ITT’s offshore watermakers are popular with many operators in<br />

remote West Africa because they provide a reliable source of water.<br />

Over 50 RO watermakers are currently used on drilling plat<strong>for</strong>ms<br />

<strong>and</strong> floating storage sites. C’treat’s FD30 RO watermaker has a<br />

freshwater capacity of 10,039 GPD (38 M 3 /D) <strong>and</strong> is commonly<br />

used on offshore plat<strong>for</strong>ms in the Kizomba A <strong>and</strong> B areas.<br />

Shetl<strong>and</strong>s, North Atlantic<br />

Ch<strong>and</strong>ler, Arizona<br />

ITT watermakers are found in the most inhospitable<br />

places, such as the Shetl<strong>and</strong> Isl<strong>and</strong>s, 400 miles from<br />

the Arctic Circle. This is no place <strong>for</strong> unreliable<br />

equipment, which might be why a C’treat’s model<br />

CFD301-5 watermaker capable of producing 12,417<br />

GPM (47 M 3 /D) was specified <strong>for</strong> Clair Field. These<br />

hard working units bear the CE mark <strong>and</strong> are certified.<br />

The treatment scheme contains aerated lagoons<br />

followed by a settling lagoon prior to discharge.<br />

At times of high algae growth, it exceeded the<br />

discharge limits <strong>for</strong> TSS <strong>and</strong> BOD.<br />

After adding additional aeration, an MBBR<br />

nitrification process <strong>and</strong> an ITT Leopold Clari-<br />

DAF system, the effluent has annually averaged<br />

1.9 mg/L of BOD. <strong>and</strong> 6.9 mg/L of TSS.<br />

The Ch<strong>and</strong>ler Airport <strong>Water</strong> Reclamation Facility<br />

consisted of four ITT Leopold tertiary filters, totaling<br />

1,560 square feet. In 2003 the plant exp<strong>and</strong>ed to<br />

double its size utilizing the same filter design <strong>and</strong><br />

raising the flow rate to 10 mgd, 2.23 gpm/sf, with a<br />

TSS removal rate of 46.2%. The facility boasts a 0%<br />

discharge rate with its effluent going to golf courses,<br />

decorative fountains, etc.<br />

Qatar, Middle East<br />

The environmental extremes of weather <strong>and</strong> water in<br />

the Arabian Gulf are very hard on exposed equipment<br />

on offshore plat<strong>for</strong>ms. C’treat’s Model CFD402-6-3<br />

watermaker is located on the Al Rayyan Plat<strong>for</strong>m in<br />

the Middle East. This RO system has a capacity of<br />

7,926 GPD (30 M 3 /D) of high quality potable water.<br />

Odyssea Power Systems is the operator of a power<br />
