Chinese Tourism – accept the China UnionPay credit card
In April 2013 the Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell travelled to Hong Kong and
China in an effort to begin to increase Chinese visitors to South Australia from
18,000 to 57,000, growing the economic benefit they bring to $450 million by
2020.
Chinese visitors love what SA has to offer and we want the increasing number
of visitors to feel at home. One way in which you can attract Chinese visitors to
your store is by accepting the China UnionPay credit card. For more than 700
million card holders, quite often, the only method of payment in Australia is with
cash or a UnionPay card.
National Australia Bank facilities already accept UnionPay and Commonwealth
Bank facilities will be compatible from July 2013. If you are with a
non-compatible bank, NAB can lease terminals for a monthly fee of $40.
For any further information please do not hesitate to contact the South
Australian Tourism Commission on 8463 4500.
