Meeting with COFAMIDE the Committee of Family Members of Migrants who have Died or
Disappeared
Meeting with a group of artisans at the CRISPAZ office to learn about their history
and struggles. Learn how to make crafts!

Meeting with organization Pro‐Busqueda , an organization that works to reunite missing
children with their families
Leave for the Jesuit university UCA
Visit the UCA´s CMR museum and Rose garden dedicated to the Jesuit Martyrs and their two
women collaborators (mother and daughter)

Dinner at a Pupusería in Los Planes de Renderos

Leave for Santa Cruz Parish (Colonia Florencia, Soyapango)
Arrive at the parish and join in a conversation with the youth group from the parish
Return to the guesthouse
Lunch at Nelly´s eatery
Visit the community of Pueblo de Dios el Camino, in San Ramón, to learn about their history as
a Christian Base Community and the different projects with art crafts.
‐ Time to buy fair trade crafts
Visit the Monument to the Truth at the Cuscatlán Park, dedicated to the civilian victims of the
civil war
Leave for the UCA
Arrive at the UCA and see the alfombras
Dinner at a local pizzeria or pupuseria
Farolitos procession at the UCA
Attend to the vigil in commemoration to the Jesuits martyred in 1989 at the university
Return to the guesthouse

Welcome by the artisan women who will be hosting us, at the monument to Jon de Cortina
Lunch with the artisans at Betty´s
Meet the artisans at the taller and learn about the history of the community and about their
struggles as artisans
Visit Sumpul Radio
Visit the house/museum of Jon de Cortina, S.J. His human rights work revolved around
refugees returning to their villages during the Salvadoran Civil War and subsequently the
search for orphaned and adopted children as a result of that war.

Visit the National Cathedral and Crypt where Mons. Romero is buried
Visit the Dominican church of El Rosario
Lunch at Nelly´s eatery
Leave for Calle Real
Visit Calle Real and learn about the projects that Fr. David Blanchard has started, who works as
a missionary since late 1980s. He began a mission in El Salvador in this community of displaced
people because of the war. He has continued to serve there since, and with the assistance of
national and international organizations, helped to transform the area into a more stable
community

‐Pack and get ready to go to COAR
8:30am Leave for Suchitoto. The Art Center for Peace
10:00am Arrive at Suchitoto and meet with Sr. Peggy O’Neal, long‐time peace activist she has been
living and working in El Salvador since 1986. She accompanied the Salvadoran people through
six years of their 12‐year civil war and now through 18 years of healing
12:00pm Lunch at the Art Center
1:30pm Walk around the old town, visit the church and square
2:00pm Leave for Comunidad Oscar Arnulfo Romero (COAR) (km 19)
**Stop and purchase Pollo Campero for that night**
