BMW 2000CS coupe, which was enlarged to hold the BMW M30 straight-6 engine used in the E3 sedan. The E9 platform,
especially the 3.0 CSL homologation special, was very successful in racing, especially in European Touring Car Championship
and the Deutsche Rennsport Meisterschaft. This helped to establish BMW’s status as a sporty driver’s car.
was independent at the front using coil springs and had a live axle with half elliptic leaf springs at the rear. The steering was by rack and pinion.
Hydraulically operated Lockheed 10 inch (254 mm) drum brakes were fitted to front and back rear wheels. The car had leather trimmed individual
The E-Type Jaguar, that favourite sixties icon, is sophisticated, glamorous and fast. A car
that is on everybody’s short list of the greatest cars of all time.
This car was manufactured by Jaguar and ordered as a personal export model on the 3 rd
July 1967 by a Mr Pinolta through Jaguar dealers Mizzi Brothers (Malta). The original
Maltese log book and Jaguar trace certificate are with the vehicle documents. The car’s
original colour was sand and it was painted its current blue colour shortly after arriving
in Malta. The car returned to the UK in August 1989 in excellent rust-free condition. The
owner purchased the car at auction in 1991 and since then has improved it. This
thoroughbred is in tip-top original condition, making it a very fine example.
This car is offered with Isle of Man registration documents.

Vauxhall characteristics of sound design and sturdy construction with simplicity of maintenance and ease
of control are outstanding features of this 25GL ‘Big Six’ model. With the addition of the coach build body
by Salmons Tickford, makes this car prestigious and unique. Salmons Tickford provided specialist services
to top car makers including, Rolls Royce, Aston Martin, Alvis, Daimler, Lagonda and many more.
The car is believed to have been commissioned by Richard Arthur Costain of the building dynasty. It was
coach built by Salmons & Tickford with a landaulette body (limousine with division and fully retractable
hood operated by a handle inserted at the rear of the nearside). Mr Costain had the car brought to the Isle
of Man and in 1947 it was used by a local garage as a
taxi. The present owner purchased the car in the
early 1960’s and whilst searching for parts in the
1970’s, a member of the Vauxhall staff remembers
the car being delivered to the coachbuilders. A full
restoration was completed in 1993. The car is
Railton Cars of Cobham, Surrey produced cars of quality and distinction. Anglo-American in
their construction they were fitted with a 4.2 litre Hudson engine and had a lowered 4 litre
Terraplane chassis with stiffened suspension. Coachwork was in the British style with
louvered and riveted bonnets and the end result was a car with startling acceleration, good
looks and considered to be the best of the Anglo-Americans produced.
This car was purchased at auction in 1991 by the owner, Railton member No. 781, and has
undergone a complete restoration. The previous owner, Kenneth Mummery, was a leading
member of the Railton owners club and owned this car for nearly 54 years. The car’s paintwork is silver with green leather upholstery and the
black mohair drop head complements the overall effect. The car was a previous winner of
the John Cobb cup, the Alan Nicholls award and the Kenneth Mummery award. The car
participated in the 1951 Blandford Speed Trials and at the Team Railton event at Prescott
circa 1972. Under the present owner, the car has been dry-stored in a de-humidified garage,
has been run regularly and taken to rallies. Minor attention only has been required to keep
this Railton in the splendid condition it is today.
It is offered for sale with Isle of Man registration documents and some history. The Railton
was always an individualistic hand-built motor car and it is rare to find one in such beautiful
condition and good running order.

