Signalling a new
era in radio detection
Naturally, the primary role of fire protection is to
guard over the people and assets within a building.
But there may be times when it’s paramount to protect the
building and business itself from the damage, upheaval
and losses that an installation of a wired fire alarm system
might cause – such as hotels or listed public buildings.
Similarly, cable installation isn’t always easy with modern
constructions and the physical difficulty or labour charges
associated may prohibit a conventional approach.
Radio-based communications represent an alternative
to wired systems. The detector, manual call point,
conventional panel and interface module package offers
an opportunity to install a complete radio-based system,
or integrate it as an extension to an existing wired system.
Stand-alone or integrated options
Radio-based communications offer total flexibility. If it’s
a 100% radio solution that’s required, a conventional
panel with 2 zones is available to support up to 32
devices. If an existing installation is being extended
however, the radio devices integrate seamlessly with the
Series 200 plus addressable family through an analogue
gateway on the intelligent loop. The gateway acts as the
communications conduit between the radio devices and
analogue panel of the wired system. Each radio device
has its own address which is converted to an address on
the wired panel through the gateway.
Multiple communication channels
Security and integrity of the communications is paramount
in any radio solution. To this end our system complies with
the R+TTE Directive 1999/5/EC and EN300 220-1 and EN300
220-2 by communicating across 24 bi-directional channels
in total; 20 channels at 434Mhz with 75kHz separation and
4 channels at 868Mhz with 150kHz separation. Automatic
frequency channel-through-channel monitoring guarantees
robust communications between the module and all
devices. This level of radio communications is approved to
VdS ‘B Standard’.
All the integrity and benefits
call point, loop communications module
and conventional panel
• Support for up to 32 devices in 2 zones in
a conventional system
• Up to 99 radio detectors and 98 radio
call points per loop in an analogue system
System Sensor’s radio communications package comprises four main components – the M500RFE-AS translator interface module for
connectivity to the analogue loop, the M400RFE-AS conventional panel, the 2100RFE-AS radio thermal enhanced photo detector and
radio manual call points. Security and integrity of communications through certification to the most stringent third party approval of
VdS ‘B Standard’.
