At high altitudes in the mountains, UV radiation clearly increases. In addition, snow and ice produce dangerous reflections of the rays. The filtering
function of the atmosphere is reduced while the risk of sunburn rises – also for the eyes. Yes, the intensity of ultraviolet and infrared radiation
drastically increases and may lead to burns of the cornea and conjunctiva similar to sunburn of the skin. This “sunburn of the eyes” is called
