PROTECTION AT ICY ALTITUDES
HIGH MOUNTAIN RANGES – A DREAM WORLD OF ICE AND SNOW, AND FAR TOO BEAUTIFUL TO RISK BECOMING SNOW
BLIND. THE MODELS FROM ALPINA’S GLACIER LINE PROVIDE PERFECT PROTECTION AT ICY ALTITUDES.
At high altitudes in the mountains, UV radiation clearly increases. In addition, snow and ice produce dangerous reflections of the rays. The filtering
function of the atmosphere is reduced while the risk of sunburn rises – also for the eyes. Yes, the intensity of ultraviolet and infrared radiation
drastically increases and may lead to burns of the cornea and conjunctiva similar to sunburn of the skin. This “sunburn of the eyes” is called
snow blindness. That’s why special protection is required at high elevations. The CERAMIC-MIRROR lenses by ALPINA with the highest protection
level, S4, effectively filter damaging infrared rays. The SIDE-PROTECTION feature of all Glacier line glasses provides additional protection against
scattered light entering from the side. This makes them indispensable companions on any skiing or mountain hiking tour at high altitudes.
