Overview of Programme<br />

During the 12 months programme, you will work in three different Food and Beverage outlets for a period of four months,<br />

taking on increasing levels of responsibility in order to fully understand the department from a variety of perspectives.<br />

For example:<br />

Month 1 as a Line Colleague<br />

Month 2 as a Supervisor<br />

Month 3 as an Assistant Manager<br />

Month 4 shadowing the Head of Department

Criteria<br />

You will ideally have a Bachelor Degree in Hospitality and at least one year experience in Food and Beverage (this could<br />

also include your school internship and operational on campus F&B experience). You will have demonstrated a real<br />

commitment to five star standards and a true desire to excel in the hospitality sector. English and one additional language<br />

are mandatory. The local language of the hotel you are training in and work permit are desirable.<br />

Candidates take part in a rigorous application process including interviews with the Director of Food and Beverage,<br />

Director of Human Resources and the General Manager. It is also necessary to complete a Food and Beverage<br />

Knowledge Assessment and an English language competency exercise. We select between six and twelve candidates<br />

per hotel to participate on the programme.

During the programme you take part in an appraisal process with the<br />

Food and Beverage Director to reflect upon your achievements, areas<br />

for development, and to begin to map out a future career path. Trainees<br />

who have shown genuine commitment and a high level of skill during<br />

the programme are guaranteed a Junior Management level position with<br />

<strong>Mandarin</strong> <strong>Oriental</strong> <strong>Hotel</strong> <strong>Group</strong>. On becoming a Junior Manager, you are<br />

in a strong position to put the skills and knowledge you have gained to<br />

use in the work place (e.g. in a pre-opening team) and be part of a group<br />

of career climbers whose career path is closely monitored and shaped<br />

in the years to come.<br />

• The programme starts every January and July and<br />

lasts 12 months.
