Services Introduction<br />
<strong>Physiotherapy</strong> & Rehabilitation Services provides quality multidisciplinary services through<br />
education, counseling, a multitude of modalities, state-of-the-art exercise machines, and a wide<br />
range of therapeutic exercise, research and advocacy to help the patients return to an active and<br />

Four Weeks Elective Training Programme<br />
<strong>Physiotherapy</strong> & Rehabilitation Services offers four weeks Elective Student Training<br />
Programme for national and international students with collaboration of Office of the Registrar.<br />
This is a period for observation, in which the students are guided to acquire the knowledge, skills<br />
and guidance for entry into the profession and postgraduation physiotherapy education.<br />
We firmly believe that Elective Training Programme is an educational programme and our aim is<br />
to provide quality clinical exposure in their education life.<br />
Objectives<br />
The student during the four weeks of rotation will go through various services at AKUH should<br />
be able to:<br />

Learn different new expertise and advances in the field of <strong>Physiotherapy</strong>.<br />
See clinical approaches and working protocols of <strong>Physiotherapy</strong> in different subspecialties.<br />
See patients initial assessment methods, documentations and wok plan as per<br />
requirement.
See practice in a safe manner that minimises risk to patient, self and others.<br />
See clinical findings to determine physiotherapy diagnoses and outcomes of care.<br />
Programme Contents<br />
a) Department Orientation (Day One)<br />
1- Orientation of Department which includes Services, Staff, Timings and Policies.<br />
2- Introduction of ISO & JCIA quality Standards.<br />
b) Rotation in Patients Care Areas<br />
Three days rotation in each areas of services subspecialties under supervision of area<br />
coordinator i.e. Surgical Ward, Medicine Ward, Orthopaedic Ward, Paediatric Ward,<br />
Obstetrics & Gynaecology Ward, Special Care Units (ICU, CCU, CICU), Outpatients and<br />
Advance Rehabilitation at Sports & Rehabilitation Centre.<br />
Other Activities<br />
Students are allowed to participate in the departmental education sessions/activities and are<br />
permitted to use AKUH audio visual department and library as elective students.<br />
Who Should Apply?<br />
This four weeks programme is for students, who are in final year of BS <strong>Physiotherapy</strong> in<br />
recognised school/college of <strong>Physiotherapy</strong>.
