What’s LEAP? 

LEAP is a 3- stage leadership development programme by 

DSD with collaboration with stakeholders in SP


Mission 

DSD, in collaboration with SP Academic schools, to play a 

leading role in providing Holistic Education to our students

• To plant the seeds of leadership awareness to potential 

student leaders. 

• 3 levels allows for a progressive and selective student 

leadership route.

To be willing! - Potential students welcomed into the 

Programme are willing participants who are keen to sow the 

seeds of leadership awareness. 

To know & to apply! – Continuing students are given more 

depth into leadership education and opportunities in diverse 

and applied settings. 

To experience & to be! – Graduating students embark on a 

self discovery journey


1) Foundation Programme – To be willing! 

Objectives 

•Cover identification, trainings, workshops, support & guidance to 

plant seeds of leadership awareness. 

•Incorporated into 5 Day camp setting. Workshop in evenings by content 

experts. Discussion and reflections included. 

Audience 

•Identified potential CCA / Class 

leaders / SPOT / Scholars & 

Interested SP students. 

Implementation Plans 

•Based on the number of 

participants, >1 run of the 

programme targeted during the 2 nd 

term vacation period.

2)Intermediate Programme– To know & to apply! 

Objectives 

•Students will embark on “experiences” eg. outdoor camp expedition, 

arts/drama experience, culinary experiences, and community service experience. 

• Identified continuing students to take on leadership positions in CCA 

/ Class. 

Audience 

•Continuing students from 

Foundation year. 


•Depending on the experiences the 

students will embark, intermediate 

programme will be during the 

vacation period.

Advanced Level– To experience & to be! 

Objectives 

•Remaining graduating students to embark on self-driven “discoveries” 

• play a leading and mentoring role to their juniors in various activities 

and areas. 

Audience 

•Graduating students of LEAP 


•Pioneers and learning as they are going 

– These students will be mentors, 

leaders and co-facilitators for the 

foundation programme assisted by staff.

Resources and support 

• Collaboration with CCAs / Academic club advisors / 

lecturers of content experts / CASS (SPOT & Scholars) and all 

other interested SP Staff. Facilitation trainings will be 

provided. 

• Schools can support LEAP@SP by identifying and 

encouraging: 

• suitable lecturers to join as facilitators, trainers and 

content experts. 

• students to join


Pilot Plan 

• First group is with School of Chemical & Life Sciences in 

March 2011. 

• Smaller number of participants for a start
