Dear members,
After a very successful 2013/2014
financial year we are looking forward
to continuing the progress made in
strengthening the Club’s financial position,
while maintaining quality facilities. All
the numbers have showed a healthy
increase compared to the previous year,
including income from golf rounds played,
overall facility utilisation and increased
membership numbers. Unfortunately
the Club cannot escape the effects of
increased fuel prices and the weakening
rand. Operational costs are ever-increasing
particularly on the golf course maintenance
programme, where a lot of imported
goods and materials are used. Every effort
is being made to manage these increased
costs without compromising the quality of
facilities.
We have been fortunate to get approval
for a number of important capital projects
for the new financial year, of which the
parking expansion, men’s golf locker rooms
upgrade, Vodacom room refurbishment and
the repairs to the service road alongside
to the 18th hole will be the most notable.
On the IT side I am glad to report that our
website is in the process of getting a new
look and feel that will include simplifying a
number of functions on the website.
The Club events calendar kicked off with
the first gourmet dinner of the year. The
evening had a “harvest table” theme,
and was co-hosted by Saronsberg wines
on Valentine’s night. The event was a
resounding success, and served as the
perfect prelude to a number of exciting
events planned for the year ahead. Apart
from some old favourite events scheduled
such as the Beyerskloof Snoekbraai, new
events such as the Flavours of Tshwane
and the CWG pre-auction tasting can be
looked forward too. Most of the advertising
and notifications of the events are done
through electronic media, and members
are requested to ensure that your correct
contact details are listed at the Club.
In terms of ongoing Continuous Betterment
strategy, some of the key areas and
processes identified for 2014/2015 will
include the improvement and streamlining
of the membership application process,
as well as a full review and benchmarking
project of the Club’s subscription fees and
structures. This is important from a strategic
point of view to ensure that the Club stays
at the forefront of industry trends, and takes
the lead where possible.
