if applicable<br />

– a letter from your home university<br />

nominating you for an exchange.<br />

3. Submit your application to the<br />

Exchange Office at your home<br />

institution.<br />

Application<br />

closing dates<br />

Study Abroad<br />

You should apply at least three months<br />

before the start <strong>of</strong> semester to allow time for<br />

administration and student visa processing.<br />

UQ recommends that you submit your<br />

application by no later than March 31 if<br />

applying for Semester 2 admission; and<br />

October 31 <strong>of</strong> the previous year if applying for<br />

Semester 1 admission.<br />

Incoming Exchange<br />

If you are applying for an Incoming<br />

Exchange, you should check with your<br />

home institution for application closing<br />

dates. Applications must be received by<br />

UQ no later than February 28 if applying for<br />

Semester 2 admission; and September 30<br />

<strong>of</strong> the previous year if applying for Semester<br />

1 admission.<br />

Documentation required<br />

Please do not send original documents.<br />

Please submit copies certified by a Justice<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Peace, a Notary Public (i.e. a<br />

practising solicitor) or similar government<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficial in your country, or by one <strong>of</strong> The<br />

<strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Queensland</strong>’s authorised<br />

representatives<br />

(www.uq.edu.au/international/edureps).<br />

If awaiting transcripts or current results,<br />

you may submit your completed application<br />

with whatever academic transcripts you<br />

have available. You should then forward any<br />

outstanding transcripts to UQ’s International<br />

Admissions Section as soon as you receive<br />

them. Please ensure that all documents are<br />

clearly marked with your UQ Student ID (if<br />

available), family name, first name, date <strong>of</strong><br />

birth, anticipated program, and a notation<br />

that an application has already been<br />

submitted.<br />

Visas<br />

If you are applying to study in Australia,<br />

you will require a student visa.<br />

Application for and processing <strong>of</strong> student<br />

visas can take several months and there is<br />

an application fee.<br />

For all visa inquiries and applications,<br />

please contact your local Australian<br />

Embassy, High Commission or Diplomatic<br />

Mission. It is your responsibility to ensure<br />

that you have received your visa in sufficient<br />

time to start your studies at UQ by the<br />

commencement date <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fer.<br />
