Exhibition Brochure

“Together, a global network of chambers can
realize hopes and tackle problems much
more effectively than if individual chambers
tried to survive alone. The World Chambers
Congress strengthens regional and global
ties among chamber leaders. We should
build on these ties and forge a powerful
united global force. With our worldwide
commitment to the network, chambers can
play an important role in the sound and
sustainable development of the world
economy.”
Gerard Worms
Chairman, International Chamber of
Commerce
“Chambers work tirelessly to address
contemporary challenges facing business
today. Only by working together, can we
make sure that chambers of commerce from
all parts of the world share and benefit from
each other’s skills and knowledge strengthen
this incredible international and brand called
a ‘chamber of commerce.’”
Rona Yircali
Chair, ICC World Chambers Federation
“We must convince our members that if local
businesses want to grow, their horizons must
grow. This World Chambers Congress plays a
crucial role in gearing up chambers of
commerce to satisfy and go beyond the new
needs of business.
It increases global unity between chambers,
opening new channels of dialogue,
strengthening our services and the impact of
our network.”
Peter Mihok
Deputy Chair, ICC World Chambers
Federation
“Qatar Chamber supports the noble aims of
the International Chamber of Commerce and
the World Chambers Federation in striving
We are honoured to host this prestigious
The State of Qatar proudly welcomes the ICC WCF 8th World Chambers
Congress to be held in Doha from 22 to 25 April 2013.
ICC WCF 8TH WORLD CHAMBERS CONGRESS
Organized biennially by the ICC World Chambers Federation (WCF), the World
Chambers Congress is the only international forum for chamber of commerce leaders
to share experiences and best practices, exchange insights, develop networks and
address the current business issues affecting their communities.
This event assembles the global community of more than 12,000 chambers of
commerce held for the first time in the Middle East, Qatar will host the 8th World
Chambers Congress from 22- 25 April 2013.
Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry is committed to making this Congress a
voice for the Middle East and the developing world. As such, we will invite and fund 50
chambers of commerce from the world’s least developed nations to participate,
thereby giving them a voice for the first time in this high profile global event.
QATAR, THE RIGHT PLACE
With an estimated real GDP of US$ 79 Billion in 2010 and a population of 1.6 Million,
Qatar is one of the richest countries in the world with one of the highest GDP per
capita. Backed by a robust base of hydrocarbon resources, the economy has grown at
a yearly rate of 16% from 2007 to 2010.
Even before the awarding of the right to host FIFA World Cup 2022, the Qatari
government’s commitment to build a world- class infrastructure, resulted in a robust
growth of infrastructure projects. Over the next decade, Qatar will invest billions in
various infrastructure projects relating to the development of its road and rail networks
and football stadiums to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 as well as Qatar’s global
infrastructure including hotels, car parks, buildings, safety systems, and all other urban
infrastructures.
The Gulf area boom and projects related to electricity interconnection, railway, roads
and harmonisation of the regional infrastructures will provide exhibitors with a unique
opportunity to share their offers with GCC representatives and decision makers
participating in the 8th World Chambers Congress, Doha 2013.
Qatar is home to the country's largest oil and gas companies, including Qatar
Petroleum, Qatargas and RasGas. Doha's economy is built on the revenue the country
has made from its oil and natural gas industries, and the Qatari government is rapidly
trying to diversify the Qatari economy in order to move away from this dependence on
oil entering new industries such as infrastructure, finance and technology. As a result,
Qatar is currently experiencing a boom, with the city developing rapidly.