The first Riley sports car to use the Nine engine was the inspiration from the great J.G. Parry Thomas, soon
to be tragically killed while attempting to break the Land Speed Record in "Babs" at Pendine Sands in
March 1927. The project was picked up by Reid Railton, the first few 'Brooklands Speed Models' being
built by Thomson and Taylor. Driven by Railton, the new racing car won its first race at Brooklands in the
Autumn meeting of 1927 at 91.37mph, astonishing for an 1100cc car. Many Brooklands Class G records
were established in 1928, including the 500 miles at a respectable 87.09mph. Capable of 80mph in standard form, the 'Brooklands' in essence was
created from a standard Nine chassis which was double cranked, shortened by fifteen inches, narrowed at the back, with under slung rear springs,
in line with the frame. The bodywork was so low that when measured, the radiator cowl was only 36 inches from the ground. The prototype had
a fabric body and was believed to weigh about 1,120 lbs, Coventry-built production versions arriving at 1,680 lbs.
The car was acquired by the present owner in March 1999 as a non-runner and
since then has undergone a full restoration. Since the end of World War II and into
the 1950’s/60’s it was believed to have been raced at the Brighton Speed Trials,
Silverstone and elsewhere by various drivers including, Geoffrey McArdle (see
photograph taken from Issue 195, September 2004, “The Riley 50 register bulletin”
page 37). Prior to that, little is known about the car. It’s first registered owner was
W. L. Morgan, 16 High Street, Rugby on the 24 th March 1932. The log book states
“1 st registered in the UK as WD 3648 on 24 th March 1932. Previously registered
and/or used prior to the date of registration above. Declared manufactured 1929”.
In view of the engine being non-standard, having lengthened valves, the
off-setting of the rocker box covers and the enlarged sump suggests a
competition history. What was Car No. 8059 doing from 1929 to 1932?
It is offered for sale with Isle of Man registration documents and numerous
photographs of restoration. One of the best examples around today. The Riley
Brooklands was one of the most successful works and privateer racing cars of the
late 1920’s and 1930’s, particularly in hill climbs and at Le Mans.

Railton's own pre-prototype known as the S.R. (Spurrier Railton). Railton had raced this car at the Brooklands Easter Meeting in 1924,
competing in the 75 mph Short Handicap and the 90 mph Long Handicap. He, and also Spurrier, Parker and Shorrock raced this car at
Southport and elsewhere. The most interesting feature of the design is Railton's modification of the Thomas valve gear. The Thomas Leyland
Eight and Leyland-Thomas cars used one cam per cylinder and leaf valve springs. On the Arab engine Railton retained the leaf valve springs
but used two cams per cylinder, off-setting the rockers so that each rocker was engaged by its own cam, thus giving the engine the benefit of
overlap which was almost impossible on the Thomas layout (see Motor Sport April 1984). According to an article in an old Classic Car
magazine, from November 1924 until 1941 this car was owned and used by a succession of Leyland premium apprentices, two of whom have
been contacted in the past and have confirmed the history of the car. A casting date of 1923 on the engine and a photograph from the albums
of the late Sir Henry Spurrier of the S.R. in the late summer of 1923 confirm the origins of the S.R. engine. From 1941 to 1974 the car had few
owners including the Stratford Upon Avon Museum, until its purchase by Brian Demaus (a well-known motor historian). In his hands, it was
restored as near as possible to its condition when first registered in March 1929. The Arab has attended a number of vintage events, competed
in one VSCC event and also attended three Brooklands reunions. During Brian Demaus ownership, the engine was completely stripped down
and rebuilt by Ron Foottit of Cleobury Garages Ltd., and the new gears and splines for the gearbox were made by Templeton Engineering of
Woodmancote, Cheltenham. Since its rebuild, the car has covered only 6/7000 miles on the road. Only one other low-chassis Arab survives with
the consecutive chassis No. 6. Of the dozen or so thought to have been made, no high-chassis Arab is known to survive.

1927 ARAB SUPER SPORT
2 LITRE LOW CHASSIS
BY REID RAILTON

The present owner purchased the Arab at auction in 1992 and has improved the restoration works of the previous owner, presenting this
unique motor car in full running order ready to top the 90 mph barrier. The car has been stored in a de-humidified garage and maintained by a
Rolls Royce trained mechanic. The Arab Super Sports PK 7930 has featured in many automotive periodicals including 'The Autocar' 19.11.1926,
'Motor Sport' Oct 1958, Dec 1958, Feb 1959, Dec 1983, 'Mobil News' Sept 1983, and 'The Automobile' March 1984.
It is offered for sale with Isle of Man registration documents and some service history. The Arab Super Sports has a great pedigree and is one of
the rarest car in the world. The opportunity to obtain a piece of automotive history of this calibre rarely presents itself, so to all enthusiasts, the
time has come.
