Civic Theatre Technical Details
Information about stage dimensions, dressing rooms, the orchestra pit, lighting and sound
and communications are detailed within this section.

1. Stage Dimensions
Performing area: 12.2m x 7.00m (40ft x 22ft 11.5in)
(Usable width x depth to back of safety curtain)
Pros opening: 11.17m x 4.11m (36ft 8in x 13ft 6in)
Forestage depth: 2.14m (7ft)
Wing widths S/R 3.66m (12ft)
S/L 1.83m (6ft)
Dock doors: 1.53m x 4.85m (5ft x 15ft 10in)
Height to grid: 10m (33ft)
The stage surface is wooden painted black with no rake. There is a workshop that adjoins the scene dock
that may be used for storage by prior arrangement.
The prompt desk is situated S/R and has both comms and Q light facilities as well as backstage and FOH
calls and show relay. Prompt corner also has CCTV monitor of stage and control of infrared assistive
listening system.
2. Dressing Rooms
There are two dressing rooms under the stage accessible by stairs. Each room accommodates 18 people.
All dressing rooms have shower facilities. WC's are also under the stage, each with showers. In addition
there is one stage level dressing room which can accommodate 2 people, which also has a WC and shower
facilities.
The green room is situated under the stage with a sink, refrigerator, microwave and TV/Stage monitor. All
dressing rooms, green room and workshop receive show relay and stage manager calls.
Backstage, with the exception of under-stage facilities, is accessible to disabled performers and staff.
3. Orchestra Pit
The Orchestra pit is in two sections of hydraulic raise and lower platforms, that create a half or full pit.
When in use it is railed and curtained from the audience. When not in use this forms the front part of the
auditorium floor with seating placed on. When half of the pit is in place, the centre of row A is lost. When
the full pit is in place the centre of rows A, B and C are lost. The lifts also raise the platform to stage level
if required.

theatre (prices available on request).

There are three multicore outputs in each sound position for a total of 48 microphone sends and 12
returns. There are also a parallel set of 12 microphone sends and 12 returns in the pit as well as 6 in the
cable trap at the front of the forestage.
N.B: All outputs are electronically balanced.

CUE LIGHTS There are 8 cue lights available with four sockets S/L and S/R.

Additional Information
Captioning
There are two 42in flat panel plasma monitors permanently mounted, one each side of the pros. These are
for use of our captioning system only and may only be used for another purpose subject to consultation
with and permission from Theatre Management. These screens are covered with black material when not
in use and do not impede the view of the stage.
Signing
There is a designated signing position (with its own lighting) DSR via a demountable platform that is only
put in this position when signing takes place.
