Winter Services
• Statutory duty on the council under the Roads (Scotland)
Act 1984.
• This duty is developed in a policy which is reviewed every
August by Infrastructure Services Committee.
• Prioritises the council’s resources to maximise the benefit
to the travelling public by established hierarchy of routes
for treatment (roads and footways) based on usage;
classification of road; and local services needs such as
retail areas; health care; public transport; schools; school
transport routes.
• In accordance with national Code of Practice and
benchmarked against other councils.
• 1800km of roads; 800km of footways.
