grade 4: 25 000 test cycles, for light duty hinges on windows and doors

Test door mass 

Eight door mass grades related to single-axis hinges are 

identified in this European standard as shown in table Figure 1 

Digit 4 

Suitability for fire/smoke door use 

Two grades of suitability are identified for single-axis hinges: 

Grade 0: not suitable for fire/smoke resistant door assemblies 

Grade 1: suitable for fire/smoke resistant door assemblies subject to satisfactory assessment of the contribution of the single-axis hinge to the fire resistance 

of the specified fire/smoke door assemblies. Such assessment is beyond the scope of this European standard (see EN 1634-1). 

Digit 5 

Safety 

Single-axis hinges are required to satisfy the essential requirements of safety in use. 

Therefore, only grade 1 is identified. 

Digit 6 

Corrosion resistance 

Five grades of corrosion resistance are identified in accordance with EN 1670: 

Grade 0: no defined corrosion resistance. 

Grade 1: mild resistance. 

Grade 2: moderate resistance. 

Grade 3: high resistance. 

Grade 4: very high resistance. 

Digit 7 

Security 

Two grades of security are identified for single-axis hinges: 

Grade 0: not suitable for use on burglar-resistant door assemblies 

Grade 1: suitable for applications requiring a degree of security.

Security Products 

A comprehensive collection of mortice locks, the York Range offers products to suit all security and budget requirements. 

The Standard Range offers a cost effective range of both locks and latches, offering reversible latch bolt and the ability to use bolt through furniture. 

The architectural range is used when a higher level of specification is required, or when heavy unsprung furniture is being used. Ranging from tubular latches 

through to 5 lever, there is a choice of two styles of lock case, one a dedicated Euro profile, the other Oval profile. 

All lock cases are recommended for use with the ISEO cylinder systems. 


ISEO Security Products 

The ISEO 5 pin is suitable for everyday use. A competitively priced but comprehensive range of cylinders, all 5 pin cylinders are provided with mushroom antipick 

top pins, brass bottom pins, solid extruded body, steel cam to DIN standard 18254 and phosphor bronze springs. Three nickel plated keys are supplied to 

differ cylinders. 

The ISEO R6 & R11 cylinder systems offer increased locking and key security, combined with cost effectiveness. Both systems offer anti drill protection within 

the cylinder together with the use of a 3mm flat key for strength and durability. 

The R6 and R11 cylinder systems also offer increased master key capabilities for more complex requirements. 

All cylinders are tested to 200,000 uses.

For use where increased security is required, the R6 offers a 6 pin 

flat key system, with all cylinders having anti-drill protection built in. 

Master Key suites can be dispatched within 72 hours from receipt of 

order. 

Master Keys 

Master Key Suites (Including Sub Suiting if required), Common Key Systems and Keyed 

Alike cylinders are available within very short delivery periods, and full records are 

kept allowing additions and replacements to be easily ordered at a later date. 

KEYING SERVICES 

ISEO cylinders are available as standard differ, keyed alike or master keyed, or as a 

combination of all three. Complex grand master keys suites are possible, but remember it 

is wise to check the feasibility of any system. The following 

diagrams give a guide to the keying arrangements possible. 

More complex systems can be achieved depending on the 

cylinder system used. 

We recommend that thought be given to any future growth 

that may be required. Although all master key suites have 

expansion built in, it is often easier to accommodate this in 

the initial design. 

ISEO’s cylinder systems offer a solution to most security and master keying 

requirements. 

KEYED TO DIFFER 

Each cylinder is only opened by its own key or exact copy of 

that key. 

KEYED ALIKE 

In keyed alike arrangements the same key 

operates all cylinders. 

Different types of cylinder can be included, as 

can both Euro and Oval profile. This is useful 

where a combination of lock cases are being 

used. 

COMMON ENTRANCES 

Common entrance suites are normally used in situations such as student 

accommodation. They are designed to allow each key holder to use the same key for 

their flat door as well as doors which are common to other residents. 

MK 

A key can also be issued that opens only the common doors. This is useful 

for milkmen or for maintenance of common areas. The important thing is 

that only the tenant’s key or an exact copy will open their flat door. 

ISEO R11 

This patented cylinder offers a higher security option at 

competitive prices. The R11 is an 11 pin flat key system, with full 

anti-drill protection and offers effective key duplication security. 

Master Key suites can be dispatched within 96 hours from receipt of 

order. 

MASTER KEY SUITE 

In a master key suite, a number of cylinders, each with their own individual 

keys can also be opened by another single key, the master key. This allows 

each person to only carry one key yet open more than one door if required. 

GREAT GRAND MASTER KEY SUITE 

Grand master key suites are an extension of master key suites and allow doors to be 

grouped and sub-grouped. Each door is opened by its own key and its group master key. 

These type of systems are useful in hotels, where each room has its own key. A cleaner 

may have a key that opens all the rooms on one floor and the manager one key to open 

all doors. 

Keyed alike groups and common cylinders can be incorporated into this type of scheme.

10 Year Mechanism Warranty 

Sprung sets will be replaced if within 10 years from the date of 

purchase the spring mechanism breaks due to faulty 

workmanship or materials. This 10 year warranty applies only to 

the original purchaser. 

The warranty is made void for any breakage caused by misuse 

or accident or in the manufacturer’s opinion the breakage 

arises from undue care. To validate any claim under this 

warranty a receipt or other proof of the age of the installation 

may be requested. 

Finishes & Maintenance 

To help keep products looking good, a simple cleaning routine 

of once a month should be sufficient. Products fitted externally 

or in exposed locations will require a more regular maintenance 

program which should also include a light oiling of the handle 

mechanism. 

PB Polished Brass 

Wipe over with a soft non abrasive cloth and buff gently to a 

shine. For all external fittings wipe over and sparingly apply a 

good wax polish, to avoid smears buff gently to a shine before 

the wax dries. DO NOT USE Metal or spray polishes as the grit 

or solvents in these products may damage the finish. 

We use high quality Multi-Resin Lacquer coatings to help keep 

the brass fittings surfaces looking good. Cleaned regularly the 

lacquer coating should provide you with good service but the 

life of the lacquer coating cannot be guaranteed. 

If the lacquer surface breaks down you may wish to remove the 

remaining lacquer by using a paint stripper, e.g. “Nitromores” 

strictly follow the manufacturer's instructions and follow any 

safety advice for using the product. After stripping the lacquer 

use a soft cloth and a metal polish, e.g. "Brasso" or "Duraglit". 

remove any tarnish and then buff to a bright finish. The fitting 

can then be re-lacquered using a lacquer suitable for use on 

metal. 

For external use you may prefer to leave the item unlacquered 

and then polish regularly with metal polish. 

PC SC AP Decorative finishes 

Chrome plated products are hard-wearing finishes that are 

virtually maintenance free. To remove finger marks on polished 

surfaces we recommend a light dusting with a soft non abrasive 

cloth. Avoid wax polish on polished chrome as this may cause 

smearing or bloom which can then be difficult to remove. 

Stainless Steel 

For light soiling wipe over all exposed stainless steel surfaces 

with a clean cloth using warm water and a mild detergent. 

For stubborn stains use a kitchen and bathroom cleaning 

product such as a cream cleaner or other purpose-made 

product with warm water, bristle brushes and clean cloths. 

Do not use carbon steel brushes or steel wool as this will 

scratch and damage the surface. A light oiling of springs or 

moving parts will keep the mechanism free of corrosion, though 

be careful to avoid spills on surrounding paintwork. 

Always rinse off then wipe surfaces dry with a clean lint free cloth.
