FISCHER’S PARK IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
The construction of planned
improvements at Fischer’s Park got
underway in early March and are
planned to be completed in July.
As outlined in the updated Fischer’s
Park Master Plan, the improvements
include an entry plaza, a new pavilion
with a new and expanded restroom
structure, woodland sensory garden,
stream bank stabilization along the
Towamencin Creek, relocation of play
equipment with required safety surface,
two bocce courts, game tables, access
route and viewing area for the existing
Arneth Entertainment Center, pathway
signage, a rain garden for storm water
collection and additional landscaping.
The improvements to Fischer’s Park
are being funded through a $300,000
grant from the Pennsylvania Department
of Conservation and Natural Resources
and a bequeath from a longtime resident
of Towamencin Township without impact
to the General Park Capital Fund. The
Township became the beneficiary of a
Trust provided by the Estate of Mrs.
Elizabeth Arneth who passed away in
June 2010. The funds are restricted by
the Trust such that they can only be
used for Fischer’s Park.
The Fischer’s Park Master Plan Update that was adopted in 2010 outlines approximately $2.8 million dollars in
proposed improvements for the park. The master plan can be viewed and downloaded at www.Towamencin.org.
