Cocktails are alcoholic mixed drinks, which are usually a mix and match
concoction of at least two different liqueurs or spirits. It is often described as
a mixes drink taken before a meal, a stimulant to the appetite and an aid to
digestion. It can be all those things, but it is infinitely more as well.
When mixing today’s cocktails we often try to achieve a balanced
and homogeneous mix of ingredients without there necessarily being a single
‘base’ to any drink.. They have enjoyed an enormous revival in fashion in
recent years, with many exciting new cocktail bars opening.
Because there are so many conflicting definitions of the cocktail, it is perhaps
best to move to a description of the three categories into which modern
cocktails fall. There are three internationally recognized styles of cocktails::

Cocktails
Pre-dinner cocktails
Pre-dinner cocktails are
those acidic or dry drinks
mixed using tart
ingredients, such as lemon
juice, which are intended to
refresh the plate and act as
an aperitif before a meal.
After-dinner cocktails
Drinks made using more
creamy ingredients fit into
the after-dinner category.
They tend to be richer in
texture, and they are
frequently quiet sweet.
Long drink cocktails
The long drinks cocktails
are those served in
Highball glass, often over
ice. They are frequently
fruity and are ‘softened’
with a generous
proportion of fruits juice,
soft drinks and milk.

Sloe Comfortable Screw

The 1970s idea of a joke in the drink’s
According to historian Barry Popik, the
bartender there, a certain Troy
Alexander, created his eponymous
bartender created the drink
to honor Philadelphia pitcher Grover
Cleveland Alexander.
