Welcome to <strong>the</strong> 10 th National Conference on Injury<br />

Prevention and Safety Promotion.<br />

The Australian Injury Prevention Network (AIPN) and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Queensland University of Technology’s Centre<br />

for Accident Research and Road Safety - Queensland<br />

(CARRS-Q) are pleased to invite you to be part of <strong>the</strong><br />

premier injury prevention conference for Australia and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Asia Pacific, to be held at <strong>the</strong> Brisbane Convention<br />

and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, 2-4 November<br />

2011.<br />

The conference will be a multi-disciplinary event<br />

featuring representatives from all facets of injury<br />

prevention including research, teaching, practice and<br />

policy. Conference topics are expected to cover a variety<br />

of issues including falls and ageing; childhood injuries;<br />

indigenous injury prevention and safety; road traffic<br />

injuries; rural injuries; safe communities; sport-related<br />

injuries; suicide and violence; work-related injuries; and<br />

water safety.<br />

The conference is expected to attract over 250<br />

delegates including health professionals, researchers,<br />

medical practitioners, local, state and commonwealth<br />

government officers, workplace health and safety<br />

professionals and o<strong>the</strong>r interested people. These<br />

delegates will each have an opportunity to share<br />

knowledge and ideas and to form fruitful networks and<br />

new partnerships.<br />
