and struggles. Learn how to make crafts!<br />

Meeting with organization Pro‐Busqueda , an organization that works to reunite missing<br />

children with <strong>the</strong>ir families<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> UCA´s CMR museum and Rose garden dedicated to <strong>the</strong> Jesuit Martyrs and <strong>the</strong>ir two<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> community of Pueblo de Dios el Camino, in San Ramón, to learn about <strong>the</strong>ir history as<br />

a Christian Base Community and <strong>the</strong> different projects with art crafts.<br />

‐ Time to buy fair trade crafts<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> Monument to <strong>the</strong> Truth at <strong>the</strong> Cuscatlán Park, dedicated to <strong>the</strong> civilian victims of <strong>the</strong><br />

civil war<br />

Arrive at <strong>the</strong> UCA and see <strong>the</strong> alfombras<br />

Dinner at a local pizzeria or pupuseria<br />

Meet <strong>the</strong> artisans at <strong>the</strong> taller and learn about <strong>the</strong> history of <strong>the</strong> community and about <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

struggles as artisans<br />

Visit Sumpul Radio<br />

Visit <strong>the</strong> house/museum of Jon de Cortina, S.J. His human rights work revolved around<br />

refugees returning to <strong>the</strong>ir villages during <strong>the</strong> Salvadoran Civil War and subsequently <strong>the</strong><br />

search for orphaned and adopted children as a result of that war.<br />

Visit Calle Real and learn about <strong>the</strong> projects that Fr. David Blanchard has started, who works as<br />

a missionary since late 1980s. He began a mission in El Salvador in this community of displaced<br />

people because of <strong>the</strong> war. He has continued to serve <strong>the</strong>re since, and with <strong>the</strong> assistance of<br />

national and international organizations, helped to transform <strong>the</strong> area into a more stable<br />

community<br />

8:30am Leave for Suchitoto. The Art Center for Peace<br />

10:00am Arrive at Suchitoto and meet with Sr. Peggy O’Neal, long‐time peace activist she has been<br />

living and working in El Salvador since 1986. She accompanied <strong>the</strong> Salvadoran people through<br />

six years of <strong>the</strong>ir 12‐year civil war and now through 18 years of healing<br />

1:30pm Walk around <strong>the</strong> old town, visit <strong>the</strong> church and square<br />

2:00pm Leave for Comunidad Oscar Arnulfo Romero (COAR) (km 19)<br />
